Their set ups on us or our set ups on them? Regardless the forum is becoming cluttered , I was thinking of making a master thread with everything that we have contributed and maybe closing off the comments section on it ( not sure if we can do that)

Shes very fast, very damaging, very long special cancellable pokes, has a million ways to get in and can make comebacks very easily.

Anyone have any general tips to make my life easier against her?

Used to think Cammy was easy, but it seems like i never actually fought a strong Cammy till recently, when she can do instant divekicks it’s really hard to deal with.

I can’t imagine the suffering it will be when they learn to DP on reaction hadukens like Xiao Hai does.

My friend does it to me consistently it just makes me feel useless because Ryus pokes are so stubby so you can’t whiff punish with normals so you need to use hadou to stop them from advancing because fuck me right? So easy for Cammy!

Then she uppercuts you straight through the fireball that you’re shooting at the proper range and its just such a heartbreaker…

Please guys if you help me I’ll try give tips?

  1. her ex divekick whiffs on crouchers

  2. v trigger shouldnt be used unless used you are gonna react to a divekick

  3. jb.lk tech for days guys she’ll maul you with pressure its too easy

  4. don’t shoot fireballs when she has v trigger… its just too easy to react v trigger into spiral arrow from even full screen into uppercut or CA.

Oh and btw I met Humanbomb and Gamerbee over the weekend when they were here in Sydney and they think Chun vs Ryu is in Ryus favour lmao.

Thoughts on birdie vs ryu?

Not believing it, even at best for me. Course bombs gona say that playing Daigo and I think Bee plays Chun against Daigo too.

I think this is even maybe slightly Ryus favour. First off, Ryu is completely outclassed button wise and is probably one of his worst mid range battles and zoning battles. Up close Birdie obviously loses here, weak to throws which means weak to shimmys. Ryu gets a punish on most of birdies pressure - horns, absorb, Chain, grabs etc

The problem with Ryu matches I find is its hard to measure battles if Ryu always has Super. Tool for tool I’d think Ryu actually loses against other characters move set on paper than maybe he gets credit for, just that he has such a massive comeback potential he’s never really out of the match, a two bar V trigger also helps give him the edge over those three bar characters.

Plus you’ve got the fact defence is quite strong in this game even without DPs.

Bomb used to play and live in Australia. He was the best player back then not surprisingly. Ironically he did start off using Ryu, then I think he switched to Sakura near AE.

No way man I cant see it… I suffer massively against every Chun I ever vsed… you are gonna get hit by her cr.mp one way or another fml.

I vsed Humanbomb and he analed me with Chun… he goes to me after the beating ā€œtrust me its Ryus favourā€ and then he vses Daigo and even he looks like he was struggling against HB.

I tried the fireball approach and again Chun has too many answers…

Out of every MU in SFV I’m like if I practice this or that the MU will get easier but against Chun I feel like I have to be 3 steps ahead and its hard against a character that can zone you out and then maul you with offence in 3.89 seconds.

Still need help guys I never felt this hopeless before fuck Chun…

You basically have to save super, that’s what makes the match even for me. Don’t waste it on EX FB.

Welp, after hitting ultra gold my record against Nash has been 0% win. I lose 100% of the time to Nash, all he does is cr mk or f hp to poke me max range, back dash fireball, back dash OP half screen kick. Can’t dash him, can’t jump him, can’t fireball, Ryu simply cannot do a single thing. Nash is what I refer to as the Mobile Dhalsim. having the 3rd best forward dash(only losing out to vtrigger juri and vtrigger necalli), unpunishable 70% screen limbs(f.HP), 50% screen limbs(cr.mk, f.hk).

Cammy has also become impossibly hard as she is free to stick out any button regardless of whether it’s poking range, counter poking range, crouching or standing opponent. She is guaranteed to get a knockdown on every touch at any range. Fireball can be punished on reaction by ex dive kicks. Her b.mp is every bit as OP as Chun Li’s s.LK as it has great hitbox, 4 frame start up and even 1 more active frame over Chun Li’s s.LK.

Cammy has been one of my easier match-ups (although I’m Silver so take this with a grain of metalic salt), and I think the main thing is you have to punish her for trying anything ā€œgimmicky.ā€ For me, this means Parry and punish any Spin Knuckles first and foremost. Then, punish any Spiral Arrows. Basically, make her play a real footsies game with you. Ryu’s options are all basic so it’s really hard to really ā€œtake anything away from himā€ whereas Cammy’s options do come with high risk or drawbacks in general, so you need to force your opponent.

I think where she gets the most mileage is when she’s either up close and is rushing you down or far away enough to do things on reaction. I honestly think the sweet spot (a very tight one unfortunately) against her is right at the tip of where she cannot react to a LP Fireball (so slightly out of sweep range to maybe a bit further out). More often than not, if you use LP Fireball up close enough, it’s either a pure guess on their part (which opens up AA and at least slows them down) or if they do react, you can usually DP on reaction. This is also where a tool like sLK can at least keep her in check as an annoying option.

Nash…yeah…

Unfortunately, Ryu just has some awful match-ups. I think in theory, parry should give you a chance against any opponent, but the risk/reward and reaction barrier to using parry effectively against someone like Nash makes it that parry can’t make up for some of Nash’s built in strengths against Ryu :frowning:

Cannot anti air if Cammy does ex dive kick over your fireball. It cuts Cammy’s jump frames by half and she gets to go down instantly before Ryu recovers from fireball. Footsies is also where Ryu starts to lose against the whole cast as his buttons are the second stubbiest in game, only beating Laura.

I have said this before and I will say it again, Ryu loses against the entire cast and only goes even against Laura. Once everyone starts playing defensive/heavy footsies against Ryu they will see how weak this character is.

Range isn’t everything, half of the cast doesn’t have much better buttons either, Ken only has st.hk over Ryu, which is easy to whiff punish, and a free punish if they don’t space, and then you have characters like Bison, which has decent range but is free on wakeup, and Ryu is really good at taking advantage on that.

Ok Cammy… I know this MU… it sucks doesnt it? Very difficult to deal with. But my friend allow me to offer you advice.

  1. Her divekicks are difficult to deal with? Ryu has 4 ways to counter divekicks… 5 if you count ex divekick.

i) As soon as Cammy says ā€œCANNON STRIKEā€ you can parry and you get a free st.mp > cr hp xx hp dp punish

ii) you can dash under and trip guard it

iii) you can dash back and trip guard it

iv) dp it on reaction

v) (ex divekick only) you can crouch and every ex divekick will whiff and you can trip guard

  1. its very hard but you can whiff punish her st mk with sweep… but eh… its hard because her st.mk is so good

  2. Ive refrained from using VT unless its gonna get me the kill and I’ll tell you why… most of her attacks are plus… her VT divekick is plus and you need to get her off you… v reversal is probably more beneficial.

  3. good counterpoking normals are st.lk… its safe, its fast and if cancelled into ex hadou ite safe… it interrupts her normals

  4. don’t let her get away with full screen V-skill. Parry that shit and cr.hp xx hp.dp is your punish.

  5. when she gets VT don’t shoot even a single fireball… gauranteed activation from full screen into huge damage(fair that she can do this right? -.-)

  6. she has a dp and a 3f normal… I usually just back off and dont bother pressuring her because she has too much momentum if she hits you with either of those.

This is all I have now enjoy the tips… I feel they work for me but man its hard…

I didn’t know that you could avoid ex cannon strike by crouching, gonna try to do that next
