So I have played some SF before and gotten decent. I played mostly Ryu and never settled into a character so much but now I would like to. I’m still experimenting but I was wondering if I could get help by describing what I am looking for and see if any experienced player thinks there character fits the bill.
The way I normally like to fight or compete in all competition is to set up a deceptively simple offense and defense to relax my opponent into false security and then switch up subtle little things such as timing of say a back and forth motion to sneak up into an advantageous position on them and surprise them with a strong attack quickly pounding them before they realize how to defend again. repeat that process changing the methods until I win. So does that sound like anyone to you? I really hope it does and thank you for reading
sorry if I am unclear. I am just trying to describe my preferred play style as a “feel” to see if anyone has a character that feels that way to them. By that I mean it encourages the actions and tactics I described. Figured it could save me some time since learning a character takes me a solid amount of time.
I consider myself to be pretty damn good at fighters, I can pull of some insane stuff on TVC, but I have been in training mode ok SF4 for the last three hours with the strategy guide in front of me but I cannot get the timing right to do anything more than a two hit combo! No matter what I do, nothing happens when I atempt my 3rd hit.
Go to training and turn on the input display.
Probably you are just messing up with the qcf x2 motion.
I also have the same problem, I usually get an EX shoryuken instead of an ultra because i input qcf, d, db+PPP …
Try something easier af first, just to get it down, such as Sagat’s tiger uppercut, fadc, f+HK, ultra.
Hi, I’m new to 2D fighters, so please forgive my ignorance. I just picked up SF4 for 360 and the MadCatz FightPad. I’m having problems getting the special moves to work. I’ve tried on both the 360 and the MCPad, but I can only get the moves to work 50% of the time. I have about 3-4 hrs in the game. Is this just a problem with me needing more practice or does it take a while to get the moves down?
Also, I’ve read about the problems with the MC Pad and I’ve tested mine on my PC and turned on the “show inputs” in training mode and it seems to be working.
If anyone has advice or tricks to get these moves to work with the FightPad it would be appreciated.
Make sure that you’re not doing things too quickly, when I started out that was a problem of mine, you can’t put in the input slowly, but it’s not a really quick thing.
Thanks, I did notice in training if I concentrate on hitting the inputs with “show inputs” on (which slows me down) it get better results. Do you know what the timing on the kick/punch key should be? Should I be hitting the key right after the dpad inputs or during? Thanks Again…
Has anyone else noticed that they’re not getting new icons after receiving a message between matches saying that they have unlocked a new icon?
Several times now, I have received a message saying I got a new icon, I’ll check the list, and see no new icons, nor will I see the words “new” next to an icon that is showing on the list.
Anyone else noticing strange things like this happening?
put your ring finger on MK and use your index + thumb for lp + lk. its that fast.
try pressing the j.hk later in the jump and the subsequent c.mp later after you land. after that the only other trick to this is making sure youre charging down AS SOON as you leave the ground.
I am having trouble with C. Viper’s Challenge #3 (Normal).
I have to do a standing hard kick and then cancel into her Super. Her standing hard kick hits twice. I can’t cancel that 2-hit hard kick into her super. This certain cancel has nothing to do with “buffering”.
It’s not like I can’t do a standing hard kick into a Super. It’s just that I can’t cancel a standing hard kick WITH a Super.
So I got SF today. You may remember I made the post about whether SF was for me or not. Well I finally got the game and… well…
I’m just about ready to take that f***in disk, and shove it through my f***kin TV screen, then lift the screen high above my head and smash that f***er through the floor. AARRRGGGHHHHHH
I can’t stand being this bad. I played online today, ranked. I had been playing against the computer, unlocking characters and stuff, for about 5 hours beforehand. I play about 35 games… I lose 32 of them. I just can’t win… ever. And it’s so frustrating because I’m not getting any better. I’m sure you hear this from people all the time:
“I put the f***ing command in, it DIDN’T DO THE MOVE!!!11!!!”
I’m getting that ALL the time. I’m trying to pull off Supers and Ultras and it’s just doing nothing. My stick technique must be appalling, I’m finding it really hard doing the combos in Trial Mode (I completed it for Cammy, took me about half an hour for the final ones… it’s ridiculous how small the window you’ve got to input the next move in is). I’ve been playing for about 12 hours today, 6 hours of that pure masochism. I’ve got wrist strain (probably another sign of poor stick technique) and I’m just dumbfounded. I don’t have a clue what to do in this game.
I started playing as Abel because I like his moves, but I just found myself unable to hit with any (just the Wheel Kick). I found him slow and thought maybe he was a weak character (seeing as everyone plays as bloody Ken). I switched to Cammy because she’s cool and British (like me :P) and I’ve had a bit more success… but in the end I just resort to jumping constantly and button mashing/spamming Heavy Low Kick a lot (I use her special kick moves a lot, but it still feels like I’m just whoring lows).
Is there some sort of tutorial or something I can read? I’ve watched some videos on YouTube of a guy giving tips for SF (I’m going to watch them again now) but I need some seeeerious help with the basics.
It’s the most beginner unfriendly game I’ve ever played.
I’ve done a google search (srk.com and other sites) for this and figured there would be a few more posts about it (since the arcade version has been out for awhile) … but can’t find anything about when and where you should use it. Currently, I’ve been “FA hunting” … and that’s just not the way to play this game . I’m just having a difficult time trying to use this effectively in my defensive game. I can FADC … I just don’t see the uses of it other than to continue a combo.
I had a question, does stun for the opponent increase? I was looking at training mode against the CPU and I noticed that the stun number actually increases after the first stun. Under the stun option for the opponent, it is listed as “Normal”. In the game, does this increase as well, or is it just for the training mode? Also, would it reset per round?
You’re right (it slipped my mind to search for SavingAttack/SA/SADC) … some new keywords to use to find some more info. I’m sure there will be much more now, thanks!
If you’re unlocking characters and you’ve won an online match, it sounds like you’re doing better than me. I can’t get through arcade on easy with rounds set to 1. I keep getting stuck on seth. I gave up and have just been staying in training trying to get the moves down… I’ll try again later.
