I dream of someday, someone will arrange an OG playfest, but taking it to the next level. Tachikawa, the OG God of Japan is still playing from time to time ST with Daigo and others. If we cannot get Tomo vs him, why not Watts or Jeff?
That would be DOPE imo.
All of them are out of their prime sure, but Watts have shown on all the HF recent tourneys that he has what it takes.
Edit: was the Bison infinite known those days? When the Koreasf2ce guys surfaced here, it was the first time I actually saw that combo.
No problem, the balance for Hyper Fighting, it was vehement that the #1 goal was to make sure that we didn’t have another CE. Dictator situation again lol. He really got nerfed though, and may arguably be the only really unplayable character in there, although I’ve heard others say he was still playable though being the overall worst character in there.
Hyper Fighting to me, was the absolute pinnacle and the best point of the SF2 era. Fireball, footsies, zoning, and fundamentals were at it’s absolute zenith. No supers, or universal options were introduced yet, so it was all about the character and the tools that they had.
I barely play SF these days, but on ocassion, yet when I’m free and not busy with real day life, I’ll play this game once in a blue moon, which is mainly when the old heads I know get together and we decide hey, let’s play some Hyper Fighting.
When we do, it’s still as fun as the old times when we were in our early teens back in the day, not to mention the trash talking is just as good lol.
Wow, Mr. Mention is something else. Tough to beat. I played him and he cleaned my clock. I played him on Playstation with my TE stick and I can’t get my special moves off with any consistency with the stick. I hit maybe 20% of my fireballs and DPs with the stick. On my cabinet with American sticks and buttons I think I hit better than 95% of my fireballs and maybe 90% of my DPs when you factor both sides (I need to improve that). Watching Mr. Mention beat Justin Wong made me feel a little better because while I didn’t feel like I could give Mention my best on my TE stick, after watching what he did to Justin Wong I’m certain that Mention could beat my on my own cabinet anyway.
