Fixing the ability to combo with ultra 1 means there’ll be no incentive for anyone to pick ultra 2. Ultra 1 has its own application and it does it well, if you want something that combos well, pick ultra 2.
a ultra that combos well is quite a big incentive as now landing a cr short anyware can lead to you landing a ultra which isnt posible with hosenka
Ultra 2 has AA ability, and doesn’t require a charge. That’s all the incentive most chunners need.
after hearing what peapo or chunbelievable said… i dont think that chuns kikosho has ANY AA uses… based on the vids that we’ve all seen, plus kikosho getting beateb out by a late hitting ex snake strike… i believe that chuns kikosho probably has its hitbox low to the ground and not very far out…
like a beam super from mvc2… only it takes the bottom 1/3 of the screen and has only about the range of her st.mp… i could be totallu wrong… but seeing justin land the ultra versus that honda, the honda was practically on the ground before getting hit by kikosho even though justin timed the kikosho as early as humanly possible… thats what makes me think that kikosho hits low to the ground… it could just be slow startup though… but peapos ultra juggle wasnt timed as early as justins and they BOTH juggled at the same height… that plus the fact that snake strike beat out kikosho is what makes me come to these conclusion based on the current build.
-edit… also, if i’m corect in this thinking… then kikosho may do more damage than what we’ve seen, cause it may have missed some hits due to starting up faster…
havent seen the fullultra hit an opponent on the ground yet to compare it startup time to its juggle time… so no way of knowing for sure.

Hosenka only juggles in the corner, Kikoushou juggles everywhere.
This is exactly how I feel! She SO needed this. She’s the Matriarch of SF. It makes no sense that she should have a bad matchup with Viper or RUFUS of all people. Kikosho will help even that up a bit.
And about Juri being Chun’s rival…I think that is just so perfectly appropriate. They are like yin to yang imho.

People made there points about many issues with Chun. Id like to throw in the question why Seth gets Chun Li’s old head Stomp Command and She don’t, WTF? df + mk should be p ossible with chun li for head stomp. I hate wiffing the head stomp when I got my opponent corner trapped and I end up falling into his clutches.
The Kikosho Ultra will be a heaven sent for Chun. She does’nt seem to have any new moves so it would help great againts jump in happy characters like Ken and Ryu.
I hope they reduced the recovery of st.HK now that they increased the startup(which I think probably was a right decision) or it will be completely useless.
Kikoushou has easier combo connectivity, that’s it, there doesn’t seem to be any other additional usage outside of that or any other applications - its still too early to make that call but just basing it on what we’ve seen so far, maybe as an AA but they’d have to be high for it to work from what it looks like, it just doesn’t seem it can be really used to counter punish or anything else that ultra 1 offers. Her first ultra although only combos in corner and not consistently, there are other applications as already mentioned - for punishing, countering full screen fireballs etc. Making it easier to combo with ultra 1 will give even lesser incentive to pick ultra 2 beside the easier input.

People don’t even know how fast Kikouksou is, if it is as fast as it usualy has been then it’ll be good for punishing moves on block as well.
And why would Kikoushou have to be used as AA, to get some easy-mode damage?
She can already based on what we know mix it up between j.hp~hp, kikoushou and c.mk x ex legs, kikoushou as anti-air.
If c.mk has longer range then that can be used to punish a lot of stuff on block and cancel into ex legs, kikoushou etc.
The comboability of the ultra has a big impact on many of her matchups where the ultra now doesn’t get used often at all.
vs. Akuma, C.Viper, Guile, Fuerte etc. etc. there are plenty of characters where she doesn’t get to use her ultra almost at all if they play their character correctly and you’re not taking stupid guesses.
In these matchups the Kikoushou will be great because all of those characters are also low health characters.
Her Hosenka will still be great in the matchups it’s already great in unless they change the properties on it, giving it consistent comboability in the corner wouldn’t make it the one ultra to use at all time.
You have to look at the matchup, can you get them consistently into the corner for example?
Or maybe you can’t keep charge easily enough for it to be viable?
These are things that you might not have thought of because why should you you don’t have a choice in using the Hosenka, but now there will be a choice that forces you to think this way.

Did they it mean that they stay in the air much longer giving you more time to reposition yourself?..if that’s the case then it’s awesome, I think that one of the (many) bad things about this move right now is that it sends many opponents where you DON’T want them to be, like Ryu or Sagat.
I’m not giving up on Hosenka, it looks too good. It’d be nice if it juggled ALL character’s in the corner though. Strangely I find the fatter character’s fall through more often than the lightweights…very disapointing when they are free to punish becuase I dared to attempt linking my classy Ultra…
I was kinda curious…is spelled Kikosho or Kikoushou? I always spelled it Kikoushou but a bunch of forum monkeys on Gfaqs ambushed me and said it was spelled Kikosho. Kikoushou looks proper IMO, but online it seems spelled both ways. I realize the question is shrugworthy… but I’m just curious!
it’s safe on block now apparently. That’s what that means. BUT, it spins slower and apparently has less invincibility.
And Locusta, Both are correct. kikoushou is actually a more correct romanization of the word. the ? has an ou sound.

Comboable Ultra? Nice Addition. Much better than the Counter ultras of Fei and Cammy.
I just can’t see why they’d give EX SBK less invincibility. It needs EX stock…and uhm…it already fails vs shoto jump ins. Kinda thought it would GAIN invincibility tbh. Safe on block? hmm. That’s no thang
I hope that story about cr.lp being nerfed isn’t true. I’ve seen that “official” american community change request list sent to capcom. If I remember correctly it was written by edma and his friends.
In that list, among insane buffs to ken, they asked to nerf chun cr.lp “because she was able to get out of pressure too easily”.
Come on, this is the character who cant anti air at will, who doesnt have a teleport to go to the other side of the screen when pressured (edma play gouki it isn’t?) Who cant dp fadc to get out of pressure. Who just have 1 more frame than ryu or gouki in her cr.jab blockstun or hitstun and they dare ask to nerf her? Wtf? Nobody should ever have something even just a bit better than theirs precious top tiers shotos?
Good chun dont even use cr.lp to get out of pressure, it’s good for tick throw or to link into st.hp… and they didnt say a thing about boxer cr.jab which is ten times better… How can they pretend to be top players and be so clueless… It really pisses me off.
Pro players have good ideas and bad ideas. They have character biases, whine about shit they don’t like and make excuses like anyone else. Notions otherwise are a myth.
You are right. Like everyone they are free to whine when they want. But dont go writing a list and send it to capcom, saying it represents all the community wishes and using your name to weigh on it, when it’s just full of your whines.
That may be true, but kultissim’s bias against shotos shows more here than anything. Insane buffs to Ken? Damn, the character is barely mediocre, he needs to be improved in some ways and, from what I remember, what Edma wants isn’t exactly overpowering.
Besides, aren’t they improving Chun’s cr.forward? That’s a pretty big deal I think. Yeah, they might make her jabs not as good, but the trade off for an improved, low hitting poke is much better. Anyway, like he said, her cr.jab being that good isn’t really necessary to be competent with her. As to why he feels the need to complain about the nerf, I don’t know, maybe he’s the kind to mash jabs to escape pressure rather than backdash or whatever other options she has.
