I figured I would go around and post this on character forums so folks can check it out:
How much does Weskers gunshot assist help morrigan get combos off air and ground throws?
I don’t think it comes out fast enough, IIRC.
After 30 secs. of testing, you can crouch under Dante box dash M at any range, and Dante box dash H at any range but the end of his blade. You can mash on c.:l: and stuff his box dash preemptively as well.
We had a big tourney this past weekend here in Mexico and got to practice vs some great players.
Takeaways:
The AV resets are totally legit. I managed to outright kill a character 2-3 times, and pretty much always landed at least one reset. Hard tagging is a way out, though…but you could probably bait it and ping-pong da fool, or just start again.
Spencer + beam and Hulk + drones kept blowing up my Morrigan nearly free, I couldn’t regain space consistently. Other than starting with another character, what do you guys normally do?
I’m in a love/hate relationship with Doom. He’s so helpless as anchor, and yet I keep squeezing fraudulent comebacks with him.
I was never on stream, so I don’t have any videos to share
Some footage of Tonosama doing a Morrigan TAC infinite: www.twitch.tv/finalroundbats/b/358387251 (5:22:00 mark)
Anyone learnt any of these yet? How tight are they to do compared to other characters infinites?
it seems harder than most invinites (since there are easier version comming out every week). the most difficult part is the soul drain cancel into unfly-medium. i think this part gets a lot easier if u use marlinpie’s tech to cancel flight into normal (just do unfly and the normal that u want to come out at the same time). here are the inputs (in case someone is interested): tac up - tac hit - dash forward - wait - air h - h soulfist - fly- air m - air h - soul drain - cancel b4 the ball comes out into unfly normal cancel m - jump - air h - h soulfist - fly - air m - air h - soul drain… and so on.
and ill also take the chance to indroduce myself: im a mid rank player from germany. yes, we do play marvel here. no, unfortunately due to the lack of tourney and marvels bad netcode, most of us suck compared to usa or japan but were trying :D
Has anyone come up with a good TAC bait combo with morrigan? She has a super jump height conversion combo to capitalise off of a TAC bait but I find the problem is forward techs make the opponent go behind you which makes it impossible to get her SJ height combo going. Also I find her SJ height combo doesnt quite work if your opponent is at maximum super jump height, so if you clip their legs with the tip of her j.H you wont be able to bring em down to the ground with it.
Has anyone else experimented with TAC baits with her?
I have never messed with TAC baits. I think someone here mentioned that near the end of your combo you can use Soul Drain and catch them with it if they’re mashing, but I’ve never tried it. With things like being able to TAC after Finishing Shower, TAC dash-cancelling, and simply finishing the combo and going into AV I’ve never thought of baiting.
I’ve done it a bit. Soul drain works sometimes but you can see it if they are paying attention. do J.L into SF l, then fly cancel. J.M if the hitstun is really high. Mess around with it.
Can anyone tell me how to get the L shadow blade to connect after the j.L? I can’t seem to do it when trying this setup.
You have to do Shadowblade ASAP after the j.L, and I mean ASAP. I was able to do it by holding the stick forward, and then doing a TK Shadowblade as fast as I could, while double tapping L. Mind you that I cannot do this consistently at all, and that I was able to do it a couple times without setting it up as a fuzzy first, I merely did it with the dummy not guarding.
Something to take note of though is that notice where Morrigan is in the video. She isn’t pressed against Magneto, and she jumps back before dashing in. It’s easier to do this set-up the lower you can get the opponent to block j.M. I was able to do it just like the video shows once. I don’t wanna try again because I feel like I’ll hurt my hand lol.
Man, fighting Hulk as morrigan is hard, specially at the beginning since he has an assist covering him and he can gamma charge carelessly. I find that I need to activate Astral Vision ASAP vs him or get a quick assist that keeps him still.

Option select shadowblade H with a throw at the beginning. If a grab break happens, jump backwards or shadowblade H again. Should avoid the situation. You can fly cancel of course and get a full combo from it.
Made a small video showing morrigans TAC bait/reset
I got 2nd at a tourney only losing to ChrisG. http://www.twitch.tv/bifuteki/b/378592133 14min and on for this and http://www.twitch.tv/bifuteki/b/378604427 8min on from that
What makes Morrigan so good? I’m after a versatile point character with good mixups and lot’s of options. So far I have Nova and Morrigan. Can anyone go into detail for me?
The number 1 thing that makes Morrigan so good is her ability to cancel special moves with flight, something no other character can do. What this means is that she can repeatedly Soul Fist (setting up the flood), she can get a full combo off of Shadowblade (3 frame DP), and she can cover her own movement with Soul Fist. 2 is her normals are fantastic. s.L hits low, s.H can be linked into s.M or s. H (easy Hidden Missile confirm), c.L hits multiple times, and all of her air normals (which you’ll be using the most) have awesome hitboxes. 3 is that her movement is very good. She is quick, and has 4 different types of airdashes, for quick getaways and rushdown. Combine movement (especially if you can plink well) with Soul Fist and she can be super tough to catch. 4 is that her hypers are amazing. Finishing Shower is her standard combo ender, and if you’re in the corner you can do some other things directly after, like TAC or Shadowblade xx Finishing Shower (if you started grounded).
Shadow Servant is an OTG hyper that has a long period of invincibility, good for stopping aggressive rushdown. Darkness Illusion is an air-OK lv. 3 with a long period of invincibility as well, that you can combo Shadow Servant afterwards. The ever popular Astral Vision is pretty self-explanatory. 5 is her synergy. Dark Harmonizer is the fastest meter-build assist, and it builds the most as well. Shadowblade is invincible on CC and can be comboed afterwards. She has a TAC infinite from all directions in the corner, and once you learn one direction you can do all directions. She has very few cons. Her cons are that her ground mobility is weak. Since she is aerial 90% of the time, getting into proper position can be tough, and being in the air means things like Vajra are hard to deal with. Her second is her difficulty with characters who can cross up easily or can rushdown effortlessly. Wolverine, Dante, Vergil, and a properly assisted Zero are her weakest match-ups, because they will cross you up mid input or will force you to block, and once they have you grounded it will be hard getting back up. Lastly, tough learning curve. I’m pretty sure most people give her up when they realize that they can’t soul fist flood everyone.
Summary: Can fly cancel specials
Really strong normals, air and ground
Agile, air movement is good
One of the best hypers in the game
Fairly strong team synergy
Bad ground movement
Other top-tier characters will make life difficult
Hard to play
As far as what you’re looking for, playing Morrigan in general means you probably have an assist that can reach SJ height, like Strider, Doom, or Dante. She really only needs one assist to help her in the neutral, as combo extenders don’t improve your damage much, but keep in mind some assists help her use Soul Drain to steal meter in combos. She has good mixups/crossups, s.L hits low, j.H can crossup, Fly xx j.S is an extremely fast overhead, and she has a command grab. Her mixup game isn’t as strong as Zero or Magneto, but it’s good. Options wise, you can do whatever you want. Zone, rush, run away, whatever, she can probably do it. While I say her team synergy is strong, she really only meshes with characters who do well with one assist, like Zero, Viper, Magneto, Dante, Vergil…See where I’m going? Her synergy is best with the top tier characters, weaker characters most likely need two good neutral assist, something Morrigan can’t help with. But since your interest lies in point Morrigan, you don’t have to worry about that as much. If you decide to practice her, don’t rush yourself and take your time getting consistent at fly-cancelling. Good luck!
Ill just leave this here…
Can anyone explain when/why I should use ADD j.M over ADD j.H?
