It’s a quote from the epic poem Paradise Lost by John Milton. It’s about the Devil as a fallen angel. Paradise Lost is about when God’s head angel, Lucifer, gathered all the angels and went up against God to rule heaven. This is suppose to happen before the book of Genesis before God created Adam and Eve. After Lucifer and the angels went up against God, God casted all of them from Heaven and send them straight to hell. In hell Lucifer and the fallen angels that followed him contemplated their fate and their exile from heaven. After falling from heaven and landing in hell, they transformed from beautiful angels to hideous devils. As they stay in Hell word gets to Lucifer and the exiled angels that God had a new creation and that creation was Adam and Eve aka humans. Lucifer is curious about these new creatures because he hears that they are the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen. Angels were suppose to be God’s most beautiful creatures and this makes Lucifer jealous. So he comes up with a plan to destroy these beautiful creatures. So he goes into the Garden of Eden as a serpent. When Lucifer first sees Eve, he is struck by how beautiful she is. When Lucifer first sees Eve, he realizes “how aweful goodness is”. Because according to God, Lucifer represents evil while Eve represents good aka goodness. Lucifer deeply regrets being on God’s bad side. He envies what Adam and Eve are which is beautiful because they are made out of goodness and not evil and ugly like him.
Basically Paradise Lost is from the Devil’s perspective and how he lost heaven. It’s a story about how he went from God’s first angel in heaven to God’s worst enemy in hell lol.
Money matches at Don’s!?

But next week’s qualifiers, then the week after…!!! HYP!
After giving it much thought you guys are right. Everyone should pay even if you’re on an elite level and even if you’re a lady.
At first I was thinking about the competition of my place. Encouraging top players to go in for free so that they could help the not so elite players over here. I was thinking that it would be kind of like a club how they pay famous people to party at that club. But I realize it doesn’t work the same way lol. Obviously. The math isn’t fair. I think the competition will just take care of itself. I don’t have to worry about giving special treatment to elite players. It’s all about fairness.
The top players that I mentioned for the VIP list will probably most likely be on the stations most of the time beating everyone. So they are the ones who are playing the most. And if they got in for free then I can see how it could be really unfair. That would mean that the players who got in for free would be playing the most while people who paid would be waiting for their turn more often. Ya I could see the corruption there. So now everybody has to pay. Even women. I wanted to be nice to women but I want to be equal and fair first. Women will get a free drink but if I run out of drinks for people to buy then that means there’s a lot of women at my place that night lol (Highly unlikely).
I know money changes everything. I know the culture of my place will change because of it. But I can’t be giving away the kitchen sink all the time anymore. It’s not fair for me. And a lot of people are contacting me that I open up shop again. Don’t get me wrong I like doing this and providing a service to the great So Cal Community, but prepping everything, staying open and keeping order for 9 to 10 hours, and then cleaning up my garage every Friday after can be a task. I think charging $5 per person so that they can get unlimited free SSF4 and 3S games on arcade cabinets is reasonable. Not to mention Super Turbo, CVS2, Puzzle Fighter, Alpha 2, and Vampire Savior.
So my underground arcade is here for everyone in the So Cal community to enjoy but this time around I hope all of you can meet me half way with the entry fee. I know it’s not a perfect system but it’s a fair system. And also for this to work I have to trust you guys too. A little free legal advice: Every night I put myself at risk of being guilty of negligence. I’m in a very vulnerable position when I do this. When one guy had a seizure at my place it freaked me out because I saw all the legal possibilities there. So if I do get upset, I would never do anything at my place because I wouldn’t want to be at fault of anything. If I do get upset and not like what’s going on, I’d probably tell everyone online. It’s the safest way for me lol. But I should be a happier person now so I should be fine.
But at the same time you got to risk things to make things happen. I do this to help the community. All of you know that when I’m there I don’t even play that much. So hopefully when we start again, I expect everyone to be self governed and cooperative. And I hope every will respect my place. Since this should be a community effort I expect everyone to call out people who cheat the system. If all of you paid and you see one guy ripping off games, just remember he’s taking your spot and he didn’t pay. So now arcade rules must be in effect all the time now. Every time a match is over, the losers must be more then willing to give up their spot. No exceptions.
So as of now all must pay the entry fee. On the bright side, since money is involved people will play more seriously and more serious players will play on the set ups. I have no control over the scrub element but I hope there will be less scrubby games at my place. I like it to be a fun place but I also like it to be a place where the level of competition is high. I know it’s asking a lot but I’m trying.
I have a suggestion. We should try to stream the money match station so the whole world could witness the money matches lol.
I hope this arcade will be successful again but I know that when you change things it can be different. So I hope everyone returns and makes this the happy place it once was.
Can I trade you my Ryu for your Viper? I was super impressed the way you put Gamerbee in losers on WNF. You could’ve beat him in the finals but you looked nervous. It’s ok I would be too if I played Gamerbee. Your my idol Sam. Viper is the coolest character. She can win but more importantly win with style.

Dude everyone knew you had to start charging at some point. Not even to profit, but to fucking help with what had to be a ridiculous electricity bill. Not to mention to mess you had to clean up every night. I was at shgl’s in the beginning. I knew what he had to deal with every wednesday night. That’s why I donated a shitload of chairs and tables.

Oh ya while I was gone I read that the online 3S is gonna be like the first arcade version of 3S. That’s great news because that is the same version as the ones I have. So the near future for SSF4 and 3S is looking bright.
Oh ya I just want to say Happy Birthday to SuperPham. His bday was actually yesterday. I remember he did a show on cartoon network. Did it air already? So SuperPham if it didn’t air yet post it up on this thread when it will. Maybe some of the guys here wanna see it too. I know I do.
Tim’s an intelligent guy who will give you a good conversation. My interview we had where we met at a Starbucks was very enlightening. Make the effort to speak with him. He’s definately worth the time.
So this is how I plan to regulate the new $5 entry system. The $5 is for everyone pitching in for electricity for the venue each Friday night from 7pm-4am.
It’s actually simple really. I have a clip board with a piece of notebook paper and everyone who enters first comes to me and gives me $5 and I write your name down. And you don’t have to give me your whole name. You can if you want but I’ll probably like to write down your srk avatar and your first name. Something like “Kainzero Joe” or “SuperPham John” because we tend to have a lot of John’s, Mike’s and Joe’s. So there will be no wristbands or stamps to regulate this. I still want it to be free flowing and comfortable like it once was. I still want people to go outside to get some air, talk, or go for a smoke break. I also want people to be free and go get food and come back. So please make this as easy on me as possible and please pay the fee before you play one game. I don’t want to be a cop or vigilante about this. If it’ll be crowded, it might be tricky so don’t make me into a profiler about trying to find out who the guys are sneaking in trying to get free games. It’s extremely hard to find out in the crowd who’s free loading. And I don’t want any conflict to mess up the evening. So everyone who first walks in must greet me now. So in order for this to work I need you all to cooperate so that it can still be a fun atmosphere and you all can be self governed. So I expect everyone to be honorable and if anyone of you sense someone is not paying. You rat them out to me. But I am totally optimistic that everyone is cool and will pay. And we all know each other so the system should work fine.
As for money matches:
For SSF4 money matches: they will only be on one set up and that’s the ASUS monitor set up so that the other 3 are free for casuals. I was thinking of having them all lined up so that we can be organized. First to five. And I was also thinking a $5 minimum bet? Or is that too much? If it’s too much I’ll go no lower then $3. Maybe there should be a third party involved to supervise the match just in case there is a dispute? So everyone can have money matches. Pro vs pro, novice vs novice, and scrub vs scrub. But everyone tell me so I could make a list of people having money matches that night.
3rd strike money matches will be done on any of the two, hopefully three once I get the panel fixed, 3rd strike machines. I don’t know how popular 3S matches will be since only there are a few really good players at my place. And since all the 3rd strike people know each other, you’ll probably be self governed. It will be a first to five also. That will be the general rule for every money match game at my place. First to Five.
Yes I’m getting ahead of myself because I don’t even know if the same amount of people will show up now since I’m charging. I still like everyone to come over but like I said money changes everything. Having said that it’s more fun for me when there are a lot of people who come over with or without money.
So it’s up to you guys if you still want to make this the fun spot it once was when I use to not charge. I hope I get the same results:)
I’ll tell everybody this but it probably will never happen. Well not any time soon. If I could get my hands on four SSF4 arcade machines that is two set ups, I’ll take out the consoles and make everything coin operated so people wouldn’t have to pay an entry fee. That would be really cool. That would really be arcade style. But that’s not gonna happen.
