Blind Pick removed from Ranked?

Hey Guys,

I have a weird question:
I could SWEAR that when the CE pack came out there was blind picking in ranked matches…tonight I did some matches in ranked and blind picking was gone.

I know CE mode still has blind picks but did Capcom remove the blind picking from ranked (or am I just delusional and it never existed? lol)?

It’s driving me insane - any word on this would be greatly appreciated!!!

EDIT: Edited for spelling!

This. :razzy:

Seriously??? I could swear there were blind picks in ranked after the patch…ah well…maybe I’m just getting old :looney:

I didn’t really know where to post this exactly and figured this would be the best place, but I’m starting a blog for beginners by a beginner about how to progress and improve if you’re new to Street Fighter and fighting games in general. I am going to basically chronicle my experiences, mistakes, thoughts and analysis for other beginners to sort of follow and learn from so that maybe they don’t fall into a lot of the same pitfalls that I do. My first post is all about how to handle losing so frequently, which all beginners do… next time I’ll be talking about learning to use a stick, etc… hit it up if you’ve got some time at http://sahnsei.blogspot.com

My 20GB Hard Drive went down to 8.2GB after installation of SFIV.
Game is 5.7GB, so obviously like any Hard Drive, the capacity is less than said.

Hi,I am new to the SF community. After watching a lot of SF4 video and played some SF3,I decided to make fighting game my passion.I really like the genre and I think I have possibility to become a good player. But here a question:
I am a Canadian and live in Quebec,do you think I can go to some tournament(If yes, witch one)?
Sorry about my pathetic english,I will try to write better next time.

There are regional matchup threads for most locations. For Quebec you should introduce yourself in this thread: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=178533

Is there a place where the top ranked Japanese and/or World players are listed?

Not really a question just something I thought was kinda interestng…

So most of my experience with SF games has been on consoles and because of this only sparingly did I ever use a stick, I was a pad player all the way. But last week I finally got my hands on a TE stick and I gotta say… Never again am I going back. But the interesting thing is that as I read through this thread I noticed that pad players, for the most part, either have trouble adapting or don’t adapt period. It was different in my case. I started playing championship mode not too long ago and never once reached a finals match that I can remember. I was stuck at G3-D for awhile. But the moment I plugged in that stick and went on training mode I was literally blown away by the sudden ease I encountered with inputting commands. My fireballs went from few and far between to a relentless flurry, much improving my zoning ability with Ryu and FADC is much easier to pull of now. Also I have a lot less trouble pulling combos or poking into specials and ultra. Long story short I noticed a favorable difference in my game right away and not only did I reach a few finals matches, I also won a few! :karate:

Dude… Now that you mention it I remember this happening to me also. Except I think my instance was during a Player Match and not ranked… :xeye:

It was DEFINITELY outside of championship mode though.

Hello SRK, Daedhead here, I’ve been lurking for about a month and finally decided to sign up. I’m 22 and I’ve been into fighting games ever since I was a kid but I seem to be a perma-noob.

I’m not a button masher at all, but I seem to have a pattern with fighting games, I learn a few combos for each character and then mix them up with normal attacks and proceed to get my ass kicked by people who know what they’re doing. I can generally beat all my friends, who are all button mashers but that’s not very satisfying at all. I wish I knew people in real life who were into fighters but alas I’m stuck with online. Which is why I’m here. I’m genuinely interested in improving my game so I can hang with the peeps online and I hear this is the best place to do it.

I’ve played Ryu in street fighter games for as long as I can remember, but in IV I’ve found myself gravitating towards Gouken and Akuma. I can do most of the special moves for all the characters but like most people, I’m best with the Shotos.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself, you probably won’t be seeing much of me, as I intend to mostly lurk around here. Any questions I may have are probably answered somewhere on the forums already and it’s not like I’ll have much advice to give. Or maybe I will, who knows. I’m just happy to be here.

What does BnB stand for in BnB combos?

great thread

Definitely not Bed and Breakfast.
Laugh.

It means Bread and Butter.
You know, like Meat and Potatoes.
They just go together; as in the basics.

And so mean a Combo that is easy to do and effective.

So basically, I’ve had my 360 since christmas of 2008 and have played nothing but shooters and RPGs. Back on my PS2 I used to be very much into fighters and lately I’ve felt like I wanted to digress from shooters and get back into fighters.

Street Fighter IV seems like a great starting point for me and I’m thinking about picking up the game. I would not be able to play on a stick immediately and I’ve heard that playing on a 360 controller is challenging.

So, that said, I was just wondering if you guys have any tips for a beginner to the Street Fighter series, such as general advice and how to effectively pick a character to main.

Thanks in advance.

Watch videos until you see a character that has gameplay that suits u. If you’re constantly excited when you see a character hit his bnb, that’s a sign you’d probably enjoy playing it.

Keep in mind that beginners who decide to pick up viper, fuerte and akuma usually get the crap beat out of them. Execution and spacing play a very important role in those characters that leads to big problems when you’re learning. It’s not impossible but it’s like learning how to drive on an indy car instead of a ford focus you borrowed from your mom.

Championship rank up - not!

I couldn’t find a section about online play, so I will ask this here.

I just won the final of a ranked championship and my rank went from G3-A to G2-E: this was actually announced in big letters on my “win” screen. Back in the menu screen, however, it still says G3-A, and I was just pitted against a G3-E! Did the loser of the final pull the plug after the battle or something, so that my win didn’t count?

Yes, that happens occasionally. You’ll usually get a message about the tournament not completing though.
