The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

Yep,

And they’re nowhere near godlike IMHO.

The plunger notches get stick on the rims half the time. That’s the reason I pulled mine from the HRAP SE I own and intend to replace those with similar-looking Sanwa buttons.

A bunch of people prefer the screw-on type as opposed to the plug-ins.

With the exception of the Pearls, the Seimitsus just don’t have near the sensitivity and plunger action that Sanwa buttons do…

Mind you, I am a fan of the LS-32-01 – I have four of these installed in stick bases, 2 HRAP SA/SE, 1 Agetec mod, 1 Mad Catz TE – and would like to try the LS-40-01 when I can afford to buy parts again.

The plunger notches get stuck on the rims? This has never happened to me and i’m pretty rough on my buttons since I play slide/piano characters. Maybe your buttons were dirty?

What i like about PS-14-Gs is how much wider the plunger and rims are compared to Sanwas and the other Seimitsu buttons. There’s less space between each button and it’s more comfortable for me to slide back and forth across the punches. The buttons are almost touching, they’re so large lol.

The perfectly flat top is quite unique, too. I also like the short engage. It’s perfect for me.

I think everyone has a stick and button that is just right for them. For me, it’s LS-56 (Octo) and PS-14-G

Is there a reason to keep the dark blue second gate on the LS-32? It doesn’t seem to serve a purpose when you are using 8-way, but is it there to reduce wear on the parts or something?

You need it for 2-Way and 4-Way.
For 8-Way is nothing.

I don’t know why the 8-Way part is designed how it is.
It hinders performance.

allright I’ll just leave it off then, thanks for the answer

This is what I mean.

I visited some arcades in Japan a few weeks back and noticed that I was able to do charge moves more accurately with the Seimitsu sticks that seemed to be installed in most of the cabinets. After seeing the difference firsthand, I plan on ordering an LS-32-01 to install in my TE stick. The only problem is that I don’t know which ball top to get. What size (30mm or 35mm) is used in most arcades over there?

35mm.

thanks

Okay. Got questions. I have an LS56 in my SE stick. it’s a custom mounting job, and I think it has 2 plates. But I have been wondering, isnt the height of stick a little low due to this?

And also I am thinking of getting a Chun-Li TE and putting my Seimitsu parts in it, while putting the TE parts in the SE. Would the LS56 will transfer to one no problems? And should it be taller than that? And also will the TE’s stick transfer to the SE plug and play?

its the correct height.

Joystick Controller - Joystick and Button Attributes and Brand Parts

the seimitsu ls-56 is 31.5mm from handle to plate compared to 32mm for the sanwa jlf. so its .5mm shorter.

you can just take the balltop from your madcatz te and use it on the ls-32.

Yeah I have an LS-56 in my SE and it definitely looks and feels short, that .5mm makes a noticeable difference!

Dustwasher Dilemma

Does anyone know if there is there any difference between the diameter of the shaft on the JLW-TM-8 and the JLF (without cover)? I checked the usual places (Kowal, Slagcoin, Sanwa catalog, HERE :wgrin:) and couldn’t find any numbers.

I’m on the cusp of ordering parts for my first custom stick and I’d really like to swap the JLW’s dustwasher with a clear one, but the only ones I’ve seen specify that they fit the JLF (with or without shaft cover), but no word on if it fits the JLW-TM. Obviously there’s not much point in getting a dustwasher if it’s loose enough to let dust in (and I* do* have plenty of dust).

And for anyone who’s curious, the stick is going into the shell of a nonfunctional Pelican Real Arcade Universal I recently acquired, and will be doing double duty for fighting games and older arcade games, so that’s why I went with the JLW instead of the JLF; I was hoping for a passable 4-way stick.

Jack of all trades, master of none, I know.

Thanks in advance (apologies, too, if this wasn’t the place for this question).

JLW-TM-8 Dust Disc is same hole as JLF Regular Dust Disc.
JLW-UM-8 Dust Disc is bigger hole than JLF Regular Dust Disc.

Ah, thank you very much, jdm714. The information is much appreciated.

Can I put seimitsu PS-15 buttons into a Hori EX-2 without modding? Is it just the joystick assembly that would force me to modify the case of the stick?

Hori EX-2 button holes are 28mm. PS-15 need 30mm holes.

If I sand out or dremmel to 30 mm, I can deal with that. However, I don’t want to have to extend the metal plate on the back of the stick to accommodate longer buttons.

Seimitsu PS-15 are shorter than standard Buttons.
And even with standard Buttons, not need to extend anything.

I have my LS-56 apart.(Goddamn E clip flinging!) I’m going to get a super stiff spring and eclip from home depot. I need to know what other shaft covers can be used? I want a colored one. Also I assume that I need a different dust washer?

Also, after looking the LS-56 is double mounted, so I infact may be losing a mm or so. Its stock mount is drilled into a SE stock mount. Does the Seimitsu MS mount to the VF? Or does the MS just replace it?

I may get another LS-56 if this is the case.
