Haven’t had the chance to practice yet unfortunately, but it doesn’t look very hard. I’ll have time tomorrow to practice though, might start trying to really run Magneto point, or whatever other character corner carries and can effectively TAC.
Yeah I was thinking magneto/morrigan/doom could really take advantage of this well. Anyways, someone has shown it can work from all directions so this is definitely worth learning.
I’ve been trying to get this but so far with no good results. It seems you HAVE to whiff j.S after the last Sfist unfly or it won’t work. Is anyone here having success with this yet?
When you say “whiff j.S” are you referring to input nullification? Never bothered with any of her infinites until I saw this one, so I’m not familiar with how to do input null.
I’m no Morrigan main, but I tried it out for a bit. I hadn’t learnt the regular infinite, so I thought I’d learn that first. After 20 minutes or so I had it down 99%. Tried for another half an hour and couldn’t get 1 rep of the new infinite with soul steal. I could get soul steals to hit but I guess I wasn’t whiffing shellkick after unflying and possibly cancelling the soul steals too late.
It’s not something I’m going to bother to learn, I’m happy that I’ve got a consistent infinite for her down now already. But I do see it being practical with enough practice. You could even do some normal reps first before going into the loop with the soul steal.
Input null works because you do “unfly” + another atk button, but since unfly is done with S, the only way to make it whiff after unflying is double tapping it. The thing is that you could get a TAC attempt if you were holding a direction.
So as far as watching the Japanese video, I believe the notation for the down TAC is: TAC ADF j.L xx Soul Fist L/M (?) delay ADDF j.M j.H Soul Fist H xx unfly j.S land Soul Drain xx Fly j.M j.M/H (?) unfly j.S land etc… Can anyone confirm this/correct this?
Ok, so I’ve been doing ADF j.L xx Soul Fist L delay ADDF j.M j.H Soul Fist H xx unfly Soul Drain. However, when I continue with Fly j.M input nullification j.H they pop out of the combo before j.H hits. Now when I do the same combo but with Soul Fist H xx unfly j.S land Soul Drain, the Soul Drain NEVER connects. I haven’t gotten it once. I want to do this combo so badly, someone post and help me ;_;
I’m having the same issue, perhaps there’s a timing or a specific height so that j.S won’t make you delay the Soul Drain too much. I mean, if we’re gonna have to whiff j.S after unfly and ALSO time the Soul Drain perfectly I don’t think this is gonna be too practical.
morrigan sentinel dante is my team…how effective is drones for this team? i really wanna play this team seems really mvc2ish! anyway what are your thought, strategies i should use etc thanks
I don’t have any combos that use drones in any effective way with Morrigan, but you can rush in nicely with drones since she protects assists so well. Once you’re in or have them forced against the corner you can use Jam Session for faster lockdown and Soul Drain combos in the corner. Jam Session does a good job as a lockout assists too, people who try to SJ in run into Jam Session instead. Good quick vertical covering assist.
Well the shell kick should make you land faster making the link after the h soul fist actually easier. The only problem is the execution of doing QCF+H, QCB+S, j.S, QCF+S really fast is quite executionally demanding. Way harder than say Magneto’s EMP loop which I’m decently consistent at.
I really can’t tell what’s going on in the video at all past the first rep, but perhaps try ending every rep with a Soul Fist into unfly since the hit stun ona Soul Fist is greatly exceeds the hitstun on any of her normals. Also, I’d advise buffering the qcf for the Soul drain before you even touch the ground so all you need to do upon landing is hit S to special cancel the landing frames from the j.S. I’m absolutely certain that property is why this even works at all.
I believe they’re popping out before the j.H because it’s a bit too slow (or the j.M before it doesn’t have enough hitstun, however you want to interpret it). I replayed that video at 50%, and the bold part appears to be either this:
Fly j.M input null j.M land etc.
or this:
Fly input null j.M j.M land etc.
And yeah, it’s hard to tell because of the low framerate of that recording. With the former, you’d have to delay that second j.M to get the to get the super low landing j.M that hits while looking like it only partially extended. I speculate that delay will cause them to pop out.
I’m leaning towards the latter, because it should get you the super low landing j.M without having to delay it, which should allow you to keep it going. Actually, you have to hit it extremely fast, or else j.M won’t come out before Morrigan lands.
Instead of trying to do input nullification j.H after j.M, try and do regular j.H and they still fall out due to the hitstun running out from you touching the ground before soul draining. That’s why I’m sure the shellkick is needed.
But yeah to get the shellkick you need to go back to neutral really fast after unflying. It does work in the same way as Magneto’s EMP loop (sj.H dash down S really fast) but with just more motions but it’s definitely technically practical.
Might be better to try and learn the H soul fist variation before trying the soul drain one though.
Also if you want to try and practice easier motions without TACing, put her in 3rd and TAC to her twice.
Damn I’m about to give up on this thing. The issue with the infinite is that unlike Magneto’s EMP loop (which is super easy compared to this) you have to do the following motions:
236H, then 214S then back to neutral and hit S and THEN 236S timed so that it cancels shellkick.
Which wouldn’t be a problem, except you gotta do all that extremely fast and it has to be perfect or no infinite for you.
