I skimmed through that new Little Brother a bit today. It sounds too soft imo.“Tigalo For Dolo” is straight HARD.I wish LB would be on that style all the time. That’s why I liked Get Back,LB sounded alot more aggressive on there.Maybe I have to give it a few more listens before I make my mind up.

So say the gov’t set aside 10 mill for a Hip Hop Hall of Fame. Who would you induct and why?

Pioneers
Sugar Hill Gang - Not the first hip-hop group or act, but arguably the ones responsible for breaking hip-hop into the pop light.
E-40 - first independant artist to sign a million dollar contract
Master P - the first real large independant ‘group’ to break thru to national fame.
Big Pun - First platinum Latin rapper

etc
Sales
Eminem…highest selling rapper every
2Pac…numba 2
(I think Hammer is 3 followed by Nelly or something like that)

Crews
NWA
BDP
Cash Money
The Commission
etc

Who would you induct?

Imo I would take out Cash Money and add Wu, ATCQ, Beasties, Gangstarr, BTnH, DMC, Fugees, OutKast, 3rd Bass, De La, Cypress, EPMD, and NBN. Best prod., top lyricist, and Greatest album or a list of classics is necessary too. Maybe the best region rappers

That new Eminem freestyle is disgusting, sweet christmas!:wow:

No lie. This shit is flames. :looney:

why take out cash money??

theyve been around since 89… brian an baby williams signed the greatest distribution deal EVER noted for a independent label.

they OWN ALL RIGHTS/MASTERING/PUBLISHING/ASCAP rights…ALL

they gave the industry BG, Juvie, Wayne, Turk

they gave the BEST view of New Orleans…dont let no limit fool you…

they came into the game with a motto (shinnin an ballin) an stuck wit that bitch an got recognition for that shyt

cash money deserves to be in just as much as the list you just named. trust me on this one.

My thing is when it comes to the Indie perspective

E-40 started that shit on a national level
No Limit was the first from the South to start doin numbers
Cash Money made the best moves…fuck their first deal was signed for like 107 million dollars…dudes past SC hadn’t even heard of them and they massaged a 100 million dollar deal, with all the rights.

Those three acts should def be on there along with Wu0Tang - first musical contract to allow the memebers to go solo with a different record label…

I just don’t like the music, especially now that Fresh is gone. His prod. Was the only reason I flowed with Big Tymers and early 2000 CM. Besides Juvenile that whole label gets the boot to me. Considering the music they put out now, not classic. Giving the WHOLE label Hall of Fame status ain’t a goo look. Maybe period wise? I’ll give you that.

But y’all are talking about that business sector, I’m just talking music.

See but even on that tip I want to put them in there, 400 Degreez is a classic IMO. That joint is on my iPod right NOW lol. Shit stays on there like my Hova catalog, Ye catalog, Heltah Skeltah catalog, and Chino XL catalog.

However, your comments make me think that a hip-hop hall of fame would be best served - broken up by region than time frame. So you could do the whole South movement thing, showcasing some of the early pioneers and success stories, and give them their proper shine (just like the midwest)…I mean the East and West or so well known, yet the true story of the South is a big question makr to most folks. To the average listner, the south STARTED with No Limit, Outkast was nothing more than a random ass successful ‘blimp’ in the hiphop radar…the region itself was just…sshhhhh. How many folks growing up knew Kriss Kross was really reppin ATL? Weren’t they rockin Yankee’s apparell and shit? So I really think it should be broken out by region and then within region add in history to cover up to the current time frame, like a meuseum so to speak, but honoring those that really fit on there ya know.
