The Sengoku Basara series Thread: NO POLEDANCING KASUGA FOR YOU!

Yoshiaki Mogami is a fucking trip…dude has a fucking COUNTER.
Took me about 15 tries to realize that I shouldn’t even attack him when he’s drinking his tea.

Thanks Mogami…you were the only one to bring me to NEAR FUCKING DEATH!

Wait until you play as Kotaro Fuma. You’ll be dying like a motherfucker until the concept of always staying in the air clicks.

Either that, or you can spam dash cancelled towards + triangle.

Well thanks a lot.

LOL, he is badass. Problem is, he’s also a glass cannon. One of the few characters that I had to beef up in Normal before I could play on Hard.

I don’t think Kotaro takes any beefing stat-wise if that’s what you meant, you just need to equip lots of locust items.

Kotaro needs his L1 + Triangle move to provide sufficient crowd control and air mobility for the higher difficulties, and you also need to get weapons with slots to hold said locust items.

Ieyasu brought me to the brink of death with Kotaro.

Can you extend his flight time?

Yeah, you can air dash off of a shuriken toss to reset the flight time.

ah yeah true, I wasn’t thinking in that sense, I just figured that was obvious haha

You can actually regain his air dash with any aerial move as long as it connects, excluding the airdash itself and it’s shuriken fullowup of course.

I just spam normal moves. I haven’t died yet. There isn’t a lot of strategy in these kind of games (which is why I rarely play them)

I haven’t died with Kotaro, I just find myself low on life since I don’t block on normal difficulty.

There’s a block button?

Eh, I always play DW/SW/SB games on hard/chaos/extreme to keep things interesting. The strategy in SB is to look cool while not getting hit too much, while the DW/SW strategy is to have a perfect route + fast horse to kill as many generals as quickly as possible.

:rofl:

Yeah, L1 blocks and dodges, like in DW/SW.

Stu: There’s a block button for those?

We’ve been playing on Hard mode. And I was being serious. I had no idea that there was a block button.

Here’s how I do it- Make sure your Basara Gauge is full before you race him. When ur following him, press O when you reach the first red box to get a speed boost, make sure to break as many red boxes as you can. When you reach an area that has a high and low path, take the lower one. After this take the right path. Press O when the gauge is full and when near a red box. In order to beat Masamune your horse must touch the drum in the base you must reach.
Sorry if this seems confusing, but you’ll figure it out when you do it.
The hard part is figuring out how to beat Kojuro @@ I guess you need to be very far ahead of him for the bonus @@

Oh and Oichi isn’t that hard to damage if u don’t KO Base leaders, just have your attack at say 1500 or 2000. I think you can damage her pertty well at 1000.

Here’s a little interesting tidbit for anyone having trouble getting the bonuses in Mogami’s stage- Have a Read Line equipped with as many Mantises as you can, then KO every base leader as quickly as possible, don’t bother with the squad leaders and the enemies, if you only focus on opening the Mogami gate, then the leaders should recapture the camps.
For the 2nd bonus, when you reach the very last Base leader, don’t go and fight Mogami. With the gate that leads to Mogami in front of you, turn right and you’ll find a ‘secret’ path.

All I did to beat Masamune in the race was repeatedly use jump and then Basara when near the finish to blow past him.

My biggest problem fighting her was the camera angles, where the camera instead of looking ahead at what I was doing, I got caught in that darkness sweep thing, with the camera dead set on Ieyasu’s ass.

Which killed me of course, and it sucked. Oichi’s not hard, she’s just a big WTF in general.

Another Ieyasu note for everyone: You can tack on his TAP to the end of a BASARA attack. Just release triangle right after the last punch, and he’ll add the TAP immediately afterwards. Pretty awesome. Although I’m still amazed at how much damage

direction + triangle -> charged square followup -> jump -> L1 + triangle -> mash square

does. Hooooooly.

Ieyasu -
N x 4 cancel Eastern Wind x 8 -> Hero Mode -> Eastern Wind x 8 cancel Basara = 90% on bosses.

Aw, sweet. I know I’ve seen him do three punches at the end of his Basara, but I never bothered to figure out how (I just assumed it was b/c I might’ve been near death too & did a “True Musou” of sorts). I wonder if he can do four punches then.

Is Eastern Winds that Ora Ora/Muda Muda punch flurry he does? Bosses always seem to fall out of the juggle midway whenever I use it :bluu:.
