THE SF4 BEGINNERS Thread! NEW? POST HERE FIRST!

They do land on my predicted side, but slash right through my defense. Maybe they do an overhead in mid-air or something?

Also, quick question for those who have played SFIV, does anyone have a poke that is as godlike and as high priority (i.e. practically beats everything) as Dee Jay’s crouching strong?

Are you blocking low?

Everything in midair is an overhead. Block standing

well not everything in the air is overhead (dont think rufus’ dive kick is for example) but basically yeah

Hey SRK:
I’m RockCzar! I’m a Fender Bass and Street Fighter enthusiast. Seeing how I was on Harmony Central forums and not a fighting game forum, I decided to seek one out (both my loves need to be represented on the internets, no?) and found SRK. It’s beautiful here, although I hate to be part of the influx of “noobs” these pages have seen lately.

Well I’m no “noob” to fighters… I’ve been playing them since kindergarten and I’m “all grown up” now at 24 and looking to get my competition on. It’s great to be a part of such a bumping, dedicated community. I’ve listed my PS3 and 360 tags… so come challenge me in HD Remix! I got my TE stick yesterday and I’ve been itching for new opponents.

Thanks for having me! Cheers!

I’m l-XandeR-l and I’m going to try my bestest to get decent at SF4.

I’ve only ever been truly competive on shooters, where I played in several leagues for several different games. I’ve played SC4 casually, HDRemix casually and SSBB semi-competitively (I was rather active on smashboards as Marth).

In terms of Street Fighter, I played a VERY limited amount of it when I was a kid (I’m 21 now) and really only picked it up again last summer with 3S and CvS2. I’m a decent Ken I suppose (which is my real name as well. I felt it was a required choice) and I’m also probably going to toy with Blanka and Rose as secondary characters.

I have a decent group of guys where I work (GameStop) who know what they’re doing so I get decent practice but I never got into combos and such so that’s what my focus is going to be in SF4.

I’ll see you all on the boards!

Thanks a lot. I think this will help.

One of the first questions that came to mind was already asked  Now I know which way to block Rufus’s highly annoying looking dive kicks.

Another question I had is i’ve been hearing a lot about FADC’s lately and im not going to pretend to fully understand them yet but does anyone know if they are adressed in the training/challenge mode?

As per some analogies made earlier in the thread i’d rather be given the spoon than etc etc.

Roll on friday, although mine might not arrive till saturday :\

Question for the pros:

I’m working through the challenge mode, doin the combos etc, but I’m finding it hard to understand the timing for some of these combos. E.g. Jump+HK, HP, Shoryuken, Shinku Hadoken. I NOW know that you’re cancelling the shoryuken and buffering the super, but thats only after 1million attempts at the combo >< Is there a way to know beforehand how to time these combos?

It’s even hard doing a Jump+HIT, HIT combo sometimes, gotta time it ><

Yes, I am a newb.

Wow, just noticed I’ve been lurking for 2 years ><

I haven’t played the game yet.

Is the lobby setup like Turbo HD’s? (Big group of challengers, People can talk during matches, etc.?)

It has come to my attention that some new players feel they are being made to feel unwelcome on SRK.

Let me make myself clear. I and many others here have no problem with new people coming onto the site. However, we have little tolerance for laziness and/or stupidity. If someone is being flamed, it is because they chose not to bother reading the rules of the site and of this forum (the latter may be found in the sticky threads… like this one).

If you or any other members are being undeservedly harassed, PM us and we will deal with them. If you think we are being unfair, PM us with your concerns and we will explain our reasoning.

Think about it from the point of view of the moderators. We are doing everything we can to keep discussion on-topic and orderly. We refuse to have SRK degenerate into another gamefaqs.com.

Any questions?

A few questions.

  1. What are the differences when you are stunned? Sometimes theres skulls ontop of your head and sometimes its stars?

  2. How do you kara throw? (ken/ryu) Do you press jab, short, forward at the same time?

Hi there I recently played the game becuase a friend of mine imported it anyways now I am wating to get the game in my hands. Not sure who is going to be my main but I hope I can get good in this game fast  anyways cya around.

Greetings SRK

Yes, i am another new member with a question that has just been bugging me!

So before SF4 came out i have seen japanese players somehow cancel sagat’s ex tiger uppercut into a HK and then an ultra super. My question is: How do i cancel ex moves? So far i have been unable to find any online resources for this game, which actually inspired me to finally make an account on this forum.

I’ve been lurking in the HDRemix forums for a while now btw, so im not completely new.

BTW, for those who haven’t played the game its extremely awesome

hi srk,

im pretty new, I’m a regular tekken player on zaibatsu, but anyways…

im trying to get into SF4, what I really want to know is the SF language is. Can someone link me to a guide please?
thanks srk.

Halo.

I’m mainly a Wangan player, but aside from that I do have a fighter’s side. Name is Jeremie, but I go by “RemieGino14” Recently started getting back into Street Fighter because it brought back so much memories watching my brother play. (Back when Street Fighter 2: New Challengers were out in arcades.) Decided to come back and give it a try again since I used to suck back in the day. Main is Ken and I reside from Socal. Any Socal players here, hit it up. (People from Super Arcade or A.I) Hope to feel welcome here. :]

Sorry I don’t know where else to post this, so if it offends you I apologize in advance.

I have this problem when I’m online, I don’t get connection bars. No red, yellow, or green, just empty. Zero. Just the little icon (whatever it is supposed to be) flashes for 10 seconds then stops. I have yet to see a connection bar with anything in it.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

  1. Stun duration. The shortest is stars and I think the longest is skulls. I don’t know which one happens when though.

  2. I don’t know Ryu’s but with Ken you press the buttons almost at the same time. :r:+:mk:, :lp:+:lk:. You have to be very fast since you have 3 frame window after kick move. I do it like doing piano technique.

question about crouch combos

does anyone understand how people can do crouching combos and link them into dp’s? for some reason i can beginning to comprehend how to do this. any advice or techniques will help. thanks in advance.
