For someone who tends to do best with charge characters in Street Fighter (and other games like using Clown in Karnov’s Revenge…), who would be a good character for me to learn besides (or in addition to) Hilde? If anyone has made this sort of inter-game character transition, with some success, let me know.
Maybe a character with access to delayed attacks might work better because Hilde isn’t an easy character to use. Just what kind of charge characters? Ones who can still be played offensively or are more defensive based?
I would say mostly offensive. Like more Bison/Blanka than Guile/Vega.
Edit: Before I catch flak, yes, all the above can be and will be played offensively. But Guile and Vega generally can sit back and wait a lot better, due to the invincible aa’s and such.
Is that what you meant to say?
Hey guys, I got this game recently and I’m really frustrated at trying to unlock the Apprentice. Can anyone tell me some sort of gimmick that’ll win me Arcade Mode with this worthless blob of green clay that wishes it could be Yoda?
Play someone safe (Sophie), block and throw out 236B or 236A…or 236236AA or 236236B or just throw him.
How the hell do you have 4 mains?
Against the AI?
and this is coming from a guy that likes SNK vs Capcom ?
Sooooo I take it folks still play this even after HD Remix came out and SFIV is around the corner?
This is a serious question, I might grab another copy before SFIV takes my soul.
No, no, I have to beat Arcade Mode as Yoda. Fighting against Yoda is no big deal as long as I play as a character I like, like Hilde or Kilik or something. Fuck it, I’ll just set it to Easy and breeze on through everything.
I take it Tira still blows hard in this game
I heard she’s actually kinda good.
Hopefully so, but its been awhile since I played. Put SCIV in my PS3 and that ish died at that exact moment. It seemed like she had some decent tools, but the randomness of her stances frustrated me. Put up a few decent matches w/ her, but lag and randomness got the better of me.
you can’t throw him.
I used to play Tira, but the new random element totally turned me off playing her. Can’t imagine what designer thought that one was a good idea.
I think I’m going to main Hilde. She appeals to me the most from a gameplay aesthetic and as far as looks go. I’m just weirded out that there’s a female character in Soulcalibur who isn’t portrayed as a mindless sex symbol like all the others. I swear to god, did they have to give Talim see-through pants?
Some 8wayrun peeps are discussing about the banning of Hilde. I doubt it’ll get through since it’s met with alot of opposition.
Hilde’s C3B is steppable to the left for free and has enough startup that you can stuff it out with any random AA or dfK type of move… even GI it on reaction. C3B is uninterruptable after dfdfK (her shoulder barge) hits.
It’s best reserved for whiff punishing if anything. fcC2B is a much better move for the same reward outside of range. At least that move tech crouches, has less startup and it has better tracking for both sides than C3B.
Again it takes a calculated fcC2B to land the full screen RO as the player is required to preemptively hold A beforehand.
For the full ring out combo again, it requires a calculated C3B or fc C2B to hit because Hilde needs to be holding A beforehand to get enough time for C3A to come out during the combo.
Otherwise if you launch with C3B and hold A based on reaction you’d only get C2AA.
C3A is awesome outside of the time it takes to charge it. However, it can still be GIed on reaction if used at a random basis outside of whiff punishing. Also to get the mid screen RO combo out of it the player has to be preemptively hold B before it hits again to get C2B,B.
A charge happy Hilde will get murdered by TIra’s gloomy B+K counter, as they are all mids. Tira is alright, she has good damage. Yes alot of her stuff are quite bad on block as a whole. Her strength comes from the fact that she has alot of tech jumps and tech crouches in her moveset. Some moves even have both properties.
Some well placed B+K reversals can psychologically change your opponent’s 2 choice mixups by discouraging to use less mids forcing them to use more highs or lows which Tira can slip a hit in with stuff like wsK, fK etc. Though anothe good way to go around B+K reversal is lol bait it out.
Man it felt good playing this game after about 2 months of not playing it. I thought after that long a period time of inactivity I would lose some of my skill, but it was like I never left.
