The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

only with the circular gate. The JLF is a better stick unless you plan on using it for non-fighting games. If you want a stick that you can use for all games (shmups, platformers, fighters), then get a Seimitsu LS-32.

I don’t currently have the means to drill holes in an LS-32 S-mounting plate so would an LS-55 with octagonal gate (to reduce throw) be a good choice (I only use my HRAP2 for fighters) or would it just be much better to pay someone to drill the holes in the S-mounting plate? Also, is there anyway to increase the stiffness of the LS-55?

octagonal does not reduce throw all is the same on seimitsu stick
drill is easy

octagonal gate on an ls56 absolutely reduses the throw. If you hold the square and octo in your hand you will see the octo is a smaller opening. Then Put it on and you will be sure it does reduce throw. There is few posts about this with pics in here somewhere. I and from all my testing with every stick made except the ls40, the ls56-01 with the octo gate is the absolute best stick for third strike.

Will the shaft cover for the ls40 fit on an ls56?

I am a wierdo!!! i Play with both Sanwa and seimitsu buttons and for some reason i play better with sanwa on all my 3d games (helps me in button buffering and ie [3~4] quick moves but in 2d games my combos find better consistancy with seimitsu buttons… ie 3rd strike clk.clp.clk xx super all of uriens setups and even kara demon. im i justa dumb ass or am i missing something here? i love both buttons but sanwa are complete fail for me in 2nd games whilst seimitsu is COMPLETE and utter fail in my 3d games i mean im over exaggerating but clearly you see my point. i need all explanations and what you play with etc

Yes it fits LS-40, LS-55 and LS-56.
It does not fit the LS-33 because it uses a very small shaft cover.

Also, I took this picture before:

4mm is the maximun panel thickness were Sanwa OSBF30 will mount? The snap ins.

throw is the same

I find that I prefer the JLW, with a square gate.

*** Noob question Warning ***

Hello,

I have recently bought a HRAP 2 SA. I read from the first post of this thread that I can replace the square gate with an octagonal one.

I understand the different between these two gates (thx for the detailed first post). But I don’t know which one is better when you input moves that involve precise diagonal inputs.

Thank you very much for your help!

kowal did you not see the pics of the 2 restrictors that akihabara posted. it is verry obvious that the octo is smaller. i dont get how you dont see that.

Square gate. Just give it some time.

Only the diagonals are smaller.

agreed. the jlw is a terd. if your going sanwa get the jlf.

What? He said that he LIKES the JLW over the JLF.

Any help?

Also one last question, do all the JLF’s come with 2 dustwasher/shaftcovers? And the one withs the JLF-CD"s come with 2 as well right? Just with a bigger hole on the outside washer?

You could use those holes, no problem.
JLW does NOT have this aquare alignment like the JLF has and you can not use the holes from a JLW-base for a JLF-base.

Here is a picture I made a long ago:

http://akihabarashop.jp/misc/sanwasquaremeasurement.gif

JLFs come with 2 dust covers, yes.
Joysticks that uses the JLF-CD comes with two as well, yes.
The dust cover on the JLF-CD has a bigger hole, yes (to be able to use the black shaft cover that comes with the JLF-CD).

The hole on the regular dust cover is 9.3mm in diameter. The JLF-CD is like this (I made this pic also):

Hope it helps a bit.

I’ve heard it’s pretty easy to change the Microswitches on Seimutsu Ps-14K buttons to Sanwa microswitches.
How would one do that? a quick tutorial would be appreciated.

Also is it true, that the Seimutsu’s will behave pretty much like Sanwa buttons after the microswitch change?
