The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

Seimitsu LS-56(-01) comes default with VF Mounting Plate.
You need the Seimitsu MS Mounting Plate.

Seimitsu MS Mounting Plate is default on LS-33 and LS-55(-01).

So I’ll just order the LS-56-01, MS Plate, and Octo Gate from gamingnow.net. I should be good to go.

yes, thats what i did.

and the ls 56 is an awesome stick. the throw is very small, so it really helps with some characters like viper and her sj cancel stuff.

So I have settled for modding a HFS3/EX2-esque knockoff, by that I mean it appears to have the parts shaped like the Horis, but it’s rebranded and sold at like 10 bucks where I am from…

Anyway, I plan on buying OSBF’s for swapping buttons. As for the stick, I plan to buy a JLF and make a hybrid stick. I’ll replace the spring, microswitches, and gate. I have some questions before I do this:

  1. For the microswitches, I have to desolder the microswitches from the PCB and cut the solder joints to fit in the stock base right? If so, is it impossible to solder back the microswitches on the PCB should I decide later to go full Sanwa stick for a custom build?

  2. Would adding the JLF spring and gate improve the deflection? Mine has a pretty large throw and deadzone. I slant the stick and it’s still in neutral position, that’s how big the deadzone is.

Which stick feel better using a charge character JLF-TP-8Y-SK or LS-32-01?

Preference, etc. The JLF is more loose than the LS-32-01 and it has a larger throw I believe. I also think that JLFs are more common in arcade cabs if that matters to you. Personally I play boxer and I prefer the LS-32-01.

My turn to ask a question, does the LS-32-01 harness work with a JLF?

Would work, yes.

Its preference, but also keep in mind. if you dig deep into the ls32 corners the shaft will lift up alittle. Not a big deal, i have no problems using Ash on an LS32.

Demon- Yes, it will work, heres something to check out

Just realized something, possibly too late. With the TE, will I need extra screws for the mounting plate + LS-56-01? There are only 4 that come with the TE.

How can you tell authentic Sanwa parts? Sorry if this already have been stated.

I’m about to get a LS-56-01 fitted into my hrap3 very soon, but how much do I have to do for the 5-pin connector to work properly? like following the diagram, etc?

…I don’t have much experience with the 5-pin connection/wiring harness in sticks, so yeah…clueless until the stick finally comes in the mail, and its my first time swapping sticks out

I also saw tingboy’s guide http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=132472 dealing with the hrap2/ls32-01, and curious if it’s the same deal where I have to flip the 5-pin for the hrap3/ls56-01

Same.

It says: “SANWA” on them.

same as in just connect it as normal? or that thread i mentioned? otherwise, ok then, thanks…

It was in reference to your curiosity.
So that means same as TingBoy Guide.

You mentioned nothing of connecting “normally” in your Post.
So I did not answer anything ambiguous or unneccessary.

ok, i didnt quite catch that in your first post…no worries then

i was wondering before i order my sanwa buttons, anyone with a hrap3 use OBSN-30’s do they fit well?

Pretty sure OBSN-30s will fit right into the hrap3.

Does anybody know what screws the JLF uses to secure the mounting plate to the joystick?
I lost mine and tried #4-40, 1/8" and M6 screws at home depot and none fit. Maybe the threading is wrong. According to the Sanwa PDF the JLW uses 4x12 (mm I guess) screws so would the JLF be the same?

Thanks.

People use M3 screws and nuts for securing Mounting Plate to JLF Joystick.

Get some M3 (3mm) screws of .5mm Pitch at length of 8 or 10mm.
SRK Member MnShredder recommend 8mm because it seems 10mm touch the PCB.

For the nuts, get M3 (3mm) of .5mm Pitch.

Speaking of the LS-56-01, the variety that comes stock in some Virtua Stick HSS-0136 models isn’t standard. It has a MUCH shorter, thicker shaft, as I unfortunately found out when I went to mount it into one of my TE sticks and tried put the shaft cover I ordered onto it.
