Let me guess… the gate is a square? If so you should mod it and replace with an 8-way gate
Just FYI in that combo the -> heavy counts as the forward motion of the dragon punch so you only need to input the quarter circle afterwards.
If you can do ground hadoukens you should be fine with this combo.
thanks dawkins. Didn’t know that. Fingers and hand are a little sore from play for 4 hours yesterday. Back to practicing some more.
haha DP morrigan. Um but yeah practice, and whoever told you to get an octo gate i mean he has a point, it will work better for you quickly, but almost everyone uses square gates so if you ever wanted to borrow a stick your better off learning on a square gate, because with time and practice your better off in the long run with a square gate (also it is way easier for playing charge characters if you play any other games) practice practice practice
i am still having trouble myself . from down hk to the shadow blade is kills me it comes out soul fist but i need to get to shadow blade. and i have a te stick
@ Akuma1975 I have the same problem doing her sweep D+H into shadowblade. For me what helped was think about the inputs that you need to press, the entire input Down+H then immmediately move the stick to forward and complete the dp motion. When you get a fireball you didn’t do a complete motion, I find that when I go too quickly I miss moving from down H to forward and instead hit forward+down and don’t get the full motion. When I think about what I’m doing entirely I can usually hit it.
I really need help playing keep away from ammy, wolvie, and x 23. Right now my whole game plan is to stay away from them because when they’re in they use crazy speed to stay in. All I do is fill the screen with projectiles doing the (fireball, fly, fireball, unfly) on the ground deadpool style but when they get in then what? Totally need help.
Most of the times, the opponent has no choice but to super-jump to get past the wall of fireballs. In that case, I usually either dash under them to the other side of the screen, and continue tossing projectiles. Or I will jump back if i’m not in a corner and throw a soul fist, right as they land in front of me. Instead of jumping back, you can also super-jump back throw multiple fireballs, or fly-cancel and move to the other side of the screen. You can also call an assist, but Morrigan has such an easy time moving in the air while Wolverine and X-23 barely have any air mobility, use that to your advantage.
Dude, why play keep away when Morrigan’s rushdown game is insane with astral vision+good projectile assist. Dash+drill kick is godlike, especially vs wolvies who randomly like to spam divel kick.
As for anti-rushdown stateg, her crouching light is also godlike “get off me” attack. It beats so many attacks, and so easy to hit confirm. Again, a lot of Marvel’s zoning has to do with how well you use your assists. Don’t forget you have an assist button when you’re playing the fly/unfly fireball game.
edit: of grand finals of Family Fun Arcade tourney. Lost the match unfortunately but it’s good example of how to use airdash+drill kick pressure. Took down xfacor sent+wolvie =)
I agree with mooyang, no reason to go out of your way to play keep away when her crouching light is soooo good. And against those characters, they dont have projectiles so it should be easy to keep away if you use her astral vision and unfly like you said. But yeah, if they get in, just block and keep throwing out crouching light because it is soo good. I personally prefer to play a rushdown with her and use assists that try and pin other characters down (cold star, drones, missiles, etc) and then use her great cross ups and crouching light
pssshah!.. astral vision + H. Soul Fist… over and over and over… they cannot touch you… whore meter and repeat
What the hell am I doing wrong? On the surface it seems really easy:
cr. L, cr. M, PT2, cr. H, Soul Fist H, Soul Fist M, Shadow Servant
I’ve figured out that I have to input cr. L and PT2 then immediately hit cr. M. They all combo and the assit comes out, but the input stays stuck on the partner 2 icon. What the hell?!?!?!?
For that I hit the cr.M and P2 button at the same time.
Thanks brother. That turned the trick!
I am reading through all the threads and I see combos after combos after combos…
but where do I start?? What should I practice in training mode?? How can I get ready for playing online?? How do the PRO’s practice?
Are you a true beginner, or do you have some kind of experience with the game (or other games?)
Have you completed the Missions?
To me, the most rewarding things with morrigan are
-the “fireball, fly, airfireball, unfly” thing,
-to be able to mixup in air: jump, air-dash down-forward and attack… or jump, air-dash forward, crossup H…
-and to attack using assists wisely.
But i am not a PRO, i’m an average casual who sometimes have fun doing cr.l, standing.h, cr.l, standing.h, cr.l, standing.h, cr.l, standing.h, on block, until they push block me, and then i fireball-fly-fireball-unfly again xD
practice the combos you see. if they’re too complex break them down. once you master them in training mode try to nail them in arcade mode. be creative, figure out you’re own play style… and it doesn’t hurt to watch some tournaments via streams though someone runnin morrigan is rare.
Yeah i like to watch vids but no one plays her on the pro status.
That’s because all the pros, even K1 who’s a huge Morrigan fan, have dropped her for characters that are actually worth a damn in this game.
ouch…thats mean.
