I haven’t played hf in almost a year but I’ve had a lot of experience in this matchup and there is no doubt in my mind that ryu has a significant advantage. Like dasrik said it’s not free for ryu but sagat has shitty normals and terrible priority on tu so ryu doesn’t have to work too hard. I don’t know the frame data but if ryu n sagat start throwing fb’s at the same time it takes until the fifth for sagat to gain the advantage in the fb fight. Dp’s and rh hurricane AKA most retarded move in the game shut down sagat but it’s not as bad as it sounds because he can gain frame advantage by tk’ing over ryu’s fb going for a nice 30% off a fierce tu or throw and go back to fb mixups.
Although ryu has a solid advantage sagat’s tu is the strongest move in the game (confirm?) making ryu think twice about trying to jump in and corner him but if he doesn’t he’s going to chipped to death by fb’s which can always be tk’ed over.
Just my 2cent and don’t get cornered IMO sagat has a ridiculously hard time getting out of the corner when being pressured by shotos.

Hahaha so true. I’ve always felt Ryu’s Hurricane Kick is the best move in all of SFII’HF. Huge invincibility, crazy damage, decent speed/range. <3 it though.

I’m looking for HF players in the D.C. area. I have an original, dedicated Champion Edition cabinet with the HF upgrade with a 25" monitor and new joysticks (I have new buttons too but haven’t put them on yet. The old ones work just fine for now). I’m tired of playing with casual players who are like, “oh cool”, when they see the arcade but only want to put in about 20 mins of play time. So, if any of you hardcore players live in the D.C. area and want to play some games on a sweet, sweet, set up, let me know.

Quick note: Tessai - I would love to make a trip down to DC sometime before the year runs out. If you can get a few HF heads down there as well it make it worth while, I am down for it. Perhaps even a bed for me to sleep on too. 
Okay, So I am a ryu player who sucks. Part of the reason I am not as good as I wish I was is the fact that I am unable to determine the exact safe positioning of fireball traps. Also, not so much HF but in ST I suck against claw.
I am not asking what I should do in these situations, but more so are there claw players and good Anti-ryus that can tell me their mindset when they start the match? I think this would help me out a lot. Also, feel free to pull the “we already mentioned this on page 23” card.
I would love to get a few players. It is my home so I don’t know if I want a million people. 1-5 guests at a time would suit me fine. I think 3 or 4 players total, including myself, would be ideal. In so far as me being able to put you up for the night, I really would man, but all I’ve got is my bed and a little love seat. You are, once again, welcome to come down and play.
