The Queen of MAHVELL 3!: The Morrigan GD Thread

Youre not supposed to use it in the neutral game, youre supposed to hit confirm of of rapid slash with it.

Youre also supposed to eat stuff with it. Namely EVERYTHING your opponent can possibly throw at you.
other guy jumped over something and beat you in the neutral, anti air them with the belt.
other guy camping you out and is throwing 50 durability points worth of projectiles at you, strap yo belt on and cut right through that mess.
Dr. strange trying to chip out your last bit of health with the book, spiral dem swords, ignore that stupid pillar and have you a Strange Sandwich

Luckily Morrigan air SFs come from nice angle against it

That’s not entirely true, you can shift from Spiral to Blistering in the air if you have a second meter available, making Starfall confirms not very hard at all. Obviously you can’t always do this, but it is a possibility.

JEO’s Morrigan is godlike, but I don’t really like his combo choices (that 2C really ain’t giving that combo that much)

What does morrigan have to stop people from comboing your assists in the air? I try like superjump H but I end up getting hit myself.

Does Shadowblade have a decent enough hitbox to beat out most things? I’d assume it would, what with it being an uppercut and all

lot of the time your best option is to

  1. cross them up so that they cant super them mid air.
  2. have something ready for them on the way down.

for morrigan, my concept of number 2, would probably be activate astral vision, and start poppin fireballs off.

alternatively, if they are really about to die, yea, you can probably Shadowblade them.

Ill try them then.

On a side note, I hate getting accidental dashes out when trying to activate AV. Any solutions to this, or do I just have to be more precise with my down down input?

The stupidest thing possible - get to a ~45 degree angle and throw H Soul Fists at them, or Finishing Shower. Anything else is likely to get Morrigan caught as well.

i used to find it annoying that you can’t hear morrigan calling an assist, but now i consider it one of the good things about her.
i have this setup where morrigan can call dr. strange’s assist off screen, and my opponents have a hard time knowing i used it.

A lady should keep some kind of mysterious aura around her…

I guess that goes for succubus too

Sigh…I’ve been playing Morrigan ever since Vanilla, but I STILL have this incredibly annoying problem where for some terrible reason I can’t do Shadowblade xx Finishing Shower. Every damn time I do a combo and get to the Shadowblade xx Finishing Shower, Finishing Shower never comes out. I don’t even have this problem when I’m not comboing, I can do it just fine outside of a combo. Has anyone ever had this problem, or is this exclusive to me T~T

which shadow blade are you using? i always use the H version, and i can land it consistently. FS after a M shadowblade seems to have odd timing. the only way i could get it to work after a M shadowblade was to cancel it on the first hit. the H shadowblade seems more lenient to me.
sometimes my hypers just don’t come out when i’m playing online. i was in training mode with the input display on practicing combos. i did a hyper at the end of my combo and it didn’t come out just like what sometimes happens online! i look at the symbols and it says that my joystick motions were (D, F, R2)… lol i did a quarter circle motion! where’s the D+F? it could have been my mistake, but that’s really hard to do on a joystick.

I always use the M version, the H version hits them too high. It’s not like my inputs are off, it just doesn’t happen. It’s so hit or miss, and it pisses me off when I get a happy birthday>.>

H Shadow Blade works the best by far is you’re even or above the opponent, if you’re below, it has to be M, since H will fling them up. M Shadow Blade seems to have the exact cancel windows as L Shadow Blade.

the H version sometimes pops them up too high. i think it only does that in certain combos. try canceling the M shadow blade really early as opposed to the end of the move, but i find that the H shadowblade lets you cancel it at the end. could it be you’re hitting the opponent too soon after your S>SJ?

Mmm…Alright. I’ll go mess around with this. Thanks for the help guys:)

while we’re on the subject, i use H shadowblade in combos for ultimate because it looks cool, and i was never able to do combo>H shadowblade>FS in vanilla. i feel like they changed something there.
anyways, i do my combo>H shadowblade>FS thing, and i always feel like i’m not getting the maximum damage because the opponent is kind of skimming the top of the missiles. some people say hold up during the freeze screen, some say don’t redirect them, another guy says hold down during the freeze screen and then hold up when the missiles start hitting the opponent.
is there a sure fire way to always get the opponent in the middle of the missiles?

Cancel timing matters a lot on positioning, but after that, you get the most hits by leaving the stick neutral until the first missiles hit then hold up, if this is in that air at least. Grounded, in the corner, neutral is bets the whole way through I find, unless you need the higher for a follow up.

I didn’t know this at all in Vanilla, found it out from the Ultimate guide, went back, and realized I was losing 30-50k from all of my vanilla Morri combos.

Wow, Morrigan forums are quiet…How did the Morrigan players that went to Evo do? I made it to winners finals, where I was knocked out by Da Kid (?) and then I lost to Tayson in losers finals. It was so much fun, i didn’t think I’d do that well:)
