The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

Need help.

My HRAP3 accidently fell down onto the ground, right to the balltop side, tha base of the JLF broke to pieces, but GT-Y and all OBSN-30RG’s have successfully survived the 0.5m falling. I will order the replacement base (JLF-P-2) from Akishop, and also now I want to try some Seimitsu parts. And here are some questions to our all-knowing man, jdm714:

  1. Are the high-end PS-14-GX discontinued? They aren’t on Akishop’s site, just pictures.

  2. I want to try LS-32-01 in HRAP3, how about mounting plate? What should I choose between a flat plate or SS or RE, considering a minimal work to fit it in HRAP3 which has a S-shaped plate already attached (it seems to me that it’s not stock JLF plate, it’s something made by Hori)?

  3. The octo gate for LS-32-01 is discontinued. Can I use LS-56 Octagonal Main Guide and drill some necessary holes in it for screws to fit LS-32-01? If not, is it possible to get somewhere a picture and dimensions of the original LS-32 octagonal gate?
I like GT-Y from Sanwa, and want to have something similar on LS-32-01. I’ll buy LS32-Main Guide Round in addition. And thinking about LS32-Sub Guide Round, will it be useless if I install Main Guide Round before it?

  4. Shaft cover, LS-32-01 shaft has no cover. I’ve read about ‘LS-32 + LS-40 = LS-36’ mod, but shortened throw there scares me. I’ve seen all of the Akishop movies, hand drilling the LS-40 (LS-55, LS-56) shaft cover won’t help to fit it onto the LS-32-01 shaft, or if I take a JLF shaft cover instead?
Actually, I don’t understand why is the LS-32-01 shaft is so special, is it thicker or longer comparing to other shafts (including Sanwa’s) so it stays uncovered and only the complete shaft replacement (from LS-40) can help?
At Akishop’s site the complete picture of LS-32(-01) has a chrome-mirrored uncovered shaft, but if you choose it alone by dropdown menu (#5 Shaft) it will be black, so the replacement shaft is black and not chromed?

The ls-32 shaft diameter is substantially thicker than a JLF’s or any other shaft. The shaft is also considerably short. Every Ls-32 shaft i’ve ever seen looks like brushed metal, never seen a chrome mirrored or black shaft before.

Seimitsu PS-14-GX and PS-14-GXN are discontinued.
Been so for long time now.
No sell.

Where you see pictures?

Cannot put Seimitsu LS-32(-01) into HRAP 3 without serious modification.
Either by removing the Mounting Bracket and drill directly to Control Panel.

Or modify the Seimitsu Joystick itself.

You acknowledged that the Seimitsu SS Mounting Plate will not fit, or something like that.
That is true, that Mounting Plate will not fit Mounting Bracket.

Seimitsu SS Mounting Plate and non-Universal Mounting Bracket.

Using Seimitsu RE Mounting Plate works.

Seimitsu RE Mounting Plate and non-Universal Mounting Bracket.

Installed Seimitsu LS-32-01 with RE Mounting Plate; unmodified.

But Joystick will be really short, that is why modify like in the link above.
That is why use Seimitsu LS-32-01 with the default SS Mounting Plate.
It gives the 5mm needed.

But the Seimitsu SS Mounting Plate not fit.
If use the Seimitsu RE Mounting Plate, the Shaft will be really short.

For the Seimitsu Octagonal Main Guide, you can try modifying to fit onto LS-32(-01).

Why buy the Round one to use with Octagon?
That is weird.

Check this out.
You mentioned the Sanwa GT-Y.

No Shaft Covers for Seimitsu LS-32(-01).
Only Customs and modify.

LS-32(-01) Shaft is 10mm thick.
Can install Sanwa Shaft Cover after widen.

Both GeorgeC and M K L have modified Sanwa Shaft Cover to work.

AkihabaraShop.jp does not have black LS-32(-01) Shaft.
You are seeing wrong.
I see correct.

FunkyP
Yes, it’s brushed metal, that what I meant. Just didn’t choose an appropriate description and called it chrome-mirrored.

The pictures of PS-14-GX I’ve found are in Akishop ‘hidden’ folder where most of their pics are stored, http://www.akihabarashop.jp/misc/RGGXGXYes.jpg, http://www.akihabarashop.jp/misc/RGGX1.jpg.

Sorry, maybe I’m dumb but I don’t get the point of that guide, they cut the srews and what next? Translated via google translate though…

Not to use with octagonal, separate of course. That’s just for testing a round gate. JLW has a round gate, JLF not, so I can’t test a full 360 on JLF. Want to know how it feels, even if it’s a seimitsu stick.

Maybe, look at what I’m seeing:

Also want to mention that today a guy at my work have successfully drilled a sanwa shaft for me, so I’m looking into LED button and stick activation mod. Could you point me to the posts where people inserted RS-SG microswithes into PS-14-K-N buttons to resolve the discontinuation of clear PS-14-GX? I’ve seen it somewhere here on SRK, but it’s a giant forum and I lost it’s trace.

Yes, I know about that Directory where all the good stuff are stored.
I thought you meant on the main Webstore.

It is cool if you get the Round Main Guide for separate use then.

Shaft is not black.

There were not any Clear PS-14-GX.
What are you talking?

Yo jdm, what’s the shaft diameter of the LS-56? I was going to pick up a blue dust washer from Arthong, but I don’t know if any of them will fit.

That means that I am a daltonian? On complete stick it’s brushed metal, but as a standalone replacement on picture it’s black metal.

I meant this:

Anyway, it doesn’t matter now. I’ve found your post concerning Seimitsu PS-14-KN + Sanwa RS-SG Microswitch, that’s what I was looking for.

And what about Sanwa OBS-30B, is it in production this year or it 's already been discontinued?
I’m still searching for the best combination of screw-in button with better than average microswitch and a clear plunger.
Is it possible to fit OBS-30B microswitch (OBS-M-1) into PS-14-KN?

Thanks for all your answers jdm714:cool:

Ok, you meant the Seimitsu PS-14-GXN with Clear Plunger; PS-14-GXN(???).

Sanwa OBS-30B are still available.
They in the Special Buttons part of AkihabaraShop.jp site.

You can put Sanwa RS-SG into more Buttons other than Seimitsu PS-14-KN.
Seimitsu PS-14-G
Seimitsu PS-14-GN
Seimitsu PS-14-GN(???)

Do know that when I say the Microswitches do go in and snap in place, the Actuator does not match Slot.
But Button still functions well.

RoboKrikit has picture of Sanwa RS-SG inside Seimitsu PS-14-GN(???).

No putting Sanwa OBS-M-1 into Seimitsu PS-14-KN.

stupid question what is the difference between Seimitsu LS-32 and LS-32-01

One has Microswitches on a PCB, the other does not.

If you want to make life easy for yourself, get the ‘01’ series of Seimitsu sticks. Reason being that they should come with a 5pin wire harness for easy joystick hookup. Otherwise you’ll need to daisy chain the ground on each microswitch as well as solder on signal wires (unless you use female spade connectors).

ok last question i promise is there a difference between all JLF sticks below?

according to lizardlick the Sanwa JLF-TP-8T is a best seller should i just go with that one?

JLF-TP-8S
JLF-TP-8Y-SK(VF)
JLF-TP-8Y
JLF-TP-8YT
JLF-TP-8
JLF-TP-8T

also is replacing switches on seimitsu and sanwa joysticks as easy as remplacing them on Happ joysticks or do people replace the joystick altogether?

thanks

Are the parts in the Sanwa OBS-30 interchangeable with either the RG or the regular Sanwa buttons?

Apologies if it’s been asked, but can the clear button plungers from the Seimitsu PS-14-GN be switched into the PS-14-KN? Or more specifically, can the cap that’s inside the PS-14-GN’s clear plunger be switched into the PS-14-KN’s button cover? Just thought I’d ask before I ordered anything.

Yes.

anyone have an opinion or info on the Semitsu PS-14-KN vs. the PS-14-GN. I’m using KN’s in a few of my sticks now, and don’t really like obsf-30’s but wanted to know if the GN’s feel any differently.

Thanks in advance.

I only have GN’s so I’m not sure if they actually feel different, but they use the same microswitch so the difference if any should be minimal.

I actually have both. The KN’s plunger, to me, feels a little bit harder, like they’re made out of slightly harder plastic. GN’s feel more like Sanwas, as far as the plastic used. Spring resistance feel the same with both. Unless you’re planning on putting art inside the KN’s, I would recommend going with GN’s.

TY very much, answered everything i had. GN’s going in the next stick =D

Sorry guys I’m illiterate when it comes to this kind of stuff…BUT… I don’t think my stick in the stock TE has enough tension. Can you guys reccomend a spring for me to purchase that would fit and give me a little extra tension? thanks
