I don’t understand why all the fuss over ragequitting. It’s a free win, and you immediately get to move on to your next opponent. I do know for a fact that you get wins from ragequits (I unlocked my 50-win achievement on a ragequit), and I’m also fairly certain that you still get credit for OCVs on a ragequit as well (either that, or I’ve been OCVing people a hell of a lot more than I think; tu4ar.com says my OCV/win rate is ~40%, and I’ve had quite a few ragequits).
I hope you’re joking.
In a game where (as you admit) Magneto just warps around at random and blocking tri-jumps is entirely guesswork, I don’t see how you can possibly attribute more “skill” to Magneto than Cable or Sentinel. It’s practically to the point of “get close and execute programmable macro,” because it’s not like they can actually react to what you’re doing.
Yea, a win isn’t as meaningful when other cheating people are getting winning records just as easily with less skill.
As for warping magneto taking no skill, all the top tiers have had a similar boost really. Sents unblockables are fucking easy as shit now, cable unbrockable, storm the warping sister. All top tier play seems to be cheap with no skill nowadays. Hell, i find ironman cheap as hell now too just because its hard as fuck to roll so he can do the easiest c.lk c.lk setups.
You’re quoting me in response to somebody crying that their Magneto was getting beat up. I won’t argue that Warpneto isn’t Lame City - merely that if you’re playing Magneto and crying about getting beat up, your Magneto is weak.
I have zero sympathy ever for anyone playing Magnus, Sentinel, Storm, Cable, or Blackheart (for example) crying about how hard it is to win. Those guys have incredible tools: if you’re losing, improve your skill set.
This should be largely caused by win/loss reporting being severely askew. About 1/3 of my non-ragequit “losses” were actually wins. Track your wins/losses versus what the leaderboard says and you’ll see what I mean.
We’re all in the same boat here, so it doesn’t reallllly matter unless you get matched up against a bunch of scrubs. I had a huge Ranked streak against scrubs, leaderboard magically decided that my undefeated streak included… 10 losses or so, and I jumped down a bunch of spots on the leaderboard. As long as you play against people around your own level, it doesn’t affect you nearly so much. But it’s definitely a sad sad factor.
techmaster: that’s what I’ve been saying. the best tools of the top tiers are even better. storm/sent teleporting makes keeping mags out waaaay easier. if mags gets in, hitting you is way easier (but worse lag makes it harder to confirm/combo…which is why I think storm/sent/bh/cable have it a bit better…they don’t need to combos/rush like magnus you, just chip/let you get hit/do simple combos), unbloCABLE is a bitch.
IM gets the least buff imo. that cr.lk cr.mk was annoying at first, but just mash roll. IMs main tool (cheapness) comes from GBing and comboing…none of which get a boost from online play (infact they can only, and have been at times, hindered from online)
if you’re not comboing, good luck fighting storm and/or sent and/or BH and/or cable with commando/cyc who just run away hold up/back. or trying to hit strider out of his motions. it’s harder for my mags online, it’s a bitch with IM unless they just run right into you/try to fight you (lol)
i don’t think ironman got real buff, its just that his setups off short short are way too easy and has like the longest duration for a 2hit hit-confirm. Trust me, i’ve tried every rolling technique possible. I don’t get it, it might just be me. I mash roll, try doing it early, late, late and early, hold my stick by the ball and spin the stick like a helicopter. I seriously roll 1/4 times. Maybe its the TE, but i dont know. Actually there are plenty of other people that agreed with me.
Its just that i’ve had a decent amount of matches where ironman raped my team, all starting with that damn c.lk, c.lk when i tried to roll every single time lol
yeah, mvc2 roundhouse caught me with the crappy shit the first time lol. I’m like “no one does that!” well, nearly no one, it’s so rollable…anyway I recognize and try to roll…nope i’m hit into the inf. next time though I just mash roll. ya just need to start mashing roll lol (damn colossus cr.hkxxtackle)
i dont know, i categorize the roll problem as the same as the ROM problem. Some people can do it, some people can’t. I have a brand new TE, so I don’t think its the stick. Maybe my compatibility with the stick, but no stand alone functional error with the stick. Maybe I can’t use a square gate. But trust me, i do MASH roll. There have been times where i mashed the input 3x for roll and never rolled.
Im kind of an asshole, yesterday i was doing magneto slides on folks all day lol. almost nobody rolled. 1 rep rom, dash other side, c.hk+capcom hypergrav tempest lmao. omg, i used to do that combo like 5 years ago lol.
I think it just has mostly to do with time-sensitive defensive actions being inherently harder online because it’s online, combined with the input lag of the port. It’s harder to roll IM c.mk, Storm c.mk, Jill slide to OTG, Colossus c.hk to tackle, Magneto slide, and so on, just like it’s even harder to block meaty assist crossups, or Sent flying back and forth over you dropping CapCom, and whatnot. I mash roll when those characters start hitting me like anyone should…sometimes I roll out, sometimes I don’t. :\
Nah, this isn’t just lag, it’s a timing window of bogusness. I cannot jump when I should be able to, near as I can tell. So I’m held on the ground for +3 frames or so and THEN I can jump.
So far I usually have to play about ~10 Player matches before I adjust to the slightly revised timing. Otherwise in the first 10 matches I lose about 3-4 of them as my character is stuck standing when he should be able to jump.
its so annoying… .and I play with chun-li only and still get a lot of rage quits… even from good players some times… actually he wasnt that good player if he rage quits… I started to mail back wonly saying “rage quitter lol”… but that thing just dont stop -__-
i so fustrated right now!!! all i want to do is play some friendly games and people kept rage quitting on me…i mean come on i was just one guy who pick mag/sent/cable and apparently he was just starting out, but i’m like if u don’t pick good people how u gonna get better? jeez it’s like i’m not top tier the hell outta people…if they go low, i go low; if they go high, i go high. feels like every time i go in a room everyone leaves… LOL AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG?!
Ok, now I’m all but certain that ragequits prevent the quitter from taking a loss. I was playing coldcasekilla, his Magneto kills my Rogue and he taunts, then my Cable comes in and kills his Magneto and Psylocke and he quits. I looked up his record on tu4ar.com before the match and he had 2 losses. I checked scoreboard immediately after the match and he was at 130-2. I wait for the next scoreboard update and check again, he’s at 133-2. A while later I check again and he’s at 134-2. If disconnects earned you losses, he should have rolled over to 3 losses at some point but he never did.
And then I played Weltall-. His record was 366-12 before my match. I got him to DC. Then a few games later we got matched up again and he DC’d again. His record when I check in on him several minutes later? Instead of the 14 losses you’d expect, he was sitting at 368-12.
There is pretty much no point to the top of this leaderboard if you can, at will, avoid taking losses on your record should you be unfortunate enough to be threatened with one. Maybe it only works right on Xbox? The comparison between their leaderboard and the PS3’s on tu4ar.com looks rather suspicious.
I figured rage quitters don’t get a loss for quitting. I’m 3-0 with Cable/IronMan/Sentinel, but two of those were from disconnects and tu4ar.com says I’ve only won once with that team. Sadly I’ll know that I’ll get my ass kicked for using that team at the arcades, since my IronMan sucks so badly. At this rate I’ll probably never break from the low 1,000 in ranked, thanks to the scrubs.:lame:
