Post those vids up! Always good to see some great matches

I love how quickly Gief recovers from being dazed.

I’ve made it to Bison twice without losing but he beat me both times. I know this is supposed to be an easy match up for Z but I have trouble with it. I can beat the PC with the lariat no problem but the rest of the match up isn’t so easy. Any tips?

How big of a disadvantage would you all say Sagat is at against Blanka and Chun LI? How would you rate these match ups? (4-6? 4.5-5.5? etc.)

Tessai:

Z vs. Bison: Walk forward with fingers hovering over PPP. If he does anything on the ground, lariat. Once you get within range, use jump splash repeatedly until you can get in range to do c.LPx2, s.LK, SPD. Repeat until death.

As for Sagat vs. Blanka/Chun, I’m not sure about Blanka, but last I checked Sagat destroys Chun.

still haven’t gotten those vids & the tournament didn’t happen because of a mvc2 tourney going way over time (thanks to some guys jumping on the sticks every chance they got and the organiser eventually pulling the plug on the tv to get them off)

Ultima, thanks for the tips. As far as Sagat vs. Chun, I don’t have any problems against the cpu. She jumps too much and I’m all too happy to TU her. The SF Bible, as referenced and linked on page one, says it’s a bad match up for Sagat so I thought that I might run into problems against human Chuns who might play her differently than the cpu does. When you say Sagat destroys Chun does that include human vs. human? I think that’s what you meant but just to confirm…

Jumping knee-press seems to be the safest jump attack to set up for the tick-throw SPD. It’s slightly harder to kick him out of the air with by jumping over his head or if Honda does the belly flop. Low HK into the SPD is your best friend, especially since alot of Honda players tend to be soft low. It has HUGE range, (actually out-ranges Vega) LONG block and hit-stun… completely broken. And certainly don’t forget about your Insta-Dizzy (what sort of smack were they slamming into their veins at Capcom when they gave him that, anyway!?!)

…and a bit off the topic: Ryu, top-tier? I could certainly see the argument, but I’ve got to believe that (Bro)Ken is top. I mean, I’ve seen some great Ryu players absolutely dominate, and certainly the insane priority of the delayed Hurricane Kick is a plus… but I’ve never seen a one-hit victory with Ryu like I’ve seen with Ken. One cross-up and the match is literally over with some Ken players. It seems like Ryu’s damage is slightly inferior to Ken, so it’s more like two-hit wins with Ryu… still broken… but not quite as bad as Ken.

Quit throwing around the term ‘broken’; you obviously have no idea what it means.

The reason why Ryu is better than Ken is he can get those two hits way easier than Ken can get his one due to Ryu’s blowthrough hurricane kick and faster fireball (seriously in competitive play Ken’s fireball recovery is painfully slow). Ken is not bad per-se, but he’s outclassed.

How do some of you Sagat players handle the hurricane kick? I can TU it, fireball it, or jump kick it if I see it coming but if Ken/Ryu is close I can only stand and block while taking some damage, or duck and let it go over me all the while letting Ken/Ryu get behind me. What’s the best thing to do here?

Also, I know Ryu is ranked #1 over all but who has the edge in a head to head match between Ryu and Sagat?

Beyond the fact that you offered your opinion where it wasn’t needed and/or appreciated… calling Ken ‘Bro-Ken’, particularly on Hyper Fighting, is 100% astute. I’ve seen one-hit wins with the character. Tell me that is balanced.

And as for Zangief’s low HK, I stand by that as well, though it was admittedly more hyperbole than anything.

And lastly, I don’t need your advice on how to speak. Do what most ignorant dolts do when they feel the need to criticize something that has nothing to do with them: make a blog. Or better yet, just close your yap.

It is, and it’s also extremely stupid. One thing about HF is that a lot of characters have really stupid stuff. Ken is certainly one of them, and yeah, his one-hit kill nonsense is as stupid as it gets, but enough other characters have enough stupid stuff so that Ken’s bs balances him out. He’s good, but he’s not top tier.

Considering you are confirmed to be absolutely terrible at Street Fighter 2, and you are proving your SFII’HF knowledge is extremely limited, you should get the fuck out of this thread.

Can’t we all get along?

Before E. Honda sits on you?

What are you basing this on? Beyond the fact that I never say a word about my level of skill on this board, you’ve never played against me once.

I’ve played you countless times on SFII’HF and HSFII (AE). You’ve made several posts whining about tickthrows and saying stuff is broken (not just this thread). You continue to prove you are a scrub, both by your play and your stupid posts on this forum. Anyone can see that.

So please, if you’re going to keep making stupid posts, get the fuck out.

Who has the advantage in a head to head match, Ryu or Sagat?

I’d say Ryu myself. It’s not like free or anything though. Just there’s a range where Sagat can’t do much of anything without risking getting helicoptered and Ryu loves that range like a fat kid loves cake. (kills self)

But if you have good execution and your opponent is ho-hum I think it’s lots easier for Sagat due to TK chicanery and the fact that average Ryus chuck fireballs like they were going out of style and intermediate Ryus (like me ^.^;) just do short HKs whenever.

Thanks for the answer Dasrik. Who would you say has the advantage head to head, Ryu or Guile?

If you have some time, you should look through this thread. At least, I believe it was this thread that there was a debate for tiers and reasoning behind them, with some decent discussion.

But to answer your question: Ryu.
