Rufus is dope in SFxT, he can hit “HUGO” in the head witha divekick and still combo him (of course this also means we will get to combo our worst nightmare, Sagat, after any divekick)
Other things I noticed:
Far st.HP used to be a situational anti air since it was kinda slow, now it seems faster and more reliable.
Big bang typhoon is not as good as it was in Super, you gotta be really close to hit them out of their fireball, its a good AA though.
Even with height restriction, divekick is still nuts
As most of you said, j.MK is a very reliable crossup.
One of his weaknesses in Sf4 (lack of good hit confirms) is gone
Comboing into EX snake strike from the ground feels boss as fuck.
Ex messiah tag cancel is cheap, use/Abuse it, safe on block free ground combo on hit, basically a free GTFO
Getting cornered by Rufus is 10x more dangerous because his combos are crazier there.
Yeah, I still love st.HP. I’ve noticed that some characters can now air-to-air into reliable strong ground combos. I wonder what Rufus’ best would be besides j.RH, cr.mp, or w/e.
Costs 2 meters to GTFO with Rufus. That ain’t free! You’re referring to his EX Messiah into overhead follow up? Or a tag during his EX Messiah?
So what would be Rufus’ best combos from mid-range and let’s say whiff punishing. Rufus doesn’t have a lot of good buttons for footsies but I feel like there are going to be many times when we divekick, the person reversal’s out the way, and we’re left deciding how to maximum punish short to mid range.
The best punishes I can think of would be:
[far.st.lk, st.mk, st.fp] xx (for closer ranges)
[cr.jab/lk, st.mp, st.fp] xx (for punishing moves on crouch block)
cr.FP xx launcher (was told this is legit? costs a meter but damn that’s pretty tight if u can launch from a cr.FP punish)
GT pushes them to the corner where’s able to deal a lot more damage though. I also like how you can cancel f.HP to HK messiah and it actually combos in the corner.
Man Rufus is so much fun to use in this game. I was having trouble at the start though mainly because when i would do Gts i would keep pressing downing the LP,MP,HP button and he would charge it or whatever (Guess it as a weird habit I had in SF4). I’m still really confused about these launcher/tag in combos but it is only day 1 of the game.
Hopefully someone can make a Rufus combo thread. (I would but I know I wouldn’t update it that often).
I think launchers are team specific, as I can’t get a single thing worth doing when launched by ABCL from Juri, however her stand alone launcher works fine into a target combo. Weird.
The strongest midscreen combo from tag I could get was st.FP to EX Snakestrikes.
The strongest corner combo from tag I could get was TC, Fragrance xx EX Snakestrikes.
Turn both to just HP Snakestrikes if you don’t want to use meter.
