just an update cray, a friend of mine went out and got some hf footage on my behalf. I haven’t seen it so I have no idea if its good or not. When he does upload it i’ll link it regardless.
Thanks alot for taking the lead Endless  Yes LeRaldo is very good, and by far the best HF Boxer player I’ve seen. Love to see his Boxer against a good Ryu, thats a great matchup. Now where are the rest of you?!
Wow thats fantastic news Spoonz, thanks alot for sorting this out. It’ will be a kick just to see a real arcade with people playing who still take HF seriously, and in a bit of an exotic location (well for me anyway:wgrin:). Great work!!
:encore:
Massive thanks to Spoonz and his friend for bringing us some top class footage from the occidental capital of Hyper Fighting, Trinidad & Tobago.
The couple of matches I’ve seen so far were top class (awsome Ryu vs Sagat match), and I love the way you guys talk (is Patois a blanket term or Jamacia specific?). http://www.esnips.com/web/kevaughn69Videos
Not overly familiar with this site, anyone know if its possible to watch full screen, or save the vids?
Great work again Spoonz, please thank your friend for us.
btw I’ve spoken to Korea_SF2CE abt the China tourney vids, he has them but is very busy with work related things atm and apologised. We’ll just have to be a little patient with these, sure they’ll be worth the wait  Crayfish.:china:
er we don’t speak patois down here, i’m not too sure if its jamaican specific but i doubt it is. Our dialect is just really broken and we always come up with the silliest shit to say.
As for the videos I still haven’t seen them
EDIT
I was just told one of the matches has a girl playing Ryu, I’ll get the files tomorrow from the guy so I guess see then.
Ok I can confirm what I said I suspected earlier in this thread…
Guile’s backfist has more startup in hyper fighting than in either CE or ST. (edit: I was wrong, see post below… its the sonic recovery time that is worse)
Pretty sure this makes hyper fighting Guile suck. Mike Watson once told me that the only difference between CE and HF Guile was damage… I’m shocked he didn’t notice the shittier backfist… It makes the Ryu Guile fight terrible for Guile…
It’s the same in HF as in CE, with 10 startup frames, 5 active frames, and 18 recovery frames. You’re right about the ST version being faster, though, as it has 7 startup, 6 active, and 10 recovery.
Thanks for the link. Actually I guess I was wrong about the backfist startup, I apologize. Ultradavid, youre forgetting that in ST far standing fierce is just a different move.
However…
I was completely sure that backfisting things after sonic was harder in HF than in CE or ST… and now I can see why. HF guile’s sonic boom has 5 extra recovery frames! Geez… that’s even more of a disaster. How could this not be commonly known? thats bigger than the nerf o sagats fireballs are getting in remix…
edit: and flashkick recovery time is also worse by a country mile…
Soz abt my absence of late. After years of steam wheezing, ancient PC ownership, I finaly got uptodate with a top spec PC system and have been totaly blown away by whats happened in gaming since say… 1997!!
Anyway couple of really nice developments:
UberCyberBeast releases another awsome HF combovid, this time for Honda.
*Its like my Honda vid:
but about 1000 times better in every regard…
Also Acho recently ran a HSF2 tourney that only allowed HF, SSF2 & ST.O versions. *Seemed to set a lower speed too (HF speed I think). Now most of the competitors used SSF2 or ST.O charas since thats all they really know (SSF2 Blanka FFS!!), but to me this was a hugely exciting development, since these rules (inc the speed setting) are my fave way to play SF2, even moreso than plain HF, so I really hope there is more to this than a one off novelty tourney… Time to consult ‘Nohoho’… http://www.a-cho.com/ac.html
*6th red box down on the left for the videos.

*Need to get back on nFBA asap, soz guys… Crayfish.
Actually the nerfing of the Sonic Boom within HF has been known for a long, long time now. I’ve actually posted this on more then one occasion in this thread about the nerfing of Guile’s SB with the 5 extra frames.
Even with this slight nerf, Guile is still ridiculously strong in HF, just not CE insane.
Lets not forget the fact that in HF Guile’s flash kick takes 2.5 secs to come out rather than 2 seconds Thats why you can not do jumping fierce to a standing fierce and then a flash kick in HF. Also, if you notice if someone blocks the flash kick guile will freeze their for a moment makes it worse recover than CE were in that game if they block it you can do a low foward right after that. Man I just dont understand why japan always have to weakin guile in SF, maybe because people dont like to lose to defense?:lame:
meh, I dont understand why people say Hyper Fighting is so balanced. Ryu seems the best character by a landslide. I dont see who can even compete with him for the top spot.
At least in CE you have Ryu Guile and Bison all being really good.
Edit: sorry I guess I should say that HF is clearly more balanced than CE just in the sense that the crappy characters arent nearly as crappy. But when I think about the balance of a game I basically remove the crappy characters from consideration altogether.
But like, in CE I couldnt tell you who the best pick is between the 3 characters I mentioned.
In ST I honestly couldnt tell you who the best pick is between Sim Boxer Chun Claw and O Sagat.
But in CE Bison smokes everyone who is not Ryu or Guile for free. And in CE you have Balrog and Gief who get killed by fireballs (especially Rog can do absolutely nothing against them).
In HF however the gap between the characters is much smaller. In HF Rog has his invincible TAP and Gief has his quick lariat which is invincible to low attacks.
EDIT: ok nevermind, I was already writing when you edited your post.
