I just bit the bullet and ordered a Madcatz SF4 TE stick and I’m looking forward to playing some of you guys on GGPO. FINALLY some online Street Figther for me with a proper arcade stick. I could never do my thing on a regular controller.
Yeah, they have CE, HF, ST, and AE on GGPO.

Just a word of warning. SF2HF (and possibly other CPS1 games) desync badly on GGPO, and also feature some bizzarre (and often funny) audio and other bugs. Until these problems are sorted, I highly recomend playing on 2DFighter.com instead. Whatismore, 2DF saves replays online so others can view your matches.

Yeah Im on there but I never play on 2df since there arent many players ever on there. All I see are players from China or Brazil or france that would be unplayable due to ping. but never U.S. players.

i’ve never had a problem with desynchs with hf on ggpo, but i’ll take your word for it. I’m not too fond of 2df. Sure it’s good, but ggpo is just so much better. And i second what a lot of people have said, i’m always looking for HF matches on ggpo, but there’s never anyone on.

Ok guys Im gona be organising an online SF2 HF tourney.
How we’ll do it is to create brackets, and set timeframes and players can contact eachother and arrange to play thier matches when its suitable for both of them. This means that even a fairly small tourney may take a few weeks to play out, but since were all so spread out around the globe, there is gona be no way we could just arrange a day ll to be online.
Anyway, if you interested post in the thread or pm me. I’ll start to compile a list of names and ill be contacting people who i know too.
Where possible it would be nice to play the matches on 2DF since the replays are saved and ill capture and put the best ones up on youtube.
I already have some of the best names in Europe commited and if we can get some of the players in this thread involved, it could be a really great competition.

Hey Crayfish, thanks a lot for consider me on this tourney, but im almost very sure that the lag will be sort of bad with me against the US crew, im from Chile and i played some ST with US guys, sometimes it works decent, sometimes is unplayable… so i dont know if it a good idea to enter this tourney.
Still if anyone want to try a fight with me tell me here, my user is Hayama Akito on 2DF and Hayama in GGPO.
Yes there have been a few concerns raised about ping and such.
Clearly we need to be realistic about this, and accept not every match will have good ping. If enough people sign up from both sides of the Atlantic and the problem is very pronounced, maybe the tourney could be split into US and Euro brackets, then the winner of each plays for overall champion, like the superbowl.
Im going to look into how other online tournies have been run also to see how they deal with these issues and things like forefeits for people not making thier matchs in time. But at the end of the day, we need to be gentlemen about these matters and try to work with what we have. We have a good idea of the good players among us and what strats are solid, so if ping does come into play in results, I dont think we need take every outcome as a final statement. And there should be room for personal agreements to replay matches if both sides agree there were issues.
So please conduct yourselves well people, we are SF2 players, the grand old gentlemen of the SF scene, we need to set a good example for all these young punks who would kill thier grandmothers for funds to money match in SF4.
