That’s interesting they decided to split the arc into two movies. Makes sense though since Kyoto arc was longer and had a lot of good stuff you can’t just leave out.
It is showing around asia, which includes the Philippines, Taiwan, etc. The movie is that good and you can read the high reviews of it. Japan is doing a good job with the making their live action adaptation. I hope they show it in the USA, and i have no idea why they don’t.
Hiko is in the trailer for the second half. From what I know, the second half will be released around next month in Japan so it’s likely the same for Asia.
It still hasn’t shown in the West? I just got back from watching the 2nd part (The legend ends) and you can’t believe the insane amount of awesome the whole movie was. Due to this, Rurouni Kenshin wins as the best comic/cartoon adaptaion ever. The last battle with Aoishi, Kenshin, Saito, and Sano vs Shishio was by far the best fight scene i’ve ever seen.
They didn’t just stand by and take turns like in the tv show, they actually ganged up on shishio all together and shishio was hurling out flames from his sword as he was taking all 4 of them on.
I feel so sorry for those in the USA who can’t watch this. Even the critics to people who never watched the anime gave it a 9.5/10.
The trilogy is really huge here in asia. I hope warner bros brings it to the west. The sword fight really deserves praise and a must see in the theaters.
Will be seeing this on saturday!
Been hearing good things & bad things (mostly about the changes to the story vs. anime/manga) about both sequels. I think I might catch the movies at NYAFF if they are showing them around that time next year.
I have not heard any negatives, and if there were it has to be from nerds who want movies to match the original comic/show 100%. I’ve been reading reviews of the latest, and i have not seen anything lower than an 8/10. I saw the first half, and it was really good I can only imagine how the second half is and i know it’s better due to the final fight.
I hope you guys get the chance to watch it. If you thought Guardians of the Galaxy, Dark Knight, Avengers, etc were great adaptations Rurouni Kenshin has the potential to blow them out of the water. It’s that great. It did not just win over anime fans but people who never even heard of the anime. The whole story telling and acting was well done and again the fight between all 4 vs Shishio was just levels of awesome. People were hyped during the anime time but in this movie all 4 fight him at the same time. He would hurl fire at every attempt each men tried to strike him, and his fight with Sano and Aoishi were just insane in choreograph.
