Why not just charge an extra $5 per person entrance fee. Only need 20 people to get up to $100. Should be able to rent a cheapie hotel suite for that. and hold it there…also, wouldn’t have to worry about the place closing down before the tourney could be completed.

There’s a place way the hell out in folsom called Gamer’s Den I randomly walked into, and they seemed at the least, friendly to the thought of fighter tournaments.
It’s a fps LAN kind of place, but apparently they had plans to set up some coin-op fighters there.
If anyone is interested I could see if they were down to host tourneys, but I wouldn’t want to put you Elk Grove guys through the pain of driving out there.
It’s right next to the Century theaters by the Outlets though, so at least it’s Light Rail friendly.
I don’t know if you could really call it an arcade, since all it has is Area 51 and Deer Hunter and shit, but yeah, no. I can assure you they won’t be up for anything, ever. Other than having crackheads hang out outside.

This sounds like an interesting idea. I just moved back to Sac from Davis and am currently taking a couple of classes at CRC. I could go the the facilities office next week and check out whats up with room rentals and stuff, and see how to go about it.
That would be kool, tell them a good portion of the money would be going to them for use of their facilities. :woot:
just a heads up, if you ever run tournies where part of the pot or there’s an entry fee to the tourney in general, make sure that is posted and all the people coming are totally aware of it. i been to tournies where that wasn’t advertised very well and a lot of top placers complained about the prize money, ya da ya da, drama etc…
I thought Tyram made it clear that there will be a venders fee. At least, a venders fee if the place we’re hosting at needs that little encouragement to see things our way. Ya feel me? :wgrin:

Heres another idea me and a friend were discussing a few months back.
If we can get 10 sac state students together, we can sign a charter and become an official club at sac state with whatever horrible name we want: Competitive Gaming Alliance or something.
Once we become an official club, we can then rent huge rooms in the sac state union at something like 100 dollars for 8 hours.
Currently I work for the student government at Sac State as their event coordinator, so I have an in with the people who coordinate the room reservations.
Just an idea.
