You guys realize you can plug in your MP3 player and make play your own music right?

question on trip gaurd::
so lets say i whiff a j.rh and i do a dp, that will cancel trip gaurd right? so you aren’t allowed to c.lk and such at all if i do it?
This is the first fighting game I’ve ever really gotten into. Had it for about a month or so, and just picked up the cheaper madcatz stick.
Howdy folks, I am an old school fighting game fan and started playing Street Fighter 2 on the Super Nintendo back in the day. I have since then not really played much of the SF games until SF4 came out.
I have recently acquired a TE stick and have been having a blast playing online. I have the basic moves down and can reasonably anticipate where/how to block and counter and can do basic combos on demand when I’m not too frazzled.
I have been concentrating on learning M. Bison and seem to have a pretty good grasp and can consistenly pull off his moves with decent timing. I have come up against good players on XBL that have just had their way with me and I definitely know I have quite a lot of room for improvement.
I have been lurking on this forum for a month now and have had lots of success picking up tips and tricks here and there. Watching and rewatching matchups and videos and learning from them. In any case, I wanted to find more reliable training partners that are near the hudson valley NY area to play private matches with on XBL. (Hoping that the closer you are the better your network connection would be to each other) If anybody here is interested please send me (zedrax) a friend request on XBL. Thanks.
Just wanted to say…
Sup ppl first time here and I like this forum anyone wanna play me on xbox hit me up onemanarmy06 I think im pretty good im g2-b about 8200cp
Couple of questions about game terms and excecution. This has been propably asked already many time. But what is exactly the difference between chain and link? As I have understood it. Chain is when one smashes buttons out and thus performing a combo, but link is a little delayed by timing. But not too much so it will still be in a combo. Is this anywhere near the truth?
And how about “xx” in combos? ie. ‘normal moves xx special move’. Does this mean canceling that last normal move into a special move or what?
What about BnB? What does it stand for? It comes up atleast when talking about Akuma combos.
Thanks in advance. These are propably already asked and answered many times already but try to keep patiens please
Chain is when you cancel a Normal into another Normal.
Like pressing Light Punch three times fast.
After a Chain, you cannot Cancel into a Special.
In order to do a Special, the previous Normal has to have been Linked into.
Then with the Link you can Cancel into Special.
Link is when you do a Normal right when the previous Normal is done animated.
Timing for those need practice.
j.HK -> c.LP -> c.LP, c.MK xx HP Gohadoken
You are Chaining the j.HK to c.LP to c.LP in there.
Then you Link the last c.LP into a c.MK there.
After that you Cancel the c.MK into a HP Gohadoken.
There is only one time that Chaining into a Special works.
That is Jump-in.
The Jump-in Normal can Chain into the Ground Normal.
j.HK -> c.HP xx Gohadoken
Only the first Normal after Jump-in can be Canceled into Special.
If you add anything after the first Normal of a Jump-in, then whatever before the Special has to be Linked.
Like the first Combo above.
“xx” notation means Cancel.
Cancel is when you do a Special before a Normal ends.
You cancel the animation of the Normal and it starts your Special.
c.MK xx Gohadoken
Simple Cancel.
You execute the Gohadoken before the c.MK ends.
Akuma will cut off the animation of his leg retracting from c.MK, then goes right into Gohadoken.
And BnB?
You didn’t see me Post just above?
Hey guys, just wanted to ask a quick question about throws. Do they beat out attacks if timed perfectly?
So I’ve been maining Bison so far, but I’ve noticed that sometimes I’ll get thrown out of a lot of his moves, and it’s pretty annoying. I’ll get thrown out of scissor kicks every now and then, but I understand that since it doesn’t hit right away.
What confuses me is getting thrown out of normal and EX Psycho Crushers. Wtf? I also threw a s.HK completely out of Zangiefs throw range, but he still did a EX Spinning Piledriver. :wtf:
You can’t beat out of Command Throws, I know that.
Yes, throws can beat you out of attacks. You will be within throw range at the time and your move will still be in its startup frames, so you won’t be hitting them yet. A throw usually takes around 3 frames to start up so if you’re within range and you throw a move with a startup of over 3, your opponent can technically throw you out of the move. You may see the move animation begin, but it won’t have entered the ‘active’ frames yet. This is provided they time it really well/get lucky of course, and that you are ‘grounded’.
If you see here (http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/nov/13/m-bison-dictator-frame-data-street-fighter-4/), you can see that Bison’s SKs startup frames range from 10-16. That is ample time for someone to throw you.
As for being out of range and getting EX SPD’d, I can only guess that you misjudged the range or that perhaps your s.HK took you within range. Not sure on that sorry.
In short, though, yes you can be thrown out of moves even if the animation has started.
Nice thread, I’ve been playing SF since like SNES but wasnt very good, but now im trying to get better, Ive learnt how to beat a spammy ken, I purposely pause my block strings to bait a DP, then punish, But what do I do to people that block really well and spamm jab when I try tickthrow, mainly balrog because of his fast jabs. I know a tick throw shouldnt give them time to jab most times but I cant time them right with the varying lag online.
Well if they know you are going for a tick throw, they spam jab right? Well take it like you beat scrubby kens. You say you bait DP by stopping in block stings and blocking it. So after they stop you from tick throwing a few times and they think thats what you are going for, FA, DP, Ultra, etc
Would the FA come out fast enough to beat the jab? I wouldnt get hit twice before my FA ended? It wouldnt crumble though right so id have to backdash to be safe.
hmm I guesss Ill just try it in practice mode, thanks alot, I guess just pausing for a split second then throwing a shoryuken to catch the jab would be good If I know they always spam jab and if I had two bars I could FADC it if it didnt hit. But thanks alot :]
Hey, just wondering the best way to practice as a beginner (stressing beginner, SF4 is the first fighter I’ve owned)… Training or arcade mode? I know the main thing is to get the hours in, but online I’d just be doing whatever I can to survive… not the best place to practice… does this leave me with arcade mode? Is that the best place to practice until I hit a certain skill level? Or should I mainly do training with the AI turned on? I have read and watched a lot of material regarding proper strategy but it’s gonna take me a while to build my muscle memory move by move if you know what I mean. I do have a stick, I’m trying to build my way up step by step and I just wanna make sure I do it the most efficient way I can.
best thing is to play someone at your level. i would play arcade mode with the championship turned on. play whoever challenges you, and add the players who are at your level to your friends list. even if you’re getting beat down by other players, its still a learning experience. playing with the computer will do very little for your game.
Hey everyone.
New to srk here.
Not new to street fighter tho.
I play on 360 and the gamertag is soon to come.
Hope to learn a lot from here.
A relatively recent competitor in the Fighting Scene (Only really played Melty Blood previously, but never took it seriously as I have with some newer games), and there’s one thing that’s been biting by butt during competitions.
I simply can’t figure out throw teching.
My biggest problem is trying to read throws during strings. Namely, this is from playing a friend who mains Ryu and who gets me 90% of the time by throwing me during a block string. I main Chun-Li, who doesn’t have good anti-airs, so I’m usually stuck blocking jump-ins, letting him enter a block string, and either getting thrown or getting hadouken’d in the face due to a loose block string. How do you guys do it?
So he jumps in, c.lp c.lp tick throw. I get mad.
Jumps in again, c.lp c.lk c.lp tick throw. I fall for it again.
Then I mistakenly let him in range, jump-in, c.lp tick throw.
What do you guys look for when teching is my main question? Do you anticipate a certain move in the block string, and if don’t see it come out, mash throw?
I’ve heard about Option-Select-Throw, where you hold down-back and throw, but I get punished in loose block-strings at times by doing it and the c.lp doesn’t come out fast enough at times. Or is it because I have bad timing? I’m thinking I may be hitting throw too soon when I’m still in block stun, or is it something else?
So, what do you guys look for when teching throws?
Hi all
Hello all
Thos is my 1st post on these forums
I’ve been a huge fan of the streetfighter games since the beginning (streetfighter 1 with the two hit pads in the arcade ) and i cant believe how much i’m enjoying stf4 right now.capcom have out done themself making the game both great for new and old players.
I’ve always been proud of my abiltys as a console based beat em fan, until i started playing online back in feb lol now it seems a whole generation has upped their game.I have no problem with doing any of the moves after nearly 20 years practice.
you have a great site here and after using it many times i thought i’d just take the chance to say thx.
Gazzarmy is also my gamer tag on the ps3
Hi guys.Does any one have the same problem as the quote above…I’ve did a lot of hard trial combos in challenge mode and none of the corresponding icons have unlocked…Im thinkin this must be some kind of fault in my saving or something.Ive scrolled through the pages so thats def not the problem…it’s wrecking my head!!!
