The Rumblefish 2 thread that CF built

This tier discussion deviates from the real problem with ppl. I always thought the point of playing a fighting game and the whole purpose of having multiple characters was to find one suitable to your liking. Personally, I like Orville, Bazoo, Boyd, and Lud. Even if I lose to mito or greed or whatever I am not easily discouraged because I know sometimes it not what they do it’s what I don’t do. but that’s really a glass half full perspective. Bottom Line everybody should play with the characters they like and not resort to “tiers” when they can’t win. I mean you get beat playing with garnet or zen and then all of a sudden its hazama, greed, or mito? give me a break. I think it’s more to your merit when u win with a character that you have studied extensively and been through the thick and thin with em. I may not win every match with orville but that is not gonna make me stop playing with him. Please don’t let this game become like mvc2 where there are 40+ characters and only 6 of them are used. or tekken where it’s the nina, steve, and brian show. have faith in your abilities and learn to cultivate this game has stuff to counteract everything we just haven’t mastered some of the techniques yet. i mean the game has only been there for 3weeks ppl not 2months! give it some time

Bro, Tiers are the fucking truth. You can get incredibly skilled with Orville, but against any competant player using a character in a class above him will make you work. Some people don’t like work, some do. Some people can overcome these weaknesses, some can’t. Some fights are so stupidly in the better character’s favor that the person playing would have to be a fucking idiot in order to lose.

Just so you know, RF2 has been out for months now, just not in the states.

Now, for the tiers. From bottom to top, because I’m an ass.

D Class (aka shit tier)
Hikari, Typhon(anyone who played part 1 knows that he deserved every bit of raping that they did to him)

C Class (aka Low Mid)
Sheryl, Lud, Orville, Boyd, Aran

B Class (aka High Mid)
Bazoo, Garnet, Kaya, Greed(maybe you’ll stop losing to him now)

A Class (aka Top Tier)
Zen, Viren, Beatrice

S Class (aka God Tier)
Mito, Hazama

All I ask is that you explain what tools put these people into their tiers. I only played part 1 so I get that Typhon refe btw.

I see your location is listed as Okinawa. Is that list from Arcadia Magazine then? The Japanese featured in that magazine are pretty good at fighting games and have the best track record in my opinion. Anything else posted here on SRK I usually always dismiss as nerd talk so that’s why I ask. List from random Japanese guy you talked to at the arcade doesn’t count either, because he might not be good. A general consensus from multiple recognized top players is what I’m looking for. All the other noise belongs on gamefaqs or something.

I second ag and kcxj. What could have possibly led to the rape of Typhon and a top tier Viren?

Wow. While the extreme ends of the list are pretty much the same as everyone else has said, the middle is ASS BACKWARDS. Aran in low - Mid? Zen a step below God Tier? Nevermind that, motherfucking VIREN a step below God - Tier?!?! Crazy. Like the guy above me said, Saotome, can you provide a source for this list? 'Cause if it’s Arcadia or another reputable Japanese mag, oh boy, we’ve been had.

Another thing Saotome - have the Japanese found a way around the corner jab infinite described earlier in the thread (or was it the thread in the ‘Other Games’ forum? Can’t remember offhand)? Or is it a primary part of everyone’s tactics?

Side Note - it’s interesting to note how the people in the Ko-Hatsu vids play - are those from tournaments I assume?

the list deff has something wrong with it, no way aran is that low.

whatever the case this game is stupid, and everyone should stop playing it.

Saotome:

I’m a little curious. Whats the list based on?
Character ability?
Who’s better with dealing with the other characters overall?

Does the magazine say why the characters are in the list like that?

I believe this tier list is probably based on how good the characters are.

I love you Clayton.

Shrug, I agree with the above.

I’d still rather have AC. This game stopped getting my quarters already, now I go straight to the 3s machine.

You love Clayton too?

last time someone posted a tier list from rf’s website, was for RF1, which they read the japanese wrong it wasnt a tier list but a list of how hard it is to win/use a character/learning curve.

And yes, these are tiers.

As for c.LP rushdown? I have no honest answer. Most of the peeps I’ve seen play use characters with pretty crappy c.LPs, or choose not to cop out and do that BS. Occasionally I see some guys Low Dodge attack that shit, or reversal out. Don’t forget about backdashing…

Haha, sorry for being blind man, thanks though.

Yeah, I was a bit confused about c.LP, as all the Ko-Hatsu vids and other match vids I’ve seen (romancancel.com as well) didn’t show it off. I was like, “are they just not doing it on purpose, or have they found a way around it”? Then again most of the Ko-Hatsu stuff is either the Aran Rushdown Show or Bazoo Falling Rock Hour. Then again they did have a couple of neat Lud matches a couple of weeks ago…chain -> tackle -> chain -> tackle is harsh!

fyi, i was aware of it being out for months in japan i was saying that ctf has only had it for a few weeks. i am just saying for instance, in cvs2 we know that sakura, vega, sagat, blanka are considered like top tier but when u watch japanese tourneys, you don’t see these characters being spammed because ppl play with who they wanna play with like dan, maki, dude from rival schools cant remember his name at the moment. i understand the point of it being easier to win with certain characters, but my point is that everybody should just try to learn with who they like and not worry so much about tiers. if you do then u will never step out side of the box and just play with the bosses and mito. Cya, Around! keep this thread bumped :o)

FYI, I know that people will use who they like, and I just posted the tier list because people were saying certain characters were good when they’re really not(I love Orville to death, but that nigga ain’t holding his weight in this game against anyone who knows how to play). This is done so that when you hear about people being good with so-and-so but getting regularly raped by so-and-so, you can tell the difference between the player just sucking, or the game making it harder for him to win. Some people will look at the tiers, and figure out how to take out their bad matchups a little easier. Some people will look at the tiers and see who the “best” is and whore them out. Tiers are a tool, remember that.

duly noted friend. :o)

oh yeah also after reviewing ur latest post another thing is american players don’t then to follow the i play with who like because once they see who is top tier they start playing with that character. Tekken 5 is a prime example I know alot of ppl who started out playing a variety of characters, but when push came to shove they gave up and diverted to nina and steve. They say I like such and such but I wanna win. That maybe true but as we see ppl playing with so-called low-tier characters, we are seeing them turn them into big threats just look at Slips(Nationally renown player in tekken 5 with eddy) or scary mashed potatoes who at ecc came in 4th with roger jr. characters who in tier list are not considered that high. But to not cause further confusion i understand that ppl like to see matchup info and compare character usabilty. But I just read a lot of post in this thread about ppl giving up on this game already because of certain top-tier characters. And I just felt that I should respond to this. keep the post coming a very interesting thread indeed and i respect your place saotome

The prob with US gamers sometimes is that once they find the winning char/tactic, they rinse repeat that shit until someone/thing comes along(dark horse character/player) that fucks up their narrow mindset. That’s part of the reason why the other regions beat the US in most games, they don’t try to make their shit work, they go for instant gratification.

Good example, seeing peeps on TZ play Baek, Kaz, and then Bryan for tournies.
