hello! another newbie here, i used to play SF2 when i was younger, but since then not realy played many fighting games.
Im thinking of maining c.viper, even though i know it will take a bit of work. But getting good takes time anyway :wgrin:

anyone SF4 badazz in the Redmond/Bellevue/Seattle, WA area wanna help out a combos noob?
I’m asking because I’m having a hell of a time executing them and would appreciate it if someone can show me in person how to do them.
thx
hi, i have two question
can u trow someone out of a focus attack?
and
when i play agaisnt seth, after i beat him once, he levitates and then his attack patterns change, i go to trow him and it never works and he always counters with an animated suplex , is it impossible to trow seth in the boss battle
trow?
Hmm to be honest I’ve never tried Focus cancel throw, but I’m pretty sure you can. And yeah, Seth is supposed to get harder on the second round, Just don’t try to throw him, it’s a very painful procedure. Just try to be defensive and I found that if you use Heavy attacks, Seth will be pretty easy.
P.S I also have a question. It might be a little off topic though.
Does anybody know where I can get a good fightstick in Canada? And also, how the hell would I go about ordering the EX fightstick from Hori?
i mean throw
like if someone tries to throw u and u focuz cancel to avoid getting thrown
I am sure this has been asked countless times, but how do you choose a main?
I do not have a stick yet, so some options are limited, but I already know which characters I am good with and I like.
Do I need to play with someone experienced? Or does it come out naturally after playing a bit with all the cast?
So far I have enjoyed moderate success with Zangief, Boxer, Ryu and Sagat.
I would like to add Blanka to the above, but my liking him a lot doesn’t translate in me actually winning.
Street Fighter IV Tournament Boston MA May 29th for more info check out www.atbleague.com/sf4 or hit me up at info@awolboston.com
Just pick boxer zangief ryu and sagat for like 50 matches each online… then tally up the wins and how much fun you have winning…also dont lose to flowchart characters
What is a flowchart character?
I keep seeing that mentioned but it is not in any glossary I have read.
Is it something like a one-trick player, like the dp-happy Kens that make up 70% of online?
Are there any cool SF podcasts? I smashed through a lot of Gootecks’ one and found it extremley helpful, are there any others that are similiar?
right ok im no streetfighter beginner for sure, but new to playing it online. ive just played a few matches where ive been beaten by a lot of throws. basically the opponent has been jumping in, which ive been blocking to start, but then they manage to throw me before ive even recovered from my blockstun. ive also tried mashing my own throw buttons like hell in order to try and counter the throw, and tried fast jabs in order to push them back, but neither has been working at all!
im pretty certain you cant throw an enemy in block stun, so why is it i keep getting thrown?
btw im playing as abel too so no i cant DP them out the air my anti-jump options are limited.
@ sealhunta
as far as I know you can’t throw escape with a Focus cancel, maybe you should be more precise in your question.
@evilweevle
as far as I have understood it, no matter your blockstun, when your opponent tries to throw you, you have 10 frames to throw escape (tech) it.
Now lets look at it like this, your opponent ‘caught’ you, the startup of a throw is 3 frames, so you have atleast another 7 frames to throw escape.another advantage is, after you’ve throw escaped, you’re even with your opponent frame wise
And as Abel you have the option to use Sky Fall to pick them out of the air.
In a MAJOR slump
I have been a long time SF player (since WW came out), And most of the time it’s been casual. But with the HD Remix and SF4 coming out, I wanted to start playing competitive.
But it hasn’t been so good lately. I have been playing the player matches and trying to find competition and now I’m starting to regret it.
I HAVE NOT WON A SINGLE ROUND IN THE LAST THREE WEEKS!!!
I know I have to practice and keep trying, and I know it’s only a game, but come on! No wins in 3 weeks really kills the moral in a player. :grrr:
So, what do I do now? I don’t want to give up, but I also hate that fact that I’m losing to everyone.
yes, you can throw someone out of their focus attack. I’ve done it multiple times and others has done it to me more times then I can count.
Yes, you can be thrown while you’re charging a focus attack.
The reason Seth’s piledriver thow beats your throw is because it’s a command throw. These cannot be teched.
Yup. http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/228/1235456076791.png
They cannot throw you while you’re in blockstun, but they can throw you on the very first frame after you have recovered. Since a jab usually has 3 frames of startup a well timed meaty throw will beat it and your only option will be to tech it.
Since you’re using Abel you may want to try doing your command throw.
I play Gief, and I was thrown out of the first frames of an EX greenhand. Are invincible frames subject to being thrown?
Why not just tech the throw? Hit Throw right when they throw you to Tech it
Yes, but there are all sorts of them, from Tiger Shot / Uppercut spamming Fagots to the Air Fireball -> Red Fireball Akumas
Lots of flowcharts in this thread
Another newbie here. SFIV is the first fighting game I’m trying to get good at. Didn’t have so much fun with a video game in a very long time.
AFAIK yes, and considering you actually where thrown out of it, I’d say definetly yes.
sup all, I main Ryu and play on PS3 with controller.
