Press them RIGHT after you press the kick button
like litterally a split second after
HK -> MP+MK (Tap) ->HP…
I havent done it in awhile and dont feel like booting the game atm. As soon as you hit the heavy kick tap the focus attack then follow through the rest of the combo.
how to anti air gen? i looked up his frame data and he is in the air for only 30 frames. i play boxer and my c.hp and s.mp both are too slow (or is it just me?) i’m getting really messed up with his crossups.
Anyone?
You really just gotta be faster… watch him closely cuz his crossups are deadly. if nothing else just headbutt away from him to reset spacing. Try to zone Gen so that he cant cross you up.
alright, i’m new to sf4 and…
i’m unable to do a c.hp -> dan’s [shoryuken], for his hard challenge #2…
from the ducking punch i don’t know if i’m doing it too slow, or fast… there’s just no feedback to tell where i’m missing.
(i end up doing his special by accident if i try to spam into it)
thanks for the tips!
Try pressing D,F +HP the D,F+HP again to get the DP
Who is a good player to learn sf4 with?
Some who will help me learn the fundementals and is not too heavy on the execution (new to stick). Anyone other than Ryu & Ken?
Word on the street is Ryu is a good starter character.
:wtf:
Give Sagat or Gief a try
i think balrog or blanka is the best for learning to play charge characters.
I know it’s something that should be really minor and automatic, but honestly THANK YOU to all of you new members and players who were smart and humble enough to post their introductions and beginner questions in this thread rather than each making new and unnecessary threads for them.
We’re happy you guys are registered and playing.
Seconded. The beginners who post in this thread are the smart, good looking ones. :woot:
My pleasure! If I could make my own post atm though, I’d have to bitch about PSN disconnects. I’ve been disconnected like 15 times tonight from my opponent. Ridiculous.
i figured it out, i ended up using…
jump in kick, hold f
as you land d, hp -> f, hp
This is honestly some of the best advice for challenges. I know personally, and others I know, have literally formed calluses on their fingers / thumbs from the trials.
Some times you got to just take your mind off it.
Considering BP is pointless as of right now, I wouldnt worry about it too much
Hello,
Complete noob here, so sorry if these questions seem stupid.
First question. When doing a move, like a simple fireball, I seem to have much more success doing the quarter circle, and THEN hitting the punch, instead of hitting the punch right at the end of the quarter circle. From what I read, this doesn’t seem correct. Or is it?
Secondly, I’m having a bunch of trouble pulling off any sort of combo (like those found in lvl 3 of Challenges), which leads me to believe I must be doing something wrong. My main question is, when you’re doing combos, do you have to start each move of the combo from a neutral joystick position? For example, in C. Viper’s lvl 3 challenge, it wants a Crouch Medium Kick into a Thunder Knuckle (d,db,b + medium punch). So I press down and do a medium kick. Do I keep holding down and go straight into the Thunder Knuckle move, or do I let go of the dpad for a split second, and then do the Thunder Knuckle? The times where I have managed to do a crouch kick then Thunder Knuckle, it doesn’t register as complete, so I guess I’m just too slow? But it seems if I input the moves as fast as I can, it doesn’t do the moves at all.
Again, sorry for the noobish questions. I know I need a ton more practice. I just want to make sure I understand what the proper way to do things are instead of picking up incorrect habits
That’s just practice. You will probably find that if you turn on input display in training mode you’ll find that when you think you’re hitting punch at the end of the quarter circle but the move doesn’t come out it will tell you that you’re pressing punch while the stick is still in df. Practice is the key here…
That viper combo would be written: cr.MK xx qcb.MP You need to cancel the cr.MK into the thunder knuckle. There’s plenty of descriptions on how to time cancels earlier in this thread.
