Hi all first post.
Just got two TEs (one for PS3 one for 360 as playing it on both machines) from UK - but would like to know what the proper arcade stick setup buttons are (I know their only 6 like lol)
Its just that Ive noticed when you alter the PS3 to stick it goes
Weak to fierce punch square,triangle,r1 (and extra L1 x3)
X,Cirlce,R2 weak to fierce kick (and extra L2 x3)
And 360 if you do that you get something totally different.
I know some will say play with what your comfortable with but I always like to use authentic setup as I learnt VF that way and its years and years since i played SF series and my poor memory has forgotten (long story in a coma wiped about 6yrs-10 lol)
Cheers for any help
And my pics of the sticks and CE are here (thanks to shopto.net for getting em to me early)

what? Is this what you call answering a question?
I was hoping to make my own thread but I’m half forced to do this. Concerning SF4 on the PS3. Voice chat. Normally a little mic apears beside the head in the waiting screen that shows you can talk. For some reason the game is ignoring my mic. I’ve got the official sony bluetooth headset, the one that comes with the base. This thing works with EVERY game by default. But for some reason SF4 is ignoring it. My friend who has the same headset is getting the same problem. Does anyone know what is wrong?
How long did it take everyone to get used to FADC and being able to do it on the fly in a match?
Hi, I have been lurking for about a year and just decided to join to hopefully get better at SFVI.
I am really terrible… I play as Chun Li and have checked out the board, but I can’t figure out how to deal with the simplest things… Like Ryu and Ken’s Spin Kick to Dragon Punch. No matter what if I am knocked down I get hit by them a lot…
I wanted to play as C.Viper because she looks the most awesome when she is doing well. But once I found out that one of my 7 or 8 hit viper combos doesn’t even equal as much damage as a simple throw from most characters…
peace.
Yet another SFIV noob
Yeah, I haven’t played any SFs since SFIITurboChampionEXAlphaStrike4 or whatever. Just picked up playing SF3s the other week, and forgot how much I love these games. Now I’ve bought SFIV on the day it came out and am looking into buying an arcade stick! Slowly the addiciton grows…
Is there anywhere on the site that gives a “category” for the fighters in the console/arcade version of SFIV? Not a tier listing mind you (I really don’t care overly much…) but for instance, listing whether a character is primarily a “rush down” character or a trap character, etc.
I really, really love rush down/fast combo-y characters, but I really suck at charge moves. Mainly because I have absolutely no idea how long I have to hold them, so I end up playing them really slow. A good example of what I like is Matoko, i.e a quick rushdown game. Is there anyone in SFIV like this? It seems like Fei Long is the closest… I suppose I could learn to play Balrog, just have to learn how to play charge characters first
Also, any other noobs on the 360 out there for some noob sissy fights?
I used to play alpha in the arcades (when I was supposed to be in class), so I’m somewhat familiar with the SF system… but I’ve been hardcore into Soul Calibur ever since…
Now that SF4 is out, I HAD to get back into it!
Can someone explain to me about how breaking focus moves works (You’ll hear a glass breaking sound)? Couldn’t find it in this thread.
There are times where you’ll be in mid-focus charge, and an attack (even a single-hit attack) from your opponent will break your focus attack/charge. The instruction booklet doesn’t mention anything about the focus attack breaking. I do know however that some moves have an indicator in the command list that say they’re “armor breaker” moves.
Is it just a matter of using an armor break move while your opponent is charging the force?
Yes. You can also throw them…
That’s exactly it. You can break focus by doing a two hit combo, throws, or an armour break move. An armour break move will break a focus attack even on the first hit.
Most ex moves are armour break. For example, a focus attack will absorb a regular hadoken, but will be broken by a ex.
There are also some regular moves that are armour break, like any version of blanka ball.
Do “personal actions” cover both taunts and win poses or just taunts?
Speaking of which, does the last frame of a taunt do damage like it did in part 3?
I find that I CANNOT move-cancel more than 1/50 times. What is the correct timing on the second move to cancel the first? How fast should I be inputting the second move?
Anemos, check the term “Buffering” in the terminology section. Pretend you need to do something like c.MP > hadouken. instead of hitting d+MP, d,df,f +mp, you would just do d+mp, df, f +mp. the down from the crouch mp counts for the down part of the hadouken.
unless you are just talking about normal hits, which is just timing
Try to put input display on training mode. Maybe it will show you that you are doing something wrong.
ouch
yeah, so I am totally new to fighting games. The only other one I have played extensively was Killer Instinct. Right now I am 8 and 108, lol. Oh well, I’ll get better, but my friend I always play with is really really good.
I’m having trouble getting Ken’s kara throw to come out, even though I’m pretty sure I’m inputting the F. MK -> LP LK as quickly as I can. Could it be these madkatz buttons?
I was wondering if there was anyway to cut down the charge on certain characters. Though being a new guile user, I was trying out : Jumping Hard Punch, Crouching Medium Punch, cancel into Light Kick Flash Kick and it seems that it comes out probably 1 out of 20 tries. I am using the Madcatz Fight Stick ( not the TE edition). Though what were the reviews about the regular Fightstick?( “y” tends to lag a bit when pressed over and over again). I have somewhat little experience with canceling but the Flash kick won’t come out.
Hi just got sf4 and im liking it a lot.
Im having trouble doing shoryu + FADC + ULTRA, by looking at the videos it seemed easy to do but it actually is pretty hard
any tips for pulling this one off? I dont know why but after the dash I end throwing red fireball instead of ultra. I think that the notion of having two buttons pressed while doing some other stuff messes up my mind
