dont give him more excuses its obviously not lag he just sucks
rematch!
I am sorry if this has been answered before already but i have searched and NOTHING has come up. I played SFIV on my friend’s XBOX360 and I was able to rematch after a battle because me and the opponent would end up back at the lobby. But on the PS3 after the match is over, i’m at the screen where i choose RANK MATCH, PLAYER MATCH, etc.
Is it just the PS3 version of online or is there some setting i have missed?
Hello everyone, am new to the board. Have been enjoying SFVI so I decide to join.
I think that’s far from the only reason people pick those characters. I have no idea if any of the people i have played are on here; i set the game to find people of the same skill and go by available connection strength, though the matchmaking system is totally screwed up. I have no idea whether the people i play are noobs or whatever anymore than anyone else. I play who i play - when i can find a match that actually works.
It is by far and away the most difficult 360 fighter to play on the controller. Neither vf5 nor sc4 (which has some difficult controls) are anywhere near as difficult as this game. I haven’t seen anything in either of those games that comes close to Dhalsim’s first trial, for example. A combo i cannot physically perform. That combo requires a ridiculous speed of input combined with totally contrary joystick motions - simultaneously and I have given up trying to do it.
You can practise all you want, but unless you know what you are practising you are not going to get much out of it. So unless you understand the principles involved you will not make much progress.
That’s precisely why you provide a tutorial mode that teaches people the elements of the game and the principles involved. You can’t teach people everyone’s possible way of playing and learning arbitrary complex combos from the trial mode won’t help you.
The principle is they have allowed an exploit to remain in the game. I don’t think that’s a sensible way to do things. It’s no different than the control input method that allows Dhalsim to jump slightly before teleporting so he can get around the recovery time. That’s exploiting the game - yoga teleport has a specific recovery so you can’t just tp behind someone and hit them. But because of some esoteric button input that exploits the game mechanisms you can get around this. I don’t blame people for doing this (i can’t the inputs are too complex and the controller won’t do them), but the game shouldn’t allow this stuff.
predominantly playing people online is really the only option left in the game. The offline AI is far too ridiculous to play. It may well be lag, i have no way of knowing or doing anything about it.
You have to choose Player Match to play more than one match with the same person.
Ranked Matches only let you fight the one match and then you have to search again.

I guess it has to do with people basically getting free BP. I just think its weird that XBOX360 allows it but PS3 doesn’t even though it is essentially the same game and online capability seems to be the same.
360 doesnt allow it
Just because you can’t execute the commands doesn’t mean everyone should be punished for it. You talk about how you put over 100 hours in the game but still can’t deal with crossups or execute combos. Go back to the basics and learn the system of the game first.
hrm.
help i can’t break throws on reaction. i have been practicing throw breaking in training mode and i’m having a hard time. I use the record option and set the dummy to throw me. Then i use playback and stand in front of him and as soon as he grabs me i hit lk+lp. i have yet to break a single throw. seriously how many frames do you have after he gets a hold of you. I know in DR you have 8 and i can usually break throws just fine in that game. I only bring that up to give a base for my reaction time. So yea someone please help.
The Wiki says “Normal throws can be escaped by pressing LP + LK within 10 frames of the opponent starting to throw (within 7 frames of the throw hitting).”
wishface,
You are prime example of a scrub, calling everything that you fall for “cheap” or “broken”. Almost nobody whines about sweeps except you. How hard can it be to block low? Seriously, “the game won’t let me block low”? What kind of lame excuse is that? Fucking bullshit. That’s even worse than people who complain about throws.
The sweep is one of the worst-recovering moves in the whole game. If you can’t win an opponent who spams it, I suggest you leave and play turn-based games.
You are one of the reasons why people hate Mar 2009 users so much.
You probably have an easier time escaping them in DR because throw startup is way longer in Tekken (and in 3D games in general). In SF it’s not so important that you can tech throws on reaction, but more that you can predict when someone is going to throw.
I don’t think anyone can escape throws on reaction.
That’s a good thing, too. We don’t need more reason to turtle.
you didn’t read what I said. I didn’t say the game was broken. read it again.
I don’t know what you are specifically responding to as you didn’t quote me properly, but I’m not punishing anyone. That’s just needlessly emotive language.
I also didn’t say i can’t execute combos. Again you aren’t listening. If you dont read what people say properly, how can you respond?
How would you propose people learn the basics of the game given that it doesn’t have a tutorial mode that does so.
Being rude doesn’t make you right, it just makes you rude. I’ve merely expressed my opinion. You can either agree or disagree. If simple courtesy is beyond you then don’t respond.

Should have posted here straight away, might have avoided some negative reps with “09” as the comment.
Hope to be able to contribute here in some capacity in the future.
You do know there has been a fighting games scene for a really long time right? You do know that few to no games have included a tutorial mode right? You do know people have learned the basics of these games on their own right?
I’m really starting to think your a joke account or something.
