The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

I really doubt about this: the Seimitsu microswitch is much larger than the sanwa’s. I bought PS14-KN and sanwa microswitches from akihabarashop.jp and they simply don’t match !

I’m pretty sure I’ve read it here somewhere, just can’t seem to find it anymore.

Also it’s supposed to work only with the PS-14-K buttons, NOT the -KN versions.
At least that’s how I remember it.

Yeah, they react pretty much the same (but the “Sanwa soul” is gone ^_^).

You need PS-14-K, not K-N.

Watch these (PS-14-K-N on the left and PS-14-K on the right):

And no, they are not for sale…

Thanks RealNeoGeo, so it IS possible…

I managed to grab a couple of leftover PS-14K snap ins, and I want to change the microswotches to Sanwa’s (which equals to a couple of VERY expensive buttons, but I hope it’s worth it)

Anyone mind posting a quick guide on how to change the microswitches?

Give me 1h to make a video ;)…

Wow now that’s what i call service. Now I’ll definitely know where I’ll get my parts/HRAP’s from.

Thanks a lot TRNG. Don’t have to jump through hoops for me (although I think some others will find that interesting too). Every bit of information helps.

Thank you very much in advance.

SW-68 in PS-14-K…

You, my dear friend, ARE THE MAN.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you taking your time to make a video (and a great one on top), to answer a simple question from a newly registered member.

thank you VERY much.

No worries mate, when I have time I try helping people out.

TRNG you never really checked back with me on if you found any PS14 Ks or not?

We have not found any yet.

maybe a dumb question, but is the JLF-TP the Sanwa Flash, and does it require a 5v battery or external power?

thanks in advance

No, it’s not. The Flash has been discontinued for years.

~Paik

i see. thanks.

for the JLF, no need for external power then?

No need for a powersupply for the regular JLF.

^ thank you sir.

i got that impression from your website, but i wanted to double check before i got in too deep

Per thanks for the great detailed replies, you are the BEST.
Last question, the mounting holes on the plate align up to holes in between the ones in the corners right?
EDIT: What happened to the LS-32-02’s? Or were they mistakes?

another dumb one…

whats the proper way to get at and stretch out a spring?

im on a sanwa JLF

I don’t know which stick you’re referring to for the mounting plate questions so I can’t answer that. The LS-32-02 is a revision of the LS-32-01. So when you order LS-32-01 you will see on the PCB that it says LS-32-02.

Well technically, there isn’t a “proper” way of doing it. Springs have a natural spring coefficient that allows them to stretch a certain amount before it won’t go back to it’s original position. So if you want to stretch it, then you’re going to have to go beyond that coefficient. I personally haven’t done this before and so I’m not really convinced that it does much of anything from a mathematical standpoint. I would suggest replacing the spring.

To get at the spring, remove the e-clip from the bottom of the joystick shaft and you can access the spring after removing the actuator.

thanks. i’ll just get a new one. that makes too much sense.
