The Return of the Thigh: Chun-Li SSF4 Thread

maybe, if you have time, check and see which moves other than exlegs were nerfed in the damage department?

Check frame advantage on her jab and close range fireball and if her far mk and hk have changed noticeably.

Will ex SBK into ultra 2 be possible?

Yes. Someone here actually used it to win a match against El Fuerte in a video.

If you could just check the full numeric damage on her U1 to see if it’s less than it was in SF4, I’d be appreciative.

Unless someone posted it up already, I haven’t seen if that changed or not.

P.S. Look for secret moves! Like ‘Angry Thigh’ or something.

xD got a link?

Chun is looking real good.

The video has been removed, but it was me playing.
What happened was that I did cl.hk x mk hazanshu, the fuerte got reset in the air by cl.hk and did u2 to punish the hazanshu.
I had 0pixels left on my health bar, fuerte was towards the corner and I was knocked down.
I did ex sbk on twitch when he did a meaty st+hk (dropkick overhead), which connected, into u2 which killed him, it was hype!

Yeah that vid as awesome. Great ending. Loved it to bits

How about her Hit Box Shenanigains…

cr.mk into Hassenshu on Balrogs wake up to stuff Buffalo Headbutts, well I use this at least.
cr.mk to go under Tiger Knees.
cr.mk to go under Bisons Devil reverse.
cr.mk o go under cammy’s hoolagin throws, mainly the EX versions.
cr.mp on most types of jump ins that don’t angle down, the kick or punch will miss completly but most likley the mp. will hit them on the way down.
cr.mp on Ryu’s wake up to stuff Super and dodge the super fireball.

The other thing is this supposed nerf of Akuma’s Demon Flip, AZ translated on the recent blog but it wasn’t very clear even to him. They said “Demon Flip Throw” but also said “on block” which means they must be talking about the dive kick or HP follow ups. Im assuming the frame advantage is less which means she should be able to punish them on block easier. I don’t know how you can test this but since AKuma is such a bad match up for Chun it would be cool to play around with his move to see what you can and can’t do now.

Thanks Skatan.

is sweep still as good as an anti air or did her hitbox get changed?

-air stompsx3 to HK
-about st.mp: they may have reduced its recovery, see if it’still punishable with a long range focus

do we know if hosenka is better yet

wow i was able to play ssf4 for a couple of minutes today and this is my impression of chun:

  • you can do kikosho after df lk! you have to do df lk while your opponent is still in the air though but you can combo after it with kikosho in the corner (opponent will fly in the air if you hit him with the flip kick lol). if you do df. lk on a standing opponent the opponent wont fall down.

  • st hk feels the same (yay!)

  • st. lp x st. hp link seems easier to do

-st. mp feels more of the same to me. cant really say it was different from vanilla.

I got a chance to play quite a bit and is it me or does backdash seem worse in general?

Roundhouse changed! (I think.)

Hey everyone, I played SSF4 for a few hours tonight, and I must say Chun is feeling very good. She was good in SF4, but the addition of the kikosho is very nice.

However, I found one thing that I think will be HUGE for chun li, which I haven’t seen reported about anywhere thus far. Sorry if this has been reported before…

Tonight, a Ken jumped in on me from close range (Like most Kens enjoy doing) and when I hit roundhouse…I got the KNEE! The close standing roundhouse came out when Ken was in the air near me, exactly like dhalsim’s back standing roundhouse…and it anti-aired just as well as dhalsim’s.

I played Chun quite a bit in SF4, and maybe I just never tried Cl.St.RH as an anti air before, but I’m pretty sure it didn’t work like this.

Anyone else tried this? I’ll test it next time I play the game.

Close roundhouse was a good anti air, fierce was just more suited for that situation.

I’ve also had alot of success using close standing RH as anti air hurricane cross ups.

cl.rh was one of her better anti-airs if you ended up with them on top of you.

standing fierce has improved greatly as an anti air works much better now, backdash has been nerfed its still good just not as good. kikosho is ridiculous way too many setups to land it. i think her cr mk is actually better now has slightly more range dont hold me to it though.
