The Sentinel Team Maker Thread

I play Taskmaster/X/Doom (missiles) and have been teamhopping for months to find a good second slot who can extend combos or add to Taskmaster’s zoning, is a damaging DHC, and who can benefit from Doom missiles a lot for zoning. I might try Sentinel but I’ve always shied away since it doesn’t seem like Drones can help Taskmaster extend combos into sharp sting to set up for double arrow lift with missile assist, but really I’m starting to think the extra zoning help might overshadow the ability to add a bit of extra damage and practicality in extending combos.

Does anybody know of any nasty Task/Sentinel tricks or ways to extend with drones (or other assists besides his OTG one, probably won’t be using that…) that I’ve not seen before? Anybody used this team before or have some go-to bnbs that are specific to this team? I’d appreciate all insight!

What kind of characters benefit the most out of Sent drones? This may be the wrong thread to ask since it seems to be mostly who helps Sent rather than the other way around, lol.

I’d say drones helps out anybody but you know that. What kind of characters are most optimized for drones though are obviously character that control the neutral well on their own like say, Magneto Deadpool Dormammu Nova Wolverine or hell even Captain America.

All 7 of the characters in your sig for one(yes, even sentinel). But I guess if your talking about optimization ill have to go with characters with good high low/left right mix-ups. Since they keep you blocking for so long, it allows those characters to run a good number of mix-ups without having to worry about getting air-thrown or poked out of them. It also helps ranged characters since it leaves one less angle for them to worry about covering for like 5 seconds, plus if they hit someone like deadpool could theoretically transition immediately from defense to offense, while someone like hawkeye can pull of a quick full screen arrow string.

Running Wolvie(slash)/Sent(drones)/Akuma(tatsu) and it’s smooth so far. Drones and tatsu make wolverine a machine, a dude by the name of wolverine-master posted a vid in the wolverine team thread showing off solid wolv/sent combos. Sentinel can get heavy damage off of tatsu, but wolverine w/drones+tatsu is pretty nice. Thinking about switching sentinels assist to rocket punch for some combo variation though.Thoughts?

You can get extended combos using the OTG, but it you would technically be working with 1 assist for your neutral. Drones are still better.

So I’m trying to build a good point Sentinel team just for fun. Right now I’m working on Sentinel-drones/Raccoon-log/Ammy-coldstar. Imo Raccoon/Ammy is a longterm high tier shell so there’s that and Sentinel seems to work really well with log trap assist. He can float around, capitalize on it really easily regardless of whether he’s flying or standing from anywhere on screen (with either air MS or dash S), it can cover that space under him well, and he can mix up with it well. On confirm, he can get meter neutral 700k or for 1 bar he can get just under a million. Coldstar is good for him in mixups too and can help extend some of his combos. If I dhc, Rocket works really well with Sent drones. What do you think?

I been playing Sent/RR/Skrull(stone smite) as my main team for a while now and I do have to say log is crazy good with Sentinel. The way I’ve be comboing with log trap is dash jumping HS land M launch air combo.

Some of the things I’ve found with the pairing is its real easy to sneak the assist call in. He can call log trap while double jumping and flying so that its off screen but his model is so huge that if you step forward a little after calling log trap Sentinel completely obscures RR has he comes in.

I also find that a large amount of the time if you started to get hit as the log trap connects Sentinel can get up fast enough to still pick up the combo with the same log trap, even after teching from knockdown.

Also Log trap allows you to pick up from a corner L command grab with L-rocket punch log trap M(allowing for auto correct). You can also pick up a combo from across the screen with log trap M-rocket punch.

Yea I like sentinel/raccoon, Im just not sure about sentinel/raccoon/amateresu, I feel once sentinel dies your gonna have issues doing any damage since RR and ammy both max out around 700k, and ammy’s DHC is just awful so RR isn’t getting any extra damage off that. Unfortunately I don’t know what assists the raccoon works well with so I don’t know who to recommend for an anchor. On the other hand though, you could try sentinel/xx/raccoon and fit any character you have an interest in playing that gets some mileage off log trap. But yea sent/log trap sounds like a blast, wishing you the best with it.

Rocket/Ammy is really good imo, lots of crazy practical unblockable setups on incoming or any knockdown.

So for all you point sentinel enthusiasts, tried out sentinel/dante/akuma today, and it definitely seems like one of, if not the best point sentinel team you can develop. With jam session and tatsu you have two of the best vertical and horizontal assists respectively in the game, both are in the top 5 for sentinel assists, dante gives sent access to st.:h: cr.:h: HSF from full screen and once sent dies you have dante/akuma, quite the pairing, finally you have anchor akuma guarding the fort, who, as knives showed this weekend is more than a capable anchor.

Seriously, I can’t believe it took me this long to think about this team. I was just messing around during casuals and was looking for a way to level up both my sentinel and dante and came up with it.

Always a pleasure, Im probably never gonna adopt the team as a main team but I do plan on using it during casuals a lot more frequently.

i’m feeling the same way since i already have a secondary with cap/vergil, but this team makes more sense to me since i’ve been looking for an optimal sent team

I don’t understand why everyone insists on using sentinel supported by Doom. I think the other way around works so much better…

Either way can work, but Sentinel backed by Missiles makes him more deadly with spits into flight cancels and safe rocket punches, in addition to safe whiffs (cuz missiles break combos most of the time)

Well like jones said, it works both ways and some people wanna play sentinel on-point as opposed to on anchor all the time. It depends on what you want, I mean the strongest order is definitely doom/sentinel but that doesn’t mean you can’t run the other order.

Doom/Sentinel have some of the best synergy in the game because they work in either order perfectly and you can decide whether to play really lame or really aggressive with them. If doom/sentinel team super was as good as ammys you’d see it used more imo.

and I have played a live opponent with em yet… but I love how Drones+Miya barrier allow Phoenix to get what he needs. I have set-ups to get him in a combo to get into turnabout and mess things up… but while I’m pointing my finger at people, (Hit or Miss) I’m using Ammy’s bloom to build as much meter as I can… And when Phoenix’s Turnabout ends, I THC and gather more evidence while Ammy keeps them off of me for soooooooooo long that I’m practically ready to turnabout again… It’s ridiculous the way it works.
