The stick looks like its covered in that rubbery stuff they put on their Onza controllers
Mad Catz also covered their micro xbox 360 controllers its quality stuff
I can almost guarantee that the top panel is not plastic their stuff is always quality, but this shit prolly going to cost $$
Ah man, Iāve already got a list of things to comment on, but this one just gets me where it hurts.
Use the proper connector, folks. Having a combination of āSure, mod the crap out of it, but donāt break open the boxā combined with all wires going into that box without removeable connectors is bad enough. Then, to use the blatantly WRONG connector for the stick?
That connector will come loose and fall off, and the customer would have to choose between voiding the warranty to put the proper connector on, or using hot glue on the inside of their stick.
The āNo Seimitsu for youā QDās are one thing, kind of understandable mistake. The female A USB jack on the back is worse, but managable. But not using the proper connector for the joystick harness is pretty bad.
I noticed that as well, but to be fair none of us know how that connector fits yet. It could be worthless like the harness found in an SE stick, or it could be much tighter like those found in a TE stick. Itās a shame itās not an official JLF-H from the goā¦ but I guess thatās an extra expense which may or may not be implemented after the Beta phase.
Yeah, agreed. Though I bring up the Micro connectors and their high insertion rating because of the USB-B failures weāve seen with the Neutrik jacks; I think the central pole setup in USB-B receptacles could be a weak point with something that will be replugged a lot, in the long run. 'Course that is with naked USB cables (no NKUSB-style boot), and they have wiggle room in the NAUSB jacks, so it makes wear much worse. The USB-B setup in a Razer should be less prone to failure than that if it is solid enough.
That said, the micro or mini connectors would be a little awkward on such a large case, and Neutrik-style jacks are too expensive. Something strong like the connectors on the MLG pad might be cool.
Oh, just realized how you open it up by pressing the plastic piece with the razor logo. I was trying to figure out what the ribbon cable running to that section was (thought it was LED control for backlit logoā¦ which would be pretty sweet) but then realized itās for the headset jack, lol.
Anyone else already do the Brad Pitt āawwww whatās in the box, whatās in the booooxxx?ā line in their head already?
The problem with a non-standard arrangement like the DIN style that the MLG pad uses is the fact that it limits end users. Which is good and bad, itās good because people wonāt be bitching because their shitty dollar store USB cable isnāt allowing their stick to be recognized, but bad in the sense that if someone chews up their cable they canāt track down a standard replacement. Theyāll need to find a modder to splice one up for them, or get a replacement from Razer. Theyād have to weigh that out, but itās definitely a really solid option. Nobodyās tearing a DIN bulk head connector.
For our multiconsole Mods with the Neutrik RJ-45
Hopefully we can install this
And put it next to the PCB box. Hope there is enough room.
Now that we can see the insides, it smacks of evidence that they didnāt bother to even to research the arcade stick modding community. Despite the flip top hinge, it looks like it is more of a pain in the ass to mod than a TE due to lack of space. I would just get rid of the button and bat top compartment altogether. Iād rather the pcb go there and have more space for more custom pcbs to clear up some space in the back. Itās not like I canāt put a button in the carrying bag or something.
Since itās a hinge top, you can probably mount another PCB right next to the joystick on the top panel, but otherwise yeah having the extra button compartment and bat top section seems kinda pointless, I dunno who would ever get any real use out of that
Canāt you place the Ctulhu and imp in the bottom left right behind the button and bat top compartment? I believe I see enough room in there. If not, put them underneath start and select. A Neutrik jack should fit where you think it should be placed, as taking perspective and button size into account it is around 30mm wide. (comparing from the red button, which is the closest) and a neutrik only needs a 24mm hole, but that hole will not be fun to drill. Iād definitely go inside-out on that one.
Most TEās donāt have that layout, in fact the only one that does that I know of is the MLG stick. And thatās probably because itās geared towards a 3d fighter where the 4 buttons take that layout, since capcom doesnāt allow their games in MLG.
Maybe thatās why Razer is doing the same layout, but since you can move them so easily then itās not really an issue with anybody who can actually open the box up
Isnāt that a japanese TE? the American / SFIV edition TEs and SEs have a different layout that works out the box for SFIV without having to do button configs using the controller layout:
Do they need to have an extra license to do this? I find it hard to believe that MS mandates a specific button layout that weād have to adhere to. If so, that kinda sucks, but depending on the cost of the licensing i think itās still worth it to make it more convenient and intuitive for the competitive gamers, being this is a niche market specific for competitive fighting games.
In anycase, i hope they can make it like the madcatz layout, as itās ready out the box without having to button config. at least for SFIV.
It would be awesome if Chevrolet made an arcade stick like this and put one of their powerful engines into it so that you could tell people you play with Hemi-Royds.
note that you said SFIV in your sentence
that is a license
in otherwords a peripheral that is tied to a game
the MS layout has been around since the start of the xbox 360 mainly because of DOA4. MS just used that layout and mandated that all joystick peripherals that are officially licensed by MS them that are not tied to a game to have that layout.
Its stupid but themās the breaks
and its not a madcatz layout
its a street fighter layout
its the same layout for street fighter regardless of console dating back to before madcatz made arcade sticks
Ah. youāre right. I guess iām just biased because i play SF a lot, lol. at the end of the day as long as the buttons are easy to mod iāll be ok with it. (Iām glad they donāt have retarded designs like he button-pcbs like on the T6). Oh, and PLEASE no special/security screws like the T6.
On a side note, has anyone had a chance to feel the weight of the stick if you happen to be @ TGS? if so how does it feel? The heavier the better, in my opinion.
