Sirlin could have made the game even worse and by virtue of it being based on the SF2 engine it’s still better than sf4.
I object! I liked Killer Instinct. It was mad crazy but fun as well.
Yeah, KI was fantastic!
I played it a lot and had so much fun with it.
Still have the soundtrack CD that came with the game too, it’s pretty cool.
Would have been interesting seeing how Rare would update KI, if they didn’t go crazy, I mean.
I wonder if Rare has what it takes to make a truly competitive fighter. Probably not, especially nowadays considering their new focus on casual bullshit.
I don’t think Rare has focus on any particular thing right now.
I think the Rare we know is dead and gone forever.
I said KI was gimmicky I never said it wasn’t fun. One look at the combo system and you knew it was a big gimmicky game. I use to have some fun with it, but SF consumed me. SF was the game I wanted to be serious about. In my arcade KI and UMK3 got the most attention.
Reading comprehension issues? I was challenging the guy to name some good games that were released in the past few years prior to SF4/BB. I never said that SF4 and BB were better than all the older games.
I even mentioned GGAC/Tekken 5 in my post, so you clearly have some form of downs. I’ll give you KOF XI and VF4:EVO though, hell even VF5, but I’m not giving you AH because it’s a pretty unpopular series and heavily debated as to whether it’s even a good game or not, just like MBAA.
KOF98UM and HDR are just rebalances of older games (GGAC sort of is but was enough for me to consider it it’s own game), and therefore don’t really count as new additions to the market. My point was that in the past few years VERY few FGs that were actually worth playing have actually been released.
So that gives us 6 games which are widely considered to be great standalone games released since ~2005, two of which are from the same series (VF4/VF5), one of which is essentially a rebalance of several previous rebalances (GGAC), and one of which is not widely considered to be a good game (AH). We also have like 2 rebalances of older games to satisfy fans of those games, which did not really in any way help the FG community grow.
I think that pretty much backs up my point that the fighting game scene has been pretty lacking in recent years, when only 4 separate franchises have released truly new games, and 3 have introduced rebalances for older games in 6 years.
Yes,I think IV and BB are more interesting than Tekken 5 or any Tekken game for that matter.
The only game I find more interesting in that list of your is VF4:EVO and GG:AC,but it’s not relevant since north america/europe couldn’t care less about VF anyway (and I’m not a KOF fan as well).
SF4 and BB are both better than 98UM, XI, HDR, T5, and VF4. AH3 and GGAC win though.
Subjectivity overboard, fellas.
Opinions and facts are the same exact things on SRK apparently.
All of the games mentioned here are really good. Except for Killer Instinct, but that game was only a satire, anyway.
With the exception of HDR…
Yeah, actually.
and how much time have you put in GG KOF Tekken VF and Arcana Heart?
Explain…
Every game you mentioned that’s not HDR is just another positive magnet versus negative magnet game.
man fuck that gaem i cant beat it
