yeah I looked at this idea as well but when I talked with some people at the college who do clubs and tourneys they said that we can not give out cash as a prize so that pretty much kills it. If there is no cash as a prize then getting people to go will be next to impossible.
At Davis when we used to have Poker tournaments we were able to loophole the “no cash prizes”. Just have the main prize be a gift or some sort, like an iPod or whatever and having it come with a gift receipt. So whoever wins the tournament could just return the gift and take the money. However, this complicates the actual prize, determining how much to spend, accurately estimating number of applicants, yadda yadda yadda.

As long as there is gamers, there is a hope for a scene in sac. And there are many of us, scattered about all over sacramento waiting to game against the rest of cali. We just need one spot to unite and all meet up every month or so, but that is where our sacramento scene problem lies. So atm, casuals are held at random locations in random houses at random times.
