Finally got around to playing. Put in 2 hours with Date and just beat Yukimura on normal. This game is addictive and so much fun! :lovin:
EDIT: Just finished it with Date the first time but now that I unlocked Kojuro as an ally I gotta do it again ha ha! Well I’ll probably try to finish it once with everybody first. Surprised to see Tony Oliver’s name as Naoe. He’s Rick Hunter and Rand on Robotech man that’s old school.
Watched the first four episodes of the anime on Blu-Ray. It looks AMAZING man HUGE difference! THE COLORS THE COLORS!!! :wow:
Couldn’t bother to watch it in English though. I tried but when “Put your guns on!” was translated to “Let’s gun it!” I was out. It’s not dubtitled though so in the subs Date’s Engrish is intact.
About to enjoy that ish right now. The one-eyed Dragon will Roar as he Soars. Really, I don’t know of any character in that show that ISN’T a favorite of mine. Gonna get some MAD playtime outta this one!!!
Just picked up the PS3 version during my lunch hour. Now I remember why not to buy games in the middle of the day - I have to wait another 5 hours before I can actually play it
^Why am I getting an In Flames vibe about your name?
Alright, so I finished Mitsunari’s story. Took out Tadakatsu before getting to Ieyasu, which made things alot easier. But my partner, er…ally, wish he could have done something instead of standing there looking pretty…none the less, Nari’s ending is pretty fucked up…
I think I’m going to do Magoichi’s story next-still can’t imagine Mago as a girl…
Because your vibe is correct, I signed up when I was really into In Flames back in 2001, had just bought Whoracle, so I took a slight twist on Episode 666 for my username. Always good to meet a fellow metal fan!
So I played for 5 hours last night, using Masamune exclusively. Love the little things they added that give him (and other characters, I imagine) that much more depth, like dash cancelling and the special attack string after Dragon Fang. There are some things that will take some getting used to, like how weapons don’t show you when they’re maxed anymore, and the general changes to the item and accessory systems. But overall I think they’ve laid a very solid foundation for the next few games.
Motherfuckers need to start showing Yoshihiro some love. He never really gets any, and he’s supposedly the least liked character in the games. I think he’s beast. I’ve yet to play with him in this one, but still, respect your elders.
Anyone know how the U.S. sales are doing? Dare I say we probably won’t see a stateside expansion release, but that’s Capcom’s fault for not including the usual content, not promoting and pushing the game, and scrapping online play. All of this would’ve drew in more new players. I honestly don’t think they really care so long as it remains hot in Japan. A lot of people still don’t know this game exists at all. That’s pretty sad.
Shimazu is amazing in this game. He has the only OHKO move in the game, and you can land it off of a parry very easily. Even without that he has alot of cool stuff now that he can use it all at once.
Man, this game is awesome. I imported the first game when it came out way back in the day, but PlayAsia never got the damned thing to me (and they refused to give me a refund unless I could provide them with a letter from the Post Office saying that the Post Office lost the mail…you can guess how that went).
I’ve only played with Masamune, Yukimura, and Keiji so far; Keiji is awesome, but I didn’t really like Yukimura (mostly due to his dash attack being bound to d-pad+triangle).
Some stages have secret enemies that show up - you’ll get a message at a bottom of the screen saying “a fugitive is in the vicinity” or something like that. From there you have a short period of time to find and kill them. If you do, you get a permanent stat increase to attack, defense or luck. The increase applies only to the current character, so fugitives replace the mechanic of buying food in the shops from the earlier games. Also note that each character has their own set of fugitives, so you’ll have to go through stages multiple times with different people.
The Mini Help topic FlyMike linked to has all of the fugitive locations for each character. Also, if you obtain Hanzo Hattori as an ally (done through one of Kotaro’s paths) and max him out he’ll reveal any fugitive locations on the mini-map while you’re in a stage.
Masamune has one too, his third R2 skill “Zero Point” / “Testament”. Once you get the timing down it’s bye-bye everything. Nothing like taking down Hondam in one hit on Ieyasu’s cliffs stage.
i talked so much shit about him at first, lol. then i felt bad about him being level 37 while everyone else was either maxed or 8x so i picked him up (friend of mine had gotten him to 37) and decided to give him a try. fucking incredibly fun and top it off with his r2 grab? lolz.
oh btw, garasaki, when i was talking about dash canceling with mitsunari i was referring to his direction+triangle dash, then instead of letting that attack come out, use another move while the dash is still happening. canceling his r2 grab with that = fucking great. i also just realized you could direction+triangle canceled into regular attack, then follow up with another direction+triangle dash repeat/rinse/win. previously i wasn’t aware you could just keep doing that shit to move/juke but simply using it to start off my moves that kill.
he is fucking great.
not to bad mouth masamune, since he’s pretty much one of the best characters ever, especially when you consider his get hype engrish - but i just don’t find him as fun as some of the other cast members. but to be fair there isn’t a lot that can compete with the broken shit mitsunari, magoichi, nobe, and tokugawa deal in. also he isn’t as bad as floating casio keyboard man (you all know who i’m talking about), fuck that character lol.
protip for hunting the stat bonus npc with hanzo: run up, super. the only times i’ve missed the stat bonus dude were when i didn’t have meter or if the guy is on some weird ledge and i didn’t realize it until it was too late so he popped up when i walked up and then vanished before i could run to the other side of the map and catapult to where he’s at.
