The Sanwa and Seimitsu FAQ

Has anyone here used a Seimitsu LS-33? Is it similar to the LS-32?
I know that it’s smaller, thinking of putting one into a Hori Fighting Stick 3.
I’ve read that some people on this board have done that without problem.

Also, does it use a common ground?

Thanks!

LS33 is similar to the LS55

Even though it’s not actually about the parts themselves, I think it would be easier to ask in here than cluttering up the place with another “Hori ___ stick question” thread that just needs a simple answer…

I’m thinking of picking up one of the Hori Fighting Sticks for the Wii and modding with a Seimitsu LS-32-01 and some new push buttons, haven’t decided on Sanwa or Seimitsu yet. My question is does anyone know if it uses quick disconnects/5 pin connector, and if the LS-32-01 would fit without any clearance issues? And if the answer to both of these is yes, would it be safe to assume this would be a similar process to modding an HRAP2 in the same way, i.e. essentially swapping parts with no physical modification?

The answer is no to all your questions.

Kinda expected it to be no… oh well, guess I’ll pass on it then. Thanks for the quick response.

Hi, i’m attempting a T5 mod and i have a few questions

  1. i want to use a JLF-TP-8T but there 4 grounds that come off the board. Can i just bunch the ends together (now with 5 wires coming from the board) and attach those to a harness? Are there a better ways to do this?

  2. I came up with a cleaner plan and decided that i could go with a jlw tm 8 instead, since it has similar prongs to the default t5 stick. Later I noticed that there are extra prongs on it that dont look like a standard microswitch (the bent ones) http://lizardlick.com/images/for_sale/joysticks/jlw_tm_8.jpg. what are they for?

  3. Do the OBSF-30 buttons really differ from the standard T5 buttons in terms of fitting into the holes? they look like they should fit to me when i put my high grade next to the t5, but i hear that i may have to do some grinding and so forth… How should i expect them to fit? loose, too big, gotta force them??

thanks

Shifty

OBSF-30 buttons need 30mm holes. The T5 stick has 28mm holes. You have to file the holes down if you want to put Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons in. If you do not want to file, then you can put Crown brand Korean buttons in. Happ buttons may also fit.

IIRC has 30mm holes. The only problem is that there are tabs in the button holes that prevent the Hori buttons from rotating and also prevent you from putting in Sanwa/Seimitsu buttons. Filing or better yet dremelling these down fixes everything.

Ah, I forgot about those. I am thinking of the Hori Fighting Sticks almost all have 28mm holes.

Will a Sanwa JLF wiring harness fit a Seimitsu LS-32-01? The pinout looks identical, with the pin order inverted. I was thinking of trying both sticks in a new joystick I’m building. It looks like if I keep the same orientation (pins sticking out on the same side), the same harness could be used without modification by just flipping it upside-down and plugging it in.

You are correct. To plug it into a Seimitsu LS-32-01, just flip the harness over and plug it in.

Ok. Mounting plates.

  1. Does anyone have any spares they’d like to donate/sell?

  2. How does one go about installing one for a standard sanwa stick?

What kind of plate are you looking for? I might be able to help you out…

this kind: SANWA JLF-TP-8Y

Sure, that’s a JLF-P1, we’ve got those:

Scroll down near the bottom of the page, you’ll see them…

ok, thanks, will order

the question remains, however: how do I install it?

also: is there any way you could send me one through the regular mail instead of paying out $5.25 to ship it out UPS? That’s more than a little ridiculous for a small piece of metal with holes in it. You could probably wrap it in tissue and stick it in a business envelope for a few cents.

Yes, I can do it First Class in a padded mailer… shoot me an email or pm for the specifics…

the question remains, however: how do I install a mounting plate?

Step One: Remove existing screws on existing plate

Step Two: Remove existing plate (send to TMO for rehabilitation)

Step Three: Use screws to install new mounting plate

If you cant follow these :u: steps it is because your existing stick does not have a mounting plate, in which case you need to ask Lizardlick politely if he will sell you a set of screws and nuts. Then proceed to “Step Three”
