I find that you can DHC into her uppercut super (Shadow Servant?) from most everything closer than a max range beam super.
You can also easily DHC into her level 3 from any super that has a very short range (like Skrull Inferno).
You can DHC out of her uppercut super into anything with good forward or up-forward coverage (beam supers, Maximum Spider, Skrull Torch, etc).
Generally, unless you are using a set up you already know to be good, you should avoid DHCing into Finishing Shower as that often fails to combo with the preceding super.
I like using the :l: version instead since it stays out longer and if the opponent is full screen away, it will stack in line with the air :h: one. Also I find calling the assist before firing out the slow one works best since it takes a while to travel to my opponent.
Something i’ve been wondering about, do you guys always activate Astral Vision if you want to rushdown hard on opponents with Morrigan? How difficult is it to block her, and does Advancing Guard hurt her rushdown with Astral Vision?
Forward H can be jump canceled which means that every time it hits, you can jump immediately after hitting with it regardless of hit or block. For this combo, you hit the foward H jump cancel into the M H S which will lower the opponent while you continue the combo and then you’ll be hitting them with a standing M as soon as morrigan lands.
About that combo, i have difficulty executing hit. The j.H > 6H > 236H > fly > j.H can’t connect.
I’m a little too late to juggle after the first fireball fly cancel j.H. If i try to get the fireball out faster, the move sudendly register as a dragon punch motion. I have checked and i still do 6H 236H and not 6H 23H6 which would explain why it happen.
Do you have any tips at all about the timing ? That combo seems fairly easy for a 900k one since it’s basically the same short combo 2 times in a row follow up by a launcher finish to lv 3 super and not being able to get it right is frustrating
Does anywhere between 515k to 540k damage which is real solid for a BnB, and also has great cross-up potential. Also sometimes I replace FS with DI > Shadow Servant which does a whopping 925k total with 4 meters and no XF.
I’ve just been DHC’ing into her Astral Vision, it’s very safe and while it doesn’t add damage to your combo, it works a lot better than the other options for my team (Zero, X-23, Morrigan) when I need to make the switch. Zero’s taste the rainbow super sends people too high to land Shadow Servant unless you do it very early, and even then it doesn’t hit that hard. The best option is X-23’s “It’s over” hyper into Shadow Servant or Lv3.
its possible to go faster without getting the dp motion, a couple things to try to think about as your doing it
after 6H:
try to let the stick go neutral if just for an instant
instead of a 236, i often do a 41236, (seems to write out the dp motion sometimes)
make sure you end in exactly forward, ending in 3 or 9 will usually get a dp
and you have to be fast especially on the first j.H’s after the fireballs or they’ll be too low for the next fireball to hit
For the stuff where you want :f::h: into :qcf::h:, I find it’s easier to just tap :f: with :h: and let it return to neutral right away instead of holding it ahead of time, and then go into the QCF. You can get some good practice on this with Ryu’s mission mode since he has some of :f::h: round-house kick into :qcf::h: hadouken.
Thanks for the tips faultydefense and MoFro, trying to tap the stick or and letting it back to neutral seems to be working - even remotly at the moment - for me.
Got it to work a few time to the air fireball. Skipping the j.H a few times by the way, it went directly from ground fireball to air fireball. I suppose the combo would be less damaging in the end without a j.H IF it work without it.
BTW, a half circle motion always get me a DP. Maybe it’s because i don’t have time to let it go to neutral when i try it.
Yeah, if you don’t let it go neutral it won’t reset fast enough. You can even do cr.:h: then a 360 like :qcf::uf::u::ub::db::d::df: and it will come out as a DP (I’ve used that with Spider-man sometimes, seems to help time Spider Stings).
Another great trick, but a hidden benefit of using DI is that an air DI lands you on the other side from where you started it, which is perfect since Shadow Servant won’t just hit once in the corner - instead, you land in the corner so it will carry the opponent away from the corner and get some more hits in.
So, after testing, I realized Magneto can DHC after Morrigan’s Air Combo BnB (H Soul Blade xx Finishing Shower) but I can’t figure out who can DHC after that. Anyone have any ideas? Also, who else has good synergy with Morrigan?
Ive found that Amaterasu / Dormammu seem to work well with Morrigan (for me at least)
Right now im running Morrigan / Amaterasu / Dormammu
Ive messed around with a few pairs for her, but I keep coming back to Dormammu. I have a pretty strong Dormammu on his own, and his Dark Hole assist helps keep them in place for mixups. With this team I am able to rushdown / mixup with both Morrigan and Ammy, and if I have to I can zone them out (depending on the character) with Morrigan in Astral Vision / Dorm assist, or Ammy (Whip stance) + Dorm…or just Dorm + Cold Shots.
It works out really well for me.
by the way, for the entirety the I play this game, I will have my main team focus around Morrigan. Shes always been my girl, and always will be.
This is my first time checking the Morrigan forums but I come bearing (hopefully useful) information.
Okay so i had an idea in my head and I just got home to test it. Turns out I was right, Morrigan’s Shadow Blade super > ALL beam supers. Ryu, Dante, Deadpool, etc all lose to Morrigan’s Shoadow Blade super on reaction if they do their supers. The ONLY way that this doesn’t work is if Morrigan is in the absolute corner of the screen and the opposing character is. One step out of the corner and she beats you out. This super also destroys waves of HSF so if you time it right you can beat out Sentinel as well! It doesn’t beat out hail storm though You can also beat out all of Trish’s supers and a lot of level 3’s with this as well. This is great for spammers and people who are trying to chip you out. I’m gonna keep messing with this too see what else I can do with it .
Easy anti-pipe strat:
Just duck - Pipe doesn’t work on Morrigan as an instant overhead so you can keep blocking low and punish their whiff with a launcher
