I like using forward heavy for anti-air purposes. It’s been successful for me so far and goes into a jump cancel bnb at the right height. I use j.S when going air to air though. Is forward M good for anti-air in this game? Like if someone tries to IAD on you? I haven’t found much use for it outside of combos…
Sentinel’s drones are amazing, but I prefer having Ammy on my team instead since she is more fun to play and I fucking love Okami. It also helps that having her on my team means that everyone on it can rape sent when I can get things going.
I forgot about forward heavy, I need to use that more often when i’m on the ground with Morrigan, especially since it cancels into her bnb. Forward M works great as an anti-air, it covers a much wider distance than forward heavy, but it doesn’t have as much vertical range on it, might work really well against IADs like you said, or anyone who tries to jump in at a relatively low angle.
I tried it out. Her forward heavy works much better against dive kicks because of the angle at which they approach. On reaction, you’ll atleast trade hits if you don’t beat the dive kicks with forward heavy. Forward M most of the times will just go under them unless there is some distance between you two which is unlikely since they probably won’t use it at whiffing range. Even if you do catch them with forward M, it’s hard to follow up with launcher since it whiffs most of the time… I think forward heavy works better as an anti-air in general, it’s even a frame faster. I wouldn’t abuse either against Wolverine though, as they can be kinda risky and her ground game probably can’t match Wolverine’s rushdown. If i’m not laming him out with fireballs, then i’d rather go for aerial approaches, and he’s fairly easy to cross-up with her down dash since he’s small in size. But if you can anticipate the dive kick, and if the opponent spams it constantly or if you’re backed into a corner, then forward heavy is the way to go.
Never thought about using :f::h: as an anti-air. I was using :s: the whole time with mixed results, to be honest. It can be good if you anticipate a reckless jump in or AID, but if they block it, it leaves you open since it’s really bad on block.
:l: or Shadow Blade might not be a bad idea to anti-air since you can fly cancel it whenever you want to stay safe.
The only problem I have with her is how often I have to spam QCB+S in the air. I really like Morrigan but I wish fly+unfly weren’t such a huge part of her game. I feel like I’m going to get carpal tunnel with how often I have to QCB in a match.
I love you. My team is usually Morrigan/Haggar/Deadpool, and I try to make them work the best I can… no beam/drone assist can make moving forward tough at times though.
Morrigan has been my favorite since I first played Darkstalkers arcade in a PS2 mod shop back in the day… don’t think I could all of a sudden stop using her.
Faultydefense: Thx I’m gonna try taking out those L’s later when I get some time, I like to go from jS (wich is a ver common way to get in) straight to stL and then stH for the hi low mixup.
So the combo you posted is a confirmed one? Stronger variations how? (besides lvl 3 hyper at the end)
I love you too Alkipot. Gotta keep the REAL players alive. Fuck all the new kids thinking that choosing Sent will automatically get them wins. Bitches. I will forever rep the players who choose characters they love simply because they love said character. Not because a character is easy.
Everytime I beat someone who uses Sent (unless theyre obviously VERY skilled players…which is incredibly few and far between) I send them a message with the following:
Lol @ Sent. Sent does not equal free wins. Try being original, you might get a little farther. Stay free SentScrub.
^^ I know it may be a bit drastic, but I have a disdain for Sentinel players that I doubt is rivaled. Sentinel is the epitome of a bandwagon, braindead character to me.
By the way, I dont mean to offend any of yall if you play Sent. Im sure yall are pretty awesome people, but I cannot respect ANY Sentinel player as a PLAYER unless they are very skilled with their other characters as well. I might hate Sentinel players during a match, but afterwards im probably one of the nicest guys youll ever meet.
I agree that morrigan could have a great mix-up game, but unfortunately pushblock gets rid of single char strings more than two hits long. If you d’on’t think so it just means that the people you play against don’t use it enough. She needs to go for the mix-up on the first two hits. You can extend it if you spend some time successfully frame trapping the other player.

That combo should work, the most straightforward way to buff the dmg in your combos is to remove the light attacks as often as possible, as well as the standing Heavy’s (they add a lot of hits and proration). Using 6H and jumping string will net you more return as well as linking into the highest level attack possible. (going from j.S into M instead of L even though the timing is stricter)
off of falling j.S a better version midscreen would be something like
j.S > M > 6H > j.M > j.H > j.S (3) > M > 6H > j.M > j.H > j.S (3) > S > j.MMH > M Shadowblade …
^ after that options change depending on what you want to do and whether you’ve put them in the corner or not.
