The Sentinel Team Maker Thread

It’s one of the few good Phoenix Wright teams. Just always make sure that you have the movement and flight cancels down with Sentinel.

Also, have you tried using Cold Star assist? It would help out Sentinel greatly with locking the down for stomps and cr.M’s.

Fairly new to mahvel :V

Been running Tron/Frank/Sent at the moment since I like Tron and Sentinel as heavy hitting/armored/grappler type characters I play in other fighters. Sent’s lack of bulk now can be annoying at times due to the nature of him NEEDING a decent amount of health to armor stuff.

Say what you will about Sent but he does seem to fit best being in the x-factor level 3 position for my team as his damage output is absolutely nuts even by x-factor standards without powered up/dark forms :V

Assist support with Sentinel Force has been great for backing up Tron and her very huge hurtbox.

If need be if Tron or Frank have trouble with certain characters and they NEED to kill them TAC into Sentinel infinite has saved them a LOT of hassle before using Sent force bombs to cover tagging back into them when the opponent’s next character comes in again.

So far I’ve been having trouble as Sent against Spencer, Zero and Taskmaster. I feel like trying to zone OR armor these guys is really hard to do due to their moves either ignoring armor or with task’s case being able to just cancel most of his stuff into counter before any armored moves stuff his attacks. Any advice against these 3? Is flight a good thing to try use against Zero?

Re: VS Bad Matchups

(These all assume that they are 1v1 matchups, since assists can really change the whole matchup)

Against Spencer:

  • You have to be really careful with him because he can freely zip at you and try to air throw you, but you can block the zipline and air grab him so can combo afterwards, but you have to remember that you must have meter to convert off a throw. Unfortunately, he can turn a wire grab into some nasty damage against Sentinel.

You have to play very patiently and look if the Spencer player gets into a rhythm or flow-chart mode. You have to slowly dash up and try to armor through his attacks (it’s not very hard). Remember: He can potentially kill you in 1 combo, you mostly cannot…

One good thing though, is that if you anticipate a Bionic Arm, you can st. :m: to armor the hit and immediately cancel into a command grab and it will connect.

Against Taskmaster:

  • This matchup is slightly easier than Zero/Spencer because you can try to bully him if he’s near the corner. Just play your distance if he tries to throw arrows at you. Most of the time, they’ll fire air :m: arrows (the diagonal arrows), you can clash and hit him out of it if you’re close enough with a well-timed j. :m: and get a beefy combo. If the Taskmaster player knows how to consistently do the double arrow super in the corner, then you’re screwed because that means he gets to kill you in a single combo, while you can’t do the same (unless you use X-Factor).

You have to be careful whenever you fly around when he has a bar for super. One mistimed cleat from Sentinel could equal about a little over 25% life, even more if you’re cornered and he has more meter.

You also cannot simply Hard Drive to safety if Tasky has meter. He can either counter super Hard Drive (it works on HD, even against Wolvy’s Fatal Claw super) or dodge the super and simply do an Arrow super from full screen.

You just have to patiently move in to hit him and deal as much damage as possible, or even reset him after you managed to land a clean hit on him.

TL:DR - You gotta play it carefully. BE PATIENT! You have to pay real close attention so you can find an opening in your opponent’s attacks.

I wouldn’t consider Spencer a problem matchup. He lacks multi hit normals, he doesn’t quite have the ground speed/dash hurtbox to get under a sentinels fL and fH, and Bionic Arm doesn’t really threaten sentinels neutral game at all. Zip isn’t really a problem; if it was, you could just hard drive on reaction.

Task is a problem, but not really for the reasons mentioned. His multi hit normals blow up armor, and he can easily get under sentinel when he’s flying, where sent can’t really do anything to protect himself from pressure. Getting hit by an arrow hyper after hard drive is a fair trade for getting out of corner pressure that could end with you getting ToD’d.

Of course, Sentinel struggles in general when by himself. I’ve taken to using __/sentinel/dante over dante/sent, and IMO, is the much stronger format with much better matchups.

Use rocket punch M to wipe spencer full screen grapple line. Once they notice theyll take grounded approach and you dominate the air w/sentinel

What is the take on sent /strider. In theory it seems like it would be a great duo. Vajra hits level 2 sent kills off of otg minimal meter spent. I’ve been using team marn but whack bot is kinda fun.
