Mitsunari is insane. A worthy clone of Vergil imo. lol.
Nope, it’s not a one hit kill, it just does a SHIT TON of damage. Shimazu’s also takes NO timing at all and it’ll kill Honda and Tachibana in one hit on any difficulty.
Yeah we just call it teleport canceling because you now how he has teleport followups to L1+T and R1, well you can do the cancels off of those teleports too. The timing is a little tighter, but you can constantly flow between his moves with basically no startup or recovery.
lol yeah i was messing with that shit last night, he is so fucking great.
edit: in regards to the r1 options, i am fairly new to using anything out of it (as i just realized last night that you could hold it and link more stuff afterwords), so you mind dropping some specifics on if i have to charge r1 and what is able to get linked after, etc?
ty
Well, anytime you hold T when you do L1+T or hold R1 when doing that, you’ll automatically teleport to the nearest enemy. The teleport happens much faster than when you do f+T though so you have much less time to input the next skill. You can link ANY skill with a teleport, EXCEPT the skill you used the teleport off of. So for example, if you have the first R2 skill you could do SSS, [T](air teleport), j.SS[S](back to ground teleport), L1+T, R1, [R2](air tele), [T](back to ground tele), etc.
Something to note about R1 is that even if you do a non-held version of it from a teleport, it’ll still startup instantly and of course you can move around while it’s attacking as well.
interesting, i’m going to have to give that some attention this weekend when i’m not busy playing UO lol.
Did some farming for tier 1 weapons . For this game, I consider their weapon just as much a part of a character’s iconic image as their costume. Of course when I try to tackle the higher difficulties I’ll switch to more practical weapons.
Played for 23 hours now and have only gone through Ieyasu, Yukimura, & Kotaro’s campaigns 1x each. Most of my time was spent messing around in Quick Battle to learn the mechanics of how each one plays. Kotaro in particular was unlike anything I ever saw in a DW-style game. Never thought I’d say it, but I dunno if I can go back to Koei games after this :amazed:. Gonna explore everything I can on my own before turning to FAQs/message boards to get the most out of this game. So fucking great.
I made a pretty long post earlier in this thread describing most of what Fuuma’s skills can do if you want to check it out
Yeah, will definitely check it out once I’ve competely unlocked & played around with his full moveset. For now my main goal with him is to try getting as far as I can through a map completely airborne. Dude is a trip.
EDIT:
Playing him right now. Granted, this is just based on his 4 basic moves, but he does seem to lack a “gimmick” that makes him stand out. Pretty much just using dash cancels to keep him interesting. Looking forward to that 3rd SA though. Sounds fun.
Yea Date is a pretty basic and straightforward character. In any other game, he’d seem overly eccentric and exaggerated, but compared to Basara characters he’s almost “bland”. I don’t want to call him dry or anything, he’s definitely not and he has some cool moves. I just think people like him as a character in general and his personality is awesome and badass. I just can’t bring myself to play with him or Yuki yet seeing as I want to get into other charas ridiculousness.
Haven’t had time to play much at all. Beat Kanbe and Mitsunari’s stories and currently on Ieyasu’s. Will prob do Date and Yukimura’s next just to get the “main” characters out of the way. Then everyone else, and some people twice if they have allies I want to obtain. After this comes the REAL playing lol.
I’ve played through Magoichi and Yukimura’s stories, and I’m going to go through Fumma’s twice to get Hanzo as an ally.
I totally don’t agree with anyone saying Date is bland. with Wardance he has 2 complete movesets and taht allows for a ton of style with him. Yeah wardance mode is generally “better”, but when you’re just trying to play stylishly you shouldn’t forget his normal stuff too and use them all in conjunction. You can do alot of really flashy stuff when you have wardance on.
Yea that was bad choice of words. I’m not saying he’s “bland” per say, or that he doesn’t have flashy shit, especially in War Dance. My guy has officially “broken” this game with the roll/dash cancels and infinites for multiple characters, treating it as a fg almost lol. So I’ve seen some craziness. But Date isn’t just as appealing to me as some of the other cast to me. Personal opinion. I’m glad that alot of people enjoy him though and he is the appropriate “starter” character for these games, if you want to say that.
Random theory: If Basara 3 had VS mode like SB2Heroes(people really tried to play that and tiered the charas), I don’t think Date would be upper or mid. I could give reasons after I’ve effectively used him to my liking, but considering some of the shit other characters have, he’d get slaughtered in a 1v1. This game isn’t about that but still. In SBX he was bottom tier, but that shit was comprised almost solely on infinites lol.
I would agree to saying that Date is easy to play because everything he has is dash and special cancelable into everything else. He combos completely freely.
I think he would be one of the good ones in 1v1 because he keeps people juggled VERY easily. Considering that even with your normal combo string, the first 4 hits don’t combo into the last 4 hits so whoever can combo into their launcher and then keep it going shouldn’t be bottom I would think.
I think this game would be much more suited to 2v2’s because of the way the game is. Would add alot more strategy even with the mechanics being the way they are
Any practial setups or recommended accessories for it? Against Tadakatsu I’ve tried normal/jump-in/anti-air parries, yet he always recovers & hits me before Masamune’s blade flash. Haven’t tried to get into a button-mash duel (or whatever they call it) with him yet.
Against less aggressive enemies like the first instance of Oichi, I’m able to charge long enough for the flash, but half the time she’ll hit me out of it just as I’m about to hit with the slash (no invincibility FTL). I’ve only gotten it to hit on non-generic bosses with luck.
What’s the verdict on Kanbei…I’ve read that he’s too slow.
He’s slow but he has a ton of power, a TON of range, 360 attacks, and his final atomic buster is a boss killer, easy to use and land
IMO only BAD character is Mouri because his power is WAY too weak to justify the amount of time it takes for him to set things up properly. Everyone else is either good, great or top tier lol
I’mma have to play some Kanbei, then. I love the slow tanky characters in DW style games.
After a clash (the button-mash duel) is the safest way. Either that or activate Hero Time and go, especially once you get the accessory that ups your damage in hero time.
Mouri can destroy anything in seconds with a wall sandwhich. See here: ??BASARA3 ???(9)
Starts at around 1.15.
About Shimazu, you can’t OHKO after a parry anymore in this game…but thanks to the Sengoku Boost/Winning duels, you can still easily do it.
I’m already craving for the expansion disc here…
Yeah he has the mirror trap thing but like I already said, that takes time to setup, doesn’t do that much damage, and it doesn’t even work on bosses.
Er, yeah you can, unless they changed something in the US version of the game, I have killed tons of bosses with the OHKO after a parry. Yeah they do get up before it finishes, but Shimazu has some armor on the move so they can’t do anything to knock him out of it, and they rarely, if ever, avoid it.
