The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

Which Seimitsu Shaft Cover did you buy?

I ordered the Seimitsu shaft cover for LS-40, 55 and 56. I suppose I could order a standard size LS-56 shaft, but I decided to buy an LS-32-01. On a somewhat unrelated note, PS-14-G is certainly a completely different feel from OBSF-30, I see what people mean when they say Sanwa butons are more sensitive.

gen- Just curious, if the ls56 you have has a shorter thicker shaft. Whats the height of the shaft once mounted in a TE? I think youll be happy with the LS32, its my fav stick. But its ALOT different than the ls56. If you wanted to try seimitsu buttons you should have gone with ps-14-gn(my fav) or ps-14-kns. They have a good feel to them, plus they dont have that plane plunger(flat). They feel kind of awkward. But if you wanted snap ins i guess thats the way to go. So does that mean you like the sanwas better?

On a ls56 related note. I was able to install a ls-56-01 into a t5 case. It involved me using the gate as a guide to mark on the stock mounting plate where to drill. Marked the holes with marker then drilled the holes. In place of the 4 screws that hold the gate onto the ls56, i used the t5 mounting screws. They are long enough that they go completely through the ls56 and still have enough length to mount to the t5 bracket. Was a pretty easy mod. It sits at 23mm mounted like this, which happens to be my preferred mounting height. THis mod will especially be good if you happen to have a spare t5 case laying around. LS56+seimitsu buttons is the best alternative for MVC2 using japanese parts.

On a side note, i put it together with parts i had in my house. If anyone wants to trade my blue ps-14-kns(3-4hours of play total) for clear kns hit me up. Also have the white rim/ black plunger ps-14-dnā€™s for trade for other dn color too.

I didnā€™t mount the stick, it would have been way too short for any practical use. As for Seimitsu buttons vs Sanwa ones, I havenā€™t used the PS-14-G long enough to form an opinion, but I do note that I have to use more force to get them to activate, which is both good and bad; i.e. less accidental button presses but may cause things to come out ā€œslowerā€ if you will.

Quick question. I did the spring mod in my JLF and I liked the tension. I recently just purchased a LS-32 and I prefer the switches and throw in this incredible stick but it is a bit loose.

Iā€™m looking at the LS-56 as my next alternative - should I take the plunge?

Well the ls32 is stiffer in stock form than a jlf. so you cant compare the 2 stiffness since its modded. Why dont you just mod the ls32ā€™s spring?
As for the ls56, it would be better if you could find someone locally that has one to try out. The JLF and Ls32 are in the same class to me. feel similar, but have their own differences. its all about preference. But the ls56 is alot more different throw/stiffness wise. ill take a ls56/ls32 over a jlf anyday of the week.

Didnā€™t get a chance to get them yet but wanted to say thanks. I was trying a whole bunch at HD and thought I was screwed. This small thing is holding my project back.

Thanks!

@ Bold, Sorry I should have clarified. I do realize that the stock JLF is more loose than the 32, thats why I was thinking I should move up to the 56. I like the tension of my JLF mod but the switchesā€¦ I donā€™t like them at all. The LS32 feels SO much better, Iā€™m impressed. From what you say though - looks like Iā€™ll take up a LS56.

Iā€™m not involved in the fighting Community in Reno - so I dunno about anyone being here with a stick. I havenā€™t seen any mods for the LS32, but I guess since I have that home depot spring pack I could just get to work myself, lol.

I took a couple of pics of my odd LS-56-01 just so you can see what Iā€™m talking about. Hereā€™s one of the stick by itself with the mounting plate attached:

And for shaft length comparison, here it is side-by-side with a Sanwa JLF:

As you can see, it is much shorter than a normal LS-56 stick.

Does anyone have Clear Seimitsu buttons with Sanwa RG microswitches? I want to know if itā€™s worth shelling out the extra cash to buy the RG microswitches.

gen- wow, that shaft is short. You should just order a shaft for it and have a extra joystick. I guess the older ls56s have a brown pcb?

The PCB is green on the underside. At this point, Iā€™m not sure what my plans are for the LS-56 since Iā€™ve installed an LS-32-01 into my HRAP2 along with some PS-14-G buttons. I may just end up re-assembling my Virtua Stick and putting it back in, but a longer shaft would be nice regardless. Then again, I bought a standard HRAP3 at Anime Weekend on Saturday, so that one could use some additions. I have six white OBSF-30 buttons that came out of the HRAP2ā€¦decisions, decisions.

drop that jlf out of your new hrap 3 and slap in the ls56 w/new shaft and white sanwa buttons. its a no braninerā€¦ j/k

Is there any way to ensure I have proper Seimitsu buttons instead of cheap fake chinese ones?

Iā€™ve had them for about a month and they feel a bit weird, it appeared very clearly when I got to test some sanwa which were WAY more reactive and prompt to be pushed than are my seimitsu.

I mean Iā€™m aware Sanwa buttons are supposed to be more reactive than Seimitsuā€™s, but the gap here can be felt by anyone whatever they level of expertise with sticks (even my girlfriend can tell the difference). Is it normal?

If the switches have the TKC logo on the bottom theyā€™re original Seimitsu.

Damn, its there.

Guess I have no excuse to be such a bad player.

I dont know why i have been hooked on SFIV and play it like crazy. I want to maximize my playing experience. I recently bought a TE SFIV MADCATZ Arcade Stick (XBOX 360) and was wondering about mods. Is bat top better than ball top? I want to make that transition and my main question is where and what parts do i need to buy the bat top joystick to mod it? Are there button mods? if anyone can link /tell me everything I would be most thankful. Thanks in advanced!

EDIT: i know ppl are annoyed of this typical question but i have been looking around for two hours and cant find my answers. thanks for helping me anyone.:pray::pray::pray:

People are annoyed of this typical question because you havenā€™t even bothered to read this thread; the answers to your questions are all addressed in the first 3 posts.

sorry man i have been reading for two hours and i didnt read this thread throughly. i also was wondering since it was written in 2006 if it still applies to the TE

The quick answer though is that the TE already has the exact same stick and buttons found in Japanese SF4 arcade cabinets. So if you want to ā€œmaximizeā€ your experience youā€™re already as close as itā€™s going to get to the real thing. The only reason for modding would be if you prefer seimitsu/American style parts or aesthetic mods
