The Rap Thread: News, Reviews, Rants, Opinions Vol 7. Death to Swizz Beats!

What you don’t mention is that that ugly-ass tattoo covers her WHOLE ASS. I was so sad when I saw that video. That ass would be an EASY 10/10 if not for that bullshit. I mean, it almost seems like she knew that ass would be too much, so she put that dumb ass ink ALL OVER IT.

update 36 minutes ago says he is in a coma. speaking of guru

sorry, that update was old from eonline. but yeah, there are conflicting stories right now. he was in surgery hours ago. i read something about critical condition. we will know in the morning. shame. some stupid nigga on allhiphop.com was like, he aint no fan of guru. i hate young people sometimes.

What’s wrong with not being a fan of Guru?

I like Gangstarr, but I’m not gonna get mad at somebody who doesn’t. :-/

Most likely, the dumbass said it in a “get well” type thread. Trolling shit.

Gang Starr has so many classics songs under their belt, I hope that Preemo and Guru patch things up if Guru makes it through this.

yeah, he said it in the thread about guru’s ill will. i was like, dont nobody need to know you dont like guru. just say your i hope he pulls through and dip. i aint heated, i just think its corny internet shit, and well, in my opinion, the dude made classics. respect. just straight up excellent music. i was just literally bumpin his shit this past weekend. plus, i saw his little youngin ass avatar of himself, and it irritated me. lol. im sure he is a fan of bullshit, and knows little of what he dislikes. he just googled guru, maybe did one youtube search, and was like, eh, that nigga okay. you dont like guru, fine, but i just thought it was in distaste for him to drop that in a get well guru thread. he just looked like a nigga that would drop tears over that nigga that sings that stanky leg song, then a fucking legend in my opinion.

that would be like going in the thread of our recently passed member, dasrisk, and be like, i never really liked him, but r.i.p. wtf, i would smack a nigga over some shit like that in real life, but thats just me. the puerto rican gets fired up in me sometimes, and im already sick and tired of youngins. plus i got a beer in me, and you know how that goes.

Best wishes for guru.

Speaking of people having a wall to climb over, whats going on with charles hamilton?I was listening to some of his mixtapes…can’t front nigga is nice +beats are crazy.Any info?

i never listened to hamilton to be honest.

gangstarr- just to get a rep

I’m not a gangstarr fan,not going into why…I respect them dudes, just not a fan (though I want to peep the Jazzmatazz shit again now that I know he got Isaac Hayesand shit on there - just bein real about it)…but “The Militia” - is one of the dopest rap tracks eva…it introduced me to Freddy Foxx/Bumpy Knuckles.

Guru got through his surgery!Thank God,http://www.allhiphop.com/stories/news/archive/2010/03/02/22138162.aspx Hope Guru gets his health in check, then have a Gang Starr reunion.I was thinking today Preemo brings the best out of Guru and Guru brings the best out of Preemo.

It’s good to hear Guru is going to make a ful recovery. And why did Meth apologize to Fonzie Bear? :wtf:

it struck him finally its not his generation…an the old art of battling is no longer relevant nor is he REGARDLESS of how much we will sit an defend him.

Oh. I swear the differences between our generation and the new generation is so obvious like RuPaul.

pretty much. so don’t be surprised when you start to hear

stupid dupid flames >>>Method Man

But in the perpetual art of Hip Hop’s voice called Rap, you have to endure the dumb shyt in order to get the good shyt. So in time we will relive the era of “MC’s” and “Lyricist”. Till then

any southern mc wit a hot beat for the club or dancefloor>>>>>>whomever u listened/listen to in your life

I was bumping that Freeway and Jake One Stimulus Package CD last night,Free and Jake came through so far.Im like 4 tracks into it,I skipped around a little too and the whole thing sounds like fi-yah!

meth and them never had an argument in the first place. they cosigned odb. odb is a platinum selling artist that was one of the most popular and successful members of wu tang. enough said.
odb never had bars, odb constantly recorded while drunk and high, odb was constantly incoherent, odb constantly perpetuated stereotypes, etc. etc.

yet rae, ghost and meth sat up there and criticized waka. selective memory at its finest. good shit to waka for taking the high road and for meth for recanting his statement.

as a fan of wu, and a new/recent fan of waka, i can appreciate both. obviously wu has classics as a group and as solo artists, and they feel like they are qualified to speak on certain things…like what they feel real hip hop is and what it is not…but they need to remember ol dirty bastard. wu fans as well need to remember odb. i know i’m not the only one that purchased the first album, that checked for verses from him on forever, that was a lil upset that he didn’t have a lot of verses on that album, etc. etc.

i keep telling ppl that its not about bars. its about charisma and a great song making ability. if you lack those two things then you will never ever blow.

i also keep telling ppl that if you do not listen to waka flocka (as in the mixtapes) then you are not qualified to give your opinion on the matter. the fact is that dude has a target audience, dude has good music, good songs, good tapes and good appearances. it is what it is.

Had a post on Wacka Flacka or what ever his name was, but something messed up. Found a video about it though so…

an he won’t last very long…

another milk carton moment coming soon…

in response to that vid:

 1. waka flocka didn’t get offended. he corrected the interviewer, who was being sarcastic when she said something about him having lyrics.
 2. the person in the vid contradicted himself in the first few seconds of the vid. biz is considered a “great” but was never known for having dope bars. charisma carried him.
 3. there are plenty of examples in hip hop of emcees that have been at the top of the game without having dope lyrics. dmc (not run), nore, biz, easily come to mind. if we really want to go into that, a lot of the earlier emcees 79-84ish didn’t have dope lyrics at all. it was about charisma over a dope beat to move the crowd/generate buzz/etc.

it didn’t end up being about dope lyrics until the mid/late 80’s. your ll’s, rakim’s, big daddy kane’s, etc. are all from the mid-late 80’s, as is the juice crew, bdp, etc. i guess you could throw in kool moe dee as an early example, but other than that…???

ppl have selective memory. even when it comes to the 90’s. what were the fugees (since they’re on my mind) saying that was so dope other than what was coming out of lauryn’s mouth? yet the fugees are considered one of the greatest to do it, right? and pras???

groups have always been like that. wu tang and odb, run dmc and dmc, the fugees and pras and wyclef (to an extent), etc. etc.

what was kurtis blow saying that was so dope…?
soul sonic…??
sugar hill…?

and this is coming from someone in the north. since ppl bring it up, lets talk about the north before we even get on the south because real talk, a lot of emcees that meet the criteria of having sub par lyrics DID come out of the north and DID make it off of the strength of being around emcees that were considered better than they were.

and waka never backed down. meth did. waka always talked about not having dope lyrics but doing rap anyway. again, ppl speaking about artists they don’t listen to. smh.

now that its on my mind, a lot of ppl don’t consider 50 lyrical at all. 10 mil sold. twice.

and since dude posted numbers, where are the numbers for artists after 2004 when ppl stopped going platinum due to poor sales around the board??

what about the large list of emcees that are all lyrics but no charisma? and i like how kanye is on the list but kanye wasn’t lyrical until a few years ago. college dropout was not that dope, lyrically (from kanye’s end).

also on wayne’s end, wayne got better lyrically but thats not what sold. his charisma is through the roof. ppl don’t give a fuck about what you’re saying, its how you say it. period.

this is why ppl in his group are biting his flow.

what about jeezy?? where are the bars?

and to the ppl talking about lyrics will take you farther than not having them…well, how about that one hit wonder soulja boy? where is he now? living in his mother’s basement? oh ok.
