The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

This is an epic thread and I’ve read through 27/29 pages.

My question: Which buttons feel most like the stock Hori buttons on an HRAP3? I like them a lot, but want to modify the stick slightly by changing the button colors and ball top without changing the “feel”.

Thanks!

Seimitsu PS-15’s feel extremely similar to stock HRAP buttons. However, they only come in green and pink.

I have remove the spring from my LS32-01 (following the jlf “ultimate mod…”), however now I can’t put back the c-ring at the bottom of the shaft.

Can anyone help me ?

Otherwise I am planning to buy regular e-ring which are far more easy to use.

A JLW-UM (or TM) won’t fit into the HRAP3 without modification. Also it won’t really feel that much more like an American stick. If you’re an American stick player, you should stick to them. Either that or give Japanese sticks some more time to get used to.

There’s a huge difference in stiffness.

I have no idea what you are talking about by “current models.” If you mean stick parts, then no. They connect with various harnesses or quick disconnects.

No, you can’t buy Sanwa/Seimitsu parts from Play-Asia. Look at akihabarashop.jp or lizardlick.com or someother vendors out there.

The Sei “e-rings” are just a long different and thicker so they’re harder to pry open. Just keep at it.

Hope this helps you guys.

How often do sanwa/seimitsu release new/different buttons/sticks? Are they generally pretty static with their product line-ups, or do they usually change things up every year or two?

Sanwa seems to make a little more frequent changes than Seimitsu but even then it’s only once every one or two years after the JAMMA show. The most recent things I can remember from Sanwa is the addition of the K/DH (black/dark hai aka grey) buttons and balltop and for Seimitsu the change in their PS-14-K to PS-14-KN clear buttons. They also dropped their GX and GXN buttons.

Per/Akihbarashop.jp are on top of the news with new parts and the like so he might chime in.

So I have to buy all the parts then put it together? They don’t make any completely put together ready to go?

I just don’t want to buy either stick without knowing exactly how the stiffness differs either.

You can buy complete sticks no problem. I thought you were talking about stick parts.

You won’t be able to find a complete stick with Seimitsu parts that is readily available. There are only a handful of retail sticks that came with Seimitsu parts and none of them are readily available now. If you want a Seimitsu stick, you’ll have to buy the Seimitsu parts separately and mod your stick with them.

There are plenty of sticks that you can buy with Sanwa parts though. The prime example being the HRAP line of sticks.

Thanks that helps.

Does the Saturn Dual Arcade Stick Pro HSS-0130 use Sanwa buttons/stick or does it use generic shit like that other Saturn controller?

I’m talking about this one:

LS-32 are the stock joysticks but the buttons are generic Sega buttons.

Does it use Quick Disconnects and do Sanwa buttons snap in?

I just got some 24mm PS-14-D-N(???/clear) buttons. Wondering if there’s a special way to pull the inserts out. The 30mm PS-14-G-N(???/clear) inserts can be pulled out without much effort. But with the 24mm, might be glued in or just extremely tight. Some clarifications? (don’t want to accidentally break it :P)

Don’t just pull them! The plunger has little tabs you can see from the side, use something thin to push them in and pop the plunger out. Same goes for the 30mm buttons.

The buttons are soldered to the PCBs. And as I said, it uses Sega generic buttons.

Thanks for the help =). Ended up using pliers to get the little inserts off the clear plungers. Were just a little tighter than the 30mm’s.

in japanese arcade cabinets for fighting games, is the sanwa jlf used more or is it the seimitisu ls32?

Quick question, does a sanwa balltop made for the JLF fit on a Seimitsu ls-32? I’ve seen that the Seimitsu ones fit on Sanwa, but does the reverse also apply?

yeah all balltops fit it doesnt matter if its sanwa or seimitsu…

what i ve noticed though on seimitsu balltops is that they have a slightly bigger flat area right where the shaft is supposed to screw on (on the simple seimitsu balltops not the clear ones)
