The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

I like a stiffer feel to my joystick, based on the spring pictures it looks like the JLW would be the stiffest one. Anyone know if this is the case or not? The main issue I have is I like to rest my hand on the stick at neutral and occasionally get unintentional inputs on my TE because the spring feels very soft. I have an older t4 hori with a really stiff stick and this never happens on that one. If anyone that has tried out a bunch of different sticks has any advice that would be great, cause right now I am leaning towards a JLW just based on how the spring looks and the fact that I like the LS-32 better then the JLF.

Weird Question Ahoy.

So I had purchased Sanwa OBSF buttons from Lizard Lick a while back and have had a great pleasure playing with them for a few months now. My friend owns a TE which features 8 OBSF 30 buttons as everyone knows but to me these buttons feel incredibly different. It seems as if the buttons have more of a polish to them and seem more ā€œworn inā€ right off the bat resulting in a much smoother button. My questions is simply, is there a difference from the buttons sold from the various retailers compared to these stock TE buttons?

Sometimes it is batch dependent like slight variations in colour.

I have two questions. From what Iā€™ve read it seems that the LS-32 and LS-40 are similar. What are the major differences between them?

can a LS-40 go in a HRAP3?

Question about the LS-32-01:

Iā€™ve just installed it in my case, and Iā€™ve noticed that compared to the JLF the shaft moves around a bit more in the neutral area when basically no pressure is applied to the stick (you can sort of wiggle it around a bit). The JLF does this as well, but not nearly as much.

Reading slagcoin, it sounds like this has to do with the pivot for each joystick.

This is just how the LS-32-01 is supposed to be right? Is there a way to adjust this?

I havenā€™t actually played on it yet as Iā€™m still completing the wiring, so it may not end up bothering me during a game at all. Iā€™d just like to find out if I can easily reduce this neutral movement before I close up the case and finish the stick.

Iā€™ve put in a LS-56-01 in my Hrap3, and it basically does the same thing youā€™re asking. Been using it for several months now, doesnā€™t bother me.

How often do you guys change in new parts? Iā€™ve been used these buttons and sticks for about 200 hours. The parts are still responsive but they donā€™t feel the same.

Quick question - how closely does sanwa green match seimitsu green? If anyone has the two side-by-side in one picture that would be great but Iā€™m really just wondering if they are roughly the same colour on one hand, or completely horrible together on the other.

For my second controller I want to try an LS-32 but I cannot source seimitsu buttons without waiting for international delivery. I know they arenā€™t exactly the same but I donā€™t have the eye of someone who sprays cars for a living, and I can always order a sanwa ball-top to match the buttons, but that seems a bit wasteful and chances are if I order a replacement ball-top then when the package arrives I wonā€™t be able to tell the difference anyway

Question for those with Seimitsu buttons
Do you guys brush and press your buttons by accident?
Iā€™m asking this because sanwas are just very sensitive, and at the lightest of brush, it hits. I know that the Seimitsu are less sensitive, but how much?

Please give your opinion on this with the model of the button.

Thanks!

You can rest your fingers on the buttons without activating them. Itā€™s one of the selling points for those of us who prefer Seimitsu buttons over Sanwa buttons.

Thatā€™s exactly the kinda of answer I was looking for. I canā€™t rest my fingers on a sanwa at all, the weight of my fingers alone will press it.

Thanks!

Out of curiousity, is it possible to put levered microswitches on JLF to reduce deadzone? If so, which is softer, the Seimitsu ones or the ones in JLWā€™s?

You might be able to put levered switches but you would need to solder them onto the PCB I think. You can try this:

Apparently you can use heatshrink instead of electrical tape as well.

I have a HRAP2SA that comes with a Sanwa stick. Iā€™m looking for a joystick with a shorter throw that makes easier make the super combos in 2d fighting games. I tested the stick which is built-in with the NeoGeo stick 2 for PS2 and it like a bit more than HRAP2SA one. Which you recommend me?
What about the octogonal restrictor for the Sanwa stick? Does it help to make easier the super combos?
Thank you

Hi I wanted to know if a seimitsu LS32 with its flat mounting plate could fit in ?
Or maybe I can just connect the LS32 to that stock mounting plate?

You need LS-32-01 since the LS-32 does not have the 5 pin connector. Otherwise I think it should fit pretty well.

And the 01ā€™s mounting plate could fit as well?

Unless you want to modify the wires to use Wire Harness, get Seimitsu LS-32.
You can just use the stock Quick Disconnect to do.

The Sanwa JLF-P-1 was able to mount.
The default Seimitsu RE Mounting Plate will match the screw holes too.

But I donā€™t know if the size of Mounting Plate on Seimitsu LS-32 will fit the space.
Mounting Plate is slightly bigger than the JLF-P-1.

Well I think Iā€™ll buy the stick and take a picture of its inside in more detail and then Iā€™ll be able to see what can fit in there.

Hey peeps, I have a question.

Would it be possible to add Sanwa RG microswitches to Seimitsu PS-14-G pushbuttons?

I read something about this on slagcoin but wasnā€™t too sure about it.
