Congrats KI!
Yeah, congratulations. Hope it was filmed so it can be uploaded to youtube. I’m really curious to see how you play Morrigan.
thanks guys ! and yeah I believe some of it was recorded, Ill get in touch with the peeps there and see if I can get the footage up ASAP
Jam was my 2nd and I taught AKA My peak in GG was getting a few random wins on AKA and beating Latif a few times at SB3.
Contragulations K1, looking forward to seeing that video. Wish you could’ve been at Powerup 2011. I saw a few attempts at Morrigan not simply used as a meter whore and she did not last long in all attempts.
Yes, but I’ve noticed something about that. Magneto’s Disruptor and Task’s arrows (and maybe other projectiles) are closer to the ground when they’re assists. Meaning, Morrigan can duck their projectiles when they’re on point, but not as assists. In Task’s case, that translates to the lowest arrow hitting Morrigan, and in Magneto’s case, obviously, the full projectile gets you.
Looking forward to the Videos KI.
I cant remember who I saw do it, but Im lovin the normal jump > Soul Fist xx Fly > air dash j.S.
know whats even better? jump soul fist, fly, soul fists unfly, airdash whatever.
So, let’s talk about Vector Drain. I’m really iffy on when you can follow it up into a combo, and have no idea what or if you can set anything up off it. But the L version has obscene range, and the H version is a single frame of start up, so there has to be some uses for it. Especially since you can OS whiff cancel it into flight.
It’s a little tricky, but you can hit with a st.L, and kara cancel her st/H into the grab. It’s good when they’re used to seeing you cancel st.H into fly. You can only follow up the H version with and OTG super though as far as I know.
You can combo Vector Drain (and Morrigan’s air throw, since it’s essentially the same thing) into Shadow Servant if Morrigan’s back is against the end of the screen. It’s situational, but keep it in mind. Best of all, the scaling on Shadow Servant is really low when coming off of her throws. If you lad her heavy Vector Drain and follow up with Shadow Servant it ends up doing well over 400k…
Ranbats tonight at Arcade UFO. Hopefully they will be streaming / recording and I can get some footage up. Ill do my best to rep yall.
How did you do bro?
A frequent issue that’s being brought up whenever Morrigan is discussed is her lackluster damage output and the pretty much imminent scaling she suffers.
My question is: Considering what is discovered about her, the feel of her gameplay and general strategy, is this really that much of an issue? Is damage really an issue for Morrigan as an anchor for Level 3 x-factor, or on point as a screen-controlling character?
Since the fireballs do decent chip and people WILL get tagged by some trying to get in (ala MvC2 Megaman), that helps her case but when some characters drop combos and still do half life without meter it makes Morrigan look weak. Maybe Morrigan can be used how I use Zero as in letting hust C attacks hit only once to boost his damage a bit
Morrigan in X-Factor solves her most glaring issue - that being her damage output. In XF3, her most basic BNB will deal a lot of damage, and her movement rate is also cranked up, making her mix-up game even deadlier. My favorite tactic with Morrigan in XF3 is to go into Astral Vision, launch a couple of fireballs, then start rushing. It is very likely that the speed, fireballs, and the extra Morrigan will confuse the opponent enough to where you can open them up and take them out with a single combo.
we have ranbats here in Killeen every week on Friday also. u should come up, we’ll be happy to return the favor.
Hey guys, sorry ive been real busy lately. Regarding the ranbats at UFO, I ended up not being able to go as I was called into work TT__TT. I know the guy who won (PozerWolf) and play against him regularly. I really wish I couldve played =/
Im going to be getting recording capabilites soon so ill upload ASAP.
On a slightly different note, Ive decided to put Morrigan on hiatus until the next iteration of MvC3 (hopefully there will be one).
Im currently maining my other 2 favorite characters in the game and taking both of those teams to EVO. The teams are:
Jill / Sentinel / Dormammu ( Main team)
Storm / Zero / Doom (Secondary team)
Ill still get some footage of my Morrigan up though.
Still praying for Psylocke DLC, and Ill probably be waiting for a while =/
Edit: If anyone is going to Revelations / EVO, PM me and we can meet up and get some games in =)
I would but Im actually leaving for SoCal in a few days. Ill be there for about 2 and a half months chilling with my family and hitting up the arcade scene / Revelations
I need help understanding why this works, and only to some small amount. The other day i was messing around with morrigan in training mode, and i find out that F.h (The spinning forward kick) can combo into itself. So, F.h, F.h, F.h. But i can only get it to combo into itself 2-3 times. For a maximum of 12 hits. Also, i can put in a F.m (standing back kick?) between the F.H. But also still only 3 times. So i can do F.m, F.h, F.m, F.h, and F.m. But i can never get the 4th F.h to combo.
My question is why can’t i continue this combo longer?
The F.h puts me forward back into the postion i started. So maybe you can try this out in training mode and tell me why. Its a combo where you have to be right in front of the dummy.
If there is anything i need to make more clear, please tell me. Thanks SRK community.
