It’s because of Hit Stun Deterioration. The more you hit the opponent’s character, the shorter his hit stun will be for your next move to follow up. It’s a system implemented to avoid infinites.
You can lvl 3 X factor with Mirror and get about 56 hits off just H alone. Morrigan with Mirror will one of those things where we keep discovering new things years from now. <3 Morrigan.
This is my first ever marvel title. Bought it saturday and fell in love with morrigan on the same day (j.S, crouch. L(hit confirm), M, H, S, j.L, j.M, j.H, shadow blade just did it for me). But after running her in training mode and doing some of her missions im finding that she has a very low damage output compared to other characters… Am i missing something here? getting her basic BnB element wrong?
can some experienced morrigan players help me out here please? where does she get her damage from?
(i checked the other thread btw, the BnB’s listed there are pretty low dmg as well)
Her damage is solid. You’re not going to get anything over like 600K without using a bar of meter. Practice the combos that have been posted on the forum, they do nice damage. The thing about Morrigan is she is not Wesker or Sent who have insane damage output on their bnbs, but your damage will come from so many ways she has to open up an opponent and hit confirm from there.
Edit: It should really only take two good combos on the average character to finish them off if you are doing the right combos and are opening your opponent up.
her zoning is above average, she has mix-ups and ways to get in, she has one of the most legit dp’s in the game, can really make use of chip damage, her astral vision super can lockdown come characters entirely, her supers have decent synergy with a lot of teams
she doesnt have as much combo dmg as a lot of characters tho…
Like previously mentioned, she’s got some nice mix-ups. She’s also got a very good fireball trap/zoning game, especially with her Astral Vision hyper, which makes use of fly-cancelling different angled fireballs. Astral Vision is godlike, and opens up many new avenues; that shit can really lock people down and make them afraid to press buttons.
Her damage output is actually pretty good if you’re willing to burn the meter for it. Also I would avoid using 5C in combos if you’re looking for pure damage as it causes the damage to scale pretty sharply (it’s still really useful since it gives her an advantage on guard and it’s a pretty easy hitconfirm).
Her main strength lies in her aerial options though, I find that Morrigan’s actually the best in the air.
I’m loving Morrigan’s anti-armor air attack (air S). Really helping me rush down Sentinel players to the point of them rage quitting in some cases… can’t believe I made two Sentinel players quit so far with Haggar/Deadpool/Morrigan
Just a note on the combo in the OP - standing :l: hits low and while it’s not as easy to hit-confirm as cr.:l:, you can move from there into and hit-confirm that, and then use :f: if you’re being blocked for a safe block string.
Her clone super makes up for her weak damage. And if you used her with Dark Harmonizer assist, getting enough meter to spam the clone assist isn’t too hard as long as you have a good keep away character paired up with Morrigan. You also gain meter as your clone is out, and you can call assists to make some unblockables combos if you have an assist character than can hit low or over head. And thats not all… combining Morrigan’s clone super with X-factor makes her seem just as good as or a bit better than X-factor Dark Phoenix. She’s so versatile.
its obvious that astral vision makes it harder to block her but the best part is that my friends tell me now, that even when they hit me they dont know which morrigan to hit so it even makes them drop combos on me from time to time.
LOL excuse the Morrigan involving DP in topic title.
I grew up with HAPP sticks and concave buttons in the Arcades and have always been a pad player until literally 3 days ago. My Hori RAP VX-SA arrived and it’s a dream. I tried the wine glass, the whole c-cup grip, and even the douche bag grip just for kicks. Ultimately I settled down with Daigo’s grip as it feels more solid to me.
Anyway There is one mission trial where it’s LP, MP, D+MP, HP, D+HP, F+HP and Shadow Blade.
I’m having the most difficult time doing the Shadow Blade afterwards. I set the Input command on and it looks like it’s not doing the motion and sometimes when the motion for the Dragon Punch does come out the move doesn’t.
I also notice that my hadoukens aren’t coming out during air combos. It seems like whenever I’m going in for a combo in the air my grip loosens when I tap up with the stick and then it’s in a awkward position to pull off a hadouken or shoyruken. Most times I press the button before the full motion of QCF is registered so it would look like QC, Punch, F on the button input screen.
I’m used to doing my DP’s like F, QCF riding the edges. I want to continue using the square gate so I don’t want to go out and replace it with a octo gate.
